Under a tree, head down, and intently focused on the tiny hand-held game console in his paws, Akamu sat. Casually ignoring the fact that he, as all other teens living at the pound, was supposed to be doing chores to 'earn their keep'. Cheering as he finally managed to beat the guardian of level 67 in the Monkey Nugget Anthologies Volume 23-9a. "Whoo-hoo!! Got ya you little buggers!!"

Bouncing across the open fields behind the main building of the pound, Konstantine quickly left his ever-attentive, yet far-too-slow father far behind. His green eyes scanned the horizon intently. He was looking for something. Some... Thing... He pondered as he narrowly avoided a gopher hole without noticing. Ah-ha! Something fuzzy! His face broke into a grin, and he hurtled towards his distant, tree-umbrella-ed goal. "GOTCHA!" He cried, in an odd echo of what his target had just previously said, as he launched himself onto the large fluffy tail of his latest victim.

Unaware of the danger until the damage was already done, Akamu's startled shout could be heard all the way to the pound doors, as his gameslug dropped to the ground, not noticing as it bounced once, and had the batteries knocked out of it without having had a chance to save.
"What in the...?!" More confused then anything else, Akamu twisted his head around to stare at the new tail accessory he was sporting. Absently noticing that said attachment looked kinda familiar in an odd kind of way. After a moment of watching the kit nuzzle into his tail, he warily lifted his paw for a hesitant greeting; Hesitant by his standards anyway. "...Heya fuzzy! How are ya?"

Paying no mind to the odd little machine and the parts that fell out of it, the smaller fox spent several minutes admiring the lush fur of his new anchor. Finally he realized that the fox said tail was attached to had spoken to him, and glanced up. "You have a really nice tail, mister," he stated in a matter-of-fact sort of way. "What're you doing out here, though? Older kids are supposed to be indoors helping out Adalrico." He nodded firmly, eyeing his elder with scorn in his large eyes. "You're being bad."

"...Fuzzy? ...Hey, furball, look up when your elders are talking to you!" More then a little disturbed at having his greetings outright ignored, Akamu reached out toward the kit to initiate his tactic of last resort, when the little one finally looked up and acknowledged him. His first reaction upon hearing the little one's statement being a faint twitch of his left ear and a moderately bemused look. "It is a nice tail isn't it?" he asked, flickering the appendage in question with a friendly laugh, "Does lots of neat stuff, like... Helping me balance, and acts as a nifty anchor for kids!"
Freezing at the next line of questioning, Akamu mentally scrambled for a quick excuse. "Uh, well, my sister and I alternate days where we do each other's chores, so that neither of us has to work every day" Nodding once in complete agreement with the statement which spilled from his mouth, regardless of the fact that he was lying through his teeth. Vaguely hoping that conversation was over, and that the strangely familiar kit wouldn't be able to point to him as being the source of bad influence later, he continued, "As long as everything gets done, there is no harm in trading responsibilities around a little, right? But, Adalrico wouldn't approve, even though all the work gets done, so don't mention it to him, okay?"

Konstantine nodded emphatically. "It's also really fluffy! You know, I read somewhere that a fluffy tail is a sign of fertility," he stated with a wink. "Do you have any kids?" Pouting slightly, he gave the older fox an appraising look, as if trying to decide whether or not he was being truthful. "Well... I guess, so long as everything gets done..." Nodding again, he resumed running his fingers through the long hairs at the end of the red fox's tail. "Adalrico's kind of grumpy, anyway," he said with a giggle. "He didn't like it very much when I told him his tail wasn't fluffy enough."

After a brief and atypical moment of staring at the kitten in a state of semi-stunned silence, Akamu threw his head back and whooped with laughter, exclaiming, "You're certainly a forward one!"
A couple moments later, after regaining his mental equilibrium enough that he was only chuckling still, he remembered the question and nearly choked. "Wait, wha...? Kids? Yeah right! Come-on, do I look like I'm old enough to have pups?" Trying not to think about just how familiar the pup in front of him looked, Akamu decided that segment of the conversation was officially closed and gladly switched over to the next topic without waiting for an answer to his own question.
In an attempt to reassure the kit enough that he wouldn't mention the supposed 'deal' he and Gin have to anyone, he nodded in agreement. "Exactly, if everything gets done, who cares who does it? Adalrico is such a pain about scheduling..." By this point in the conversation, Akamu really couldn't help but wonder exactly what was with this kid and his tail-fascination. Putting more weight on his left footpaw, he attempted to keep it from thumping the ground as the pet-fest continued.

