We need to protect our daughter from growing up, an inevitable thing we will need to accept one day and acknowledge is a desirable end for all people (becoming socially competent adults)... however, we do not need to protect her from cancer, something not inevitable and terribly undesirable.

WTF is wrong with people? They are more concerned with keeping their precious babies babies, preventing them from growing up than they are with protecting them from cancer. Priorities people!
