PART ONE
(sorry for its length...)
Kira lay sun tanning in her back yard. It was more like a small one person town. She lived in an oasis in the middle of the egyptian desert on earth. She was calm and relaxed even bored maybe until the little water hole near her hut was disturbed by an on coming wind storm she looked up to see what it was. No one was out here except her and no one ever passed this way.
Turning over, kira stood to her feet quickly and took her ground. Something really was coming and she knew it wasnt just some wind storm. It felt powerful beyond anything she had ever felt and thats saying a lot when you're half human, half angel.
"who are you?" she asked the wind as a man suddenly appeared. He didnt say anything. "oh great" Kira thought to herself "he's not talking... I hope he's not a Borak chasing after the protector of that stone, because he's not here!"
The young girl continued to glare at the man, waiting for him to make the first move.
Cloud emerged from the sands atop a small slope and came walking up toward the small oasis. She had sensed a strong presence and had been chasing after this one for quite a while. He was not a Borak himself but had the feeling and smell of one. Her nose wrinkled in disgust.
"anyone who dares to side with them deserves to die as the coward they are"
Completely ignoring the angel that stood in front of her foe she went in for an attack. She pulled her sword from its shieth and placed it up at her side to strike.
"im not done with you" she yelled "you Borak Traitor"
The man was already injured slighty as he had been fighting her before coming to the oasis. The spy raised his own blade and returned her harsh blows. Their blades clanked together shattering the once peacful silence that Kira had been enjoying. After a short struggle Cloud had the man right where she wanted him and was ready to deliver the final blow when he disapeared on her again. Her blade went straight into the ground easily cutting through the sand
"damn you" she swore in her mind "cursed creature you have to die." "Come back you coward and face me!"When he did not show up again she tried to taunt him further "I see they've taught you how to hide well. But not how to fight. They havn't even shared their power with you"
She got to her feet and pulled the sword from the earth. Putting it away she continued to ignore the angel standing there.
"Um thank you" Kira mumbled, not knowing why she had suddenly become afraid of this thing before her. After all it had just saved her the trouble of fighting. "what brings you to these parts?" she asked quickly "To earth that is?"
Cloud finally acknowledged that someone was there but it was not friendly. Her blue eyes glared at Kira through the corner of her vision. With her back still turned she spoke over her shoulder.
"I didnt do it for you angel" she said "stay out of my way and I wont kill you"
With that she was silent and was off again at a gentle jog. She had no time for friends or to play hero for someone. Cloud wanted revenge and nothing more. The thing she offered for it was her very life and she meant it. Who gave a crap about the stone, the Borak were her only concern. If they got their hands on it she would still destroy each one that crossed her path. Perhaps even steal it from them to crush them even further. She was the last of her kind, a warrior on a mission.
At this Kira just stood there putting all that had happened in her mind thoroughly.
"I didnt do it for you angel" clouds words repeated in her mind "stay out of my way and I wont kill you" "did she mean it? What a strange girl" kira thought to herself.
Walking back to her chair she sat down picking up a water bottle. She stood again, desiding that she didnt much like it outside anymore, and walked back into her house. Looking up through the smoke hole in her ceiling. Kira began to understand.
"that was a Borak follower that only means that the protector of the stone of power is here on earth. They are scouting for him"
Cloud didnt go far from the oasis home something made her stay. In the back of her mind she guessed that if a Borak follwer had shown Borak would soon come here too. Her eyes stayed alert as she scanned the many hills and curves of sand for any intruders or unwanted guests.
"ill have my revenge" she spoke quietly "i will have it"
It had been quite a while and Cloud had not taken her eyes off the angels place. She was half wondering why the Borak wanted anything to do with her. So she decided that maybe she should question this angel and find out just how much she knew about her visitor.
After peering through the smoke hole for a few hours kira sat on her bed and looked at the ground.
"Yup" she thought to herself "im a loner. Half human half angels dont make it around to well in the universe"
Standing back up she felt restless and decided to do something about it. She grabbed some soap, shampoo, and a towel then walked over to the little oasis water hole.
"bath time" she yelled a little more cheered up.
After her bath she dressed again and sheltered by a few trees and started back toward her hut.
Cloud was one her way toward Kira to question her when sure enough Their friend the Borak follower appeared behind Kira.
"look out" she shouted "its behind you"
The last thing she wanted was for this angel to die now, not before she could get some answers. The Borak raised its dagger and was ready to nail Kira. Cloud managed to get in its way before that. The dagger sank into clouds shoulder piercing the armor she had covering it but all the padding stopped it from ever touching her.
Cloud thrust her hand up into the mans face then spun kicking him hard in the side. He drew his sword once again and charged at Cloud. She raised her own sword and charged. Clouds sword was knocked from her hand and he grabbed her by the throat. It tossed her into the small pool of water and cloud sank. The foolish man bent down to try and get a look see if cloud had drown.