"Hm?" Konstantine murmered as he chewed thoughtfully on a long, well-kept fingernail. "Forward? Is that a bad thing? My dad tells me that I get into places I don't belong. Is that what that means?" Smart enough to pick up on Akamu's body language and the awkward tone in his voice when asked about kids, he let that line of questioning pass. As far as he was concerned, he had gotten his answer anyway; The guy had kids, probably accidental ones that he tried not to think about. He didn't exactly seem like the fatherly type. Noticing the older fox's gaze on him, he decided to freak him out a little bit, and promptly dropped his face right into the thick fur of his tail, blowing a raspberry.

"Nah, forward isn't bad, most people don't know how to deal with it though. Subtly and all that nonsense," he harrumphed, waving his paw around in mild disgust. "As for being places you shouldn't, he's the one that should have taught you to recognize them, so... If you can't, it's his fault for being a bad teacher," And so saying, firm in his place as the king of never having to take responsibility for his own actions and always dropping the blame at other's feet.
Even as he spoke however, his ears folded back against his head as he felt a strange feeling of disapproval coming from somewhere deep inside the force. Absently wondered what ever happened to that other fox who went for a roll in the hay (literally) with his sister and himself, wishing the guy would at least talk to his sister for a while and get her to stop moping... And maybe help out with the hellions that she called kids.
Grinning at the kid, Akamu cocked his head to the side curiously as the kit face planted into the fur of his tail. "uh, kid, wha... YI~PE!!!" He wailed in surprise, as he fell backward, directly into the tree he had been leaning against earlier. Felt some thought of something missing nibbling on the back of his mind, but dismissed it quickly, telling himself that he had bigger fish to fry.
Opening his eyes, Akamu cast his gaze around for something he could use or say to distract the tail-obsessed one from doing anything else 'interesting' to his tail. Realizing abruptly that he still didn't know the kid's name, nor had introduced himself yet, he quickly blurted out, "Oh, hey, I'm Akamu by the way! Nice to meet ya! Seems like you're friendly enough with my tail that I should tell ya our name too, yeah?", with a wink before the pup could pull any other confusing stunts.

"Subtlety is for cowards and fine cuisine!" Konstantine proclaimed loudly, pumping a fist in the air. "Er, that's what I read in a magazine article, anyway." He looked slightly sheepish at this. "You really think he's... Doing a bad job of teaching me stuff?" The thought had never occured to him before; He'd always assumed that his dad was a pretty good one, and that he just had a "penchant for mischief", as his father said. ... Come to think of it, most of what he thought about himself had come from his father. He resumed gnawing on a thumbnail as he pondered this; This revelation could change the way he thought about almost everything.
He barely managed to hold in a snicker at his little tail-raspberry stunt's effect on the larger fox. Exactly what I was going for.
"Oh, that was pretty rude wasn't it? Of one of us. I'm not really sure which. But in any case. I'm Konstantine," he replied with a nod, grabbing Akamu's tail and shaking it firmly.

"...Well, that's one way to look subtlety it I guess..." The older fox muttered, before turning back to the other, more interesting topic of conversation.
"Nah, he's not really doing a bad job... It's pretty clear he liked you." Or you'd no longer be here, he finished mentally. "He just needs practice with explaining... Stuff. I'm sure that's it. And you need to ask more questions," he grinned, nodding. "After all, he can't know what to teach you if you don't tell him what you want to learn about!"
"N-nice to meet you Kon!" He stuttered as his tail was caught in a firm grip and then shaken, inwardly wondering what this kit's fascination with his tail was. "...What is it with my tail?" He finally had to ask, utterly baffled by the way this conversation had been going. "Not that I mind really... Just... You know, wondering..."