She popped up and head buttered him then splashed water into the mans eyes. She lept on top of him but he tossed her off of himself and thrashed about chasing her as she rolled on the ground away from his sword and his feet. He managed to pin her and put his hand around her throat. Her hands searched the sands trying to find something to help her. She felt her sword grabbed and swung it nailing it in the head. His grip instantly loosened and his head rolled away from his body. She tossed his dead weight off of her and scratched him across the chest and then the face. It was her signature to let the Borak know it was her that had killed their loyal followers.
Kira had been pushed to the ground when cloud came between her and the borak follower. After eating a few mouth fulls of sand, Kira began to crawl to her hut. When it was quiet again she peaked her head out letting her cheek gently press against the door frame. When she looked out she could see cloud with the knife stuck in her shoulder. She could also see her rubbing her neck painfully.
"Oh no!" Kira yelled, opening the door the rest of the way and going to clouds side. "I can heal you with my magic!" After dragging Cloud by the hand to the hut she had her sit on a table in the living room. Kira smiled at her opologeticly because she figured cloud didn’t want to be there. She could tell by the very annoyed glare in clouds eyes. "Try not to move." She said quickly and disappeared.
Cloud reached up and pulled the knife from her shoulder with ease and dropped it. It stuck into the wood standing up. After digging through a few bags Kira finally found her potions, medicine, and bandages.
"I need to take off her shirt..." Kira hesitated to remove it at first but when cloud smirked she took that as a challenge. So she removed clouds black shirt and then the padded vest that was underneath it. The wound looked like it was deep but the outside was cleanly cut. Cloud couldn’t feel it and she didn’t think it had pierced her so far in. "That stab wound looks pretty bad." She noted as blood began to soak Cloud's chest.
"Maybe for a coward like you," she said "but I am use to such injuries. I never run from a fight."
Kira’s face brightened red as she realized that she had run away. It had been a rather stupid thing for her to do considering who she was but he had surprised her after her bath. She was going to protest but a loud rumble shook the ground. A strange bellowing began to fill the air.
"Oh fun more company." Kira thought aloud in and irritated tone.
Her guest now wasn’t exactly the kindest soul. "You stay here," She said. "I'll take care of this."
She wasn’t about to be called a coward again. Also despite her rudeness Kira didn’t want her to fight while she was injured. It didn’t seem right. Cloud didn’t move from the table and watched her go to greet what she knew was a Borak ship. The bellowing came from the horns they blew to announce their arrival.
The ship was a medium size and landed on a dessert hill a dozen fathoms or so in the distance. Borak drones filed out of the ship with their weapons slung over their stick like bodies. They moved in ranks toward Kira's property the horns still bellowing loudly. Kira stood there like nothing could touch her and waited for them to come.
A gale of wind picked up sand and washed it in front of Kira like a wall. When it cleared away the Borak stood before her. Their commander was only a few feet away. He raised his hand and the Borak drones raised their weapons aiming for the lone angel. He smirked and was about to lower his hand to fire upon her when the wind picked up and caused a large sand storm. Kira could only see the commander for a brief moment. She jumped up into the air and vanished into the sand.
Only her laughter could be heard echoing around them. The fighting seemed useless at first. The Borak soldiers fired blinding into the sand walls that surrounded them. Many were blinded and some were half barried in new mounds of sand that began to form. But then it died down as Kira lost her power to control the wind. She was feeling the familiar exhaustion of using magic. But it was a light fatigue and she could still fight without magic. Rushing forward she dodged the beams that came from the Borak drones shoulder cannons and began to attack them in close range combat. The cannons were useless and were abandoned. They swung at Kira violently and some used very weak magic to cause cuts upon her skin.
Kira took blows to the head and blood flowed from her lips and nose. Here and there a borak would stab or cut her but they had no luck in landing any deadly blows. Kira began to grow frustrated because there were so many of them. Kira let loose a burst of light around her and then vanished. The Boraks who had stood closest to her now lay dead. Kira was up in the air in her angel form. Brilliant white wings had sprouted from her back and she had more of a magical presence.
"Leave me alone and out of your business!" The worn out angel yelled.
At this the most of the borak fled to their ship. They did not like the idea of challenging such a powerful creature. But still many stayed and picked up their cannons once more trying to shoot her from the air. "Fine then I shall kill you." She said. "You bothersome beasts."
Cloud was behind the house battling against those who had crept around back. She had left the house shortly after the Borak began blowing it to pieces with their cannons. Once outside she had been helping Kira fight the borak. She was a fierce fighter and killed any and all Borak that dared come close enough to her blade. Not to mention her right hand held a deadly amount of magic as well. She could kick up the sand in gusts of wind and easily use it to hide herself from the cannon beams. It was not an easy task however because the Borak had them both far out numbered.
Only her swiftness and intelligence allowed her to stay a few strokes ahead of the many masses. When a flash of light caught her eye and the Borak began to flee she looked over her shoulder as she gave chase after them. She smirked when she saw Kira in her full form.
"Angel." She whispered to herself.
They ran all the way out to the ship leaving a trail of bodies behind as clouds sword cut them down. Kira could only see a black tailed figure make a run for it like a shadow upon the ground. Cloud jumped aboard the ship before it could safely close its door for take off. She waited around a corner as the frantic borak moved about. When one passed by she grabbed it and slit its throat then began to make her move toward the c**k pit.
She slaughtered every creature that got in her way. Blood was leaking upon the metal floors making it slippery but her claws steadied her as the ship rocked. She knew they had left the ground. But it didn’t get very far and hovered above the ground for quite a while. The ship seemed to be struggling to get away as it lazily swung back and forth like a pendulum.
She had been shot a few times by the borak cannons which delivered nasty stinging electric shocks to your body. But she kept on moving despite the painful stings. She was stabbed a few times but none had pierced her padded armor this time so she received a few deep scratches across her arms and legs as they tried tackling her to the ground or tripping her as they lay dieing. They delivered heavy blows to anywhere they could reach but none had succeeded in killing her. She’d reached the c**k pit and stopped it in mid flight. She pressed many buttons and the ship started to fail in flight.
A voice came on and began to speak. "Self destruct system had been activated. Please exit the ship. Detonation to occur in 10…9…8…7…"
Cloud was racing for the shuttle door and made it to it. The Borak had jammed it and she cursed under her breath. Slamming a knife into the crack of the door she made an attempt to pop it open.
"6...5...4...3..." The voice echoed through out the silent ship.
Sweat was beginning to run down her face until finally Pop. The door came unjammed and she slid it open and tumbling to the ground. The ship was aimed to hit the ground right where she was. Cloud quickly scrambled to her feet and ran not daring to look back as the ship hit the ground. There were thunderous cracking sounds as it fell apart.
"2...1..."
The ship exploded in a massive ball that climbed up into the sky. Air rushed across the plain and threw sand in a huge wave burying cloud a bit. The few pieces of metal that survived went flying through the air like bullets imbedding themselves into whatever they reached first.. The fire and smoke engulfed cloud for a few seconds and then it was gone. There was nothing left to burn. Cloud was face down in the sand. Her thick armor had protected her from the blast but shards of metal had easily passed through it and stuck into her back like little needles.
Cloud uncovered her head and tried to stand but the pain swept over her in a massive headache and she collapsed unable to move. Shortly after she heard someone approaching she lost conciousness.
Kerra heard a large blast coming from directly behind her. Her cloak waved in the wind as she stared at the bits and pieces of metal that passed by her feet in the sand like hockey pucks on ice. Heading towards it she hoped to find the keeper of the stone - or at least the stone. After all she was the enlightened sent to help the keeper - or take the stone in his place if he were to pass away. Reaching the remains of the ship Kerra stared at the tired body of a creature she did not recognize. Kerra wondered if she was friend or foe.
"CLOUD!" Kira yelled flying quickly toward the massive wreckage. Landing softly she picked up the injured furrian girl sagging beneath the weight at first. Then looked at the enlightened girl sitting at Clouds side, Kira had tried to motion for her to follow but gave up after her arms began to burn from Cloud's dead weight. "Its not safe out here. Move quickly!" She whispered trying to catch her breath from lifting Cloud so suddenly.
Floating above the ground kira flew Cloud to her hut once more. It was in good enough shape to provide shelter still. The sand was beginning to settle and the winds were dieing down at last. She placed her upon the couch and watched her for a moment checking to see if she was even alive. Every now and then Cloud would release a ragged breath.
"I know you can hang in there..." Looking behind herself Kira hoped that the other girl was moving with haste. "Im going to need your help" Kira yelled as loud as she could so the girl outside would hear her.
Kerra tilted her head to one side. She followed the girl carrying what looked like a cat-woman. She watched her on the couch for a moment and then approached and began to work quietly. This creature seemed worth saving.
"I can save the girl" She said placeing one palm to the furrians heart and the other to her forehead.
She began to hum something in an unfamiliar language. After a few moments a slight glow appeared. All the shards and bits that had reached her skin popped out slowly. Small streams of blood followed but moments later scabs covered them. Kerra stopped humming and removed her hands.
"There its done," She said. Unlike Kira she felt no fatigue from using magic. After all the enlightened where infused with a great deal of power and it was not easily lost by a simple healing spell.
