Eron always knew, subconsciously, at least, that his life was precarious, at best. He had not been born, at least as Eron, so much as created from a collection of dead bugs, a wood-carving of a body, and enough magic to force the former to animate the latter.

The wood-golem strove to live his life as a human to the best of his ability, but every night when he slept, the dreams of a thousand moths plagued his mind. If any one of them was drawn away from him, he would unravel like a dropped ball of yarn, and cease to exist. All the souls would scatter like dust.

Eron tried not to think too heavily on what a fortunate but precarious coincidence he truly was, and simply lived from day to day. However today, he started to feel the slightest tugging at his soul.

He kept checking over his shoulder, the feeling at first like the faintest tapping. Except the moth quickly realized it came from within him, and not from without. All through the day it persisted, but it never hurt. Eron went to bed hoping the feeling would be gone by the morning.

That night, he dreamed of a thousand moths flying away on all the four winds.

Eron did not wake up the next morning.

Assignment

The souls luckily were not scattering. The spirits who killed and bonded guardians were doing a good job of keeping the souls together for the bonding. However one of the spirits-a Dream Weaver called Senko-got caught in the middle of the souls, and accidentally meshed all of the moth souls and it's own together into one full one.

Though the spirits were a bit sad at the loss of one of their own, it made their job easier. Taking this new soul to the realm of the Tison gods it was allowed to bond a bit with that of a Tison Deity. The bonding finished Eron's new soul as well as that of the deity were sent to the Tison Space Ship, the Samadueanna, where Eron's body was waiting.

Diyaka Gemyma, the 12 year old god of fire, sat in a chair by the bed Eron was in, waiting for him to awake.

Asahi Kumoru
Eron's body, the one he had been given at his creation, lay on the table looking an awful lot like a wooden Indian. Or, perhaps with its carefully jointed limbs and lack of any discernible face, the form more closely resembled an artist's mannequin. The carved form was lightly dusted in a few places with moth wing scales, and the whole thing smelled faintly of cedar and must.

It was therefore quite obvious when Eron's soul returned from its little adventure. The whole wooden block covered itself over with dull, pale flesh; the face became distinct; gold-on-black eyes formed themselves inside the skull and began to glance nervously around the room; the head grew out a good length of blonde-touched brown hair.

As soon as he could move and breathe again, Eron sat up slowly and hugged his knees to his chest with his awkwardly long arms. He lacked clothing like this, which included the blindfold he ordinarily wore to protect his eyes from bright lights. Moaning softly like one waking from a deep sleep and a bad dream, the moth hunched his shoulders and tented his wings against his back, trying to block out as much of the surrounding light as he could.

"Wh- what happened?" he asked after a moment. He could sense another presence in the room even if he could not see it; with any luck, that presence would have some answers.

Dia noticed the moth's waking and dimmed the lights for him. "You died so as to become guardian to a reborn deity from another world." the boy said with a nod.

Asahi Kumoru
The bit of tawny fur on Eron's shoulders and upper back bristled, as did his feathery white antennae. Even after the lights were dimmed, he remained curled up and hunched over, his face in his hands.

"N- no, what hap- happened?" The moth hurt just like the day he had first been born. He also rather felt like there was an intruder within him, something that did not belong. Eron also felt like he was going to vomit. Could you do that if you were dead?

"Why am I d-dead? D- did s-someone kill m-me?" His voice sounded shaky, and almost like someone else was talking through him. It was tremendously unsettling.

[Dg]
Diyaka looked at the PDA in his hand. "This says that your souls were freed so that you would die and then kept together so they could be bonded with the deity you were to guard. However during the bonding one of the dream weavers in charge of keeping them together accidentally got stuck in the middle and meshed all of your souls into one with itself. And you're not dead anymore just so you know."

Asahi Kumoru
The moth's head snapped up, and he peered at the other young man with his wide golden eyes. "You unrav- veled my s- spell? That made me... m- me? Why? Wh- what does a d- deity want with me? I'm n- not even h- human!"

Eron's took a deep breath and tried to relax, to stop shaking. This was so strange, had been since the beginning. He turned to let his legs hang over the edge of the table, and rested his hands on his knees. Eron did not appear to much care that he was naked, but he did not appear to really have anything to hide, either. Silently, he studied his black toenails for a moment, then looked up again and asked, "H- how am I not d-dead anymore? H- how did you b- bring m- me back?"

[Dg]
"I didn't do anything. A being of higher power did it all. What I know is that something unraveled your spell so as to get at your soul and bond it with that of a deity from my realm that died. All of the deities from that realm got murdered and have to be reborn somewhere safe so they can grow up again and save their home. You were just picked to be one of the guardians. It brought you back by reinstating your spell a little bit with the help of a few odd spirits. You probably won't unravel again since your souls are now all one soul."

Asahi Kumoru
Eron sat in silence for a moment, his mouth just hanging open. Nearly all that the stranger had just told him had gone right over his head, and without even coming close to his antennae, either.

"That s- sounds... an awful lot l-like I'm b- being used," the moth finally said quietly. "I alread-dy had one m-master. I n-never asked for a sec-cond one."

[Dg]
"No one who gets a reborn god asks for them.....well except Tan Pan but she doesnt' count. They just get chosen by something. We don't know how." Dia said with a nod.

Asahi Kumoru
The moth spread his wings out fully to stretch them, glancing upwards briefly as the tips of them brushed against the ceiling. Then he immediately returned his gaze to the stranger.

"Well.... If I c- can't say no, what am I supposed to do now?" Eron's voice was starting to sound steadier, so he thought that he might be able to stand. However as he began to do so, his stomach reeled with nausea again, and he had to lean down and hold his head to keep from fainting.

"You said an extra soul got t- trapped with mine," he said after a moment, without raising his head. "What does that m- mean? What will it do?" Right now, it was just making him feel violently ill; Eron hoped it would have some real benefit, too.

[Dg]
"You will probably have to go home and prepare for chidlren. The necklace turns into a child in two days. And as for the soul no one knows. This has never happened before. It might give you the powers of that spirit to a degree but I'm not sure. I do know that it's keeping all of your souls merged as one."

Asahi Kumoru
"... Children?" It was definitely not the answer Eron had been expecting, to the point that he was entirely unsure of how to respond to it. After gaping like a fish for a moment, he asked, "Like, take care of one? I don't know how."

He chewed at one of his black clawed nails for a moment, then added, "Will I be able to get my clothes back, at least?" His original clothing before his death had been a part of the spell that created him, but since the moth had been unraveled and then put back together in a way different than the original method... well, all his clothing had been lost. "I know I'm not human, but... it won't be comfortable going home without anything to wear."

[Dg]
"I guess. You kind of showed up like that so I don't know. We could find you some new clothing if you need. And yes you'll be carrying for a child." Diyaka said with a nod.

Asahi Kumoru
Eron did not want to offend, but he was definitely more than a little upset that he had been killed, brought back to life with part of a soul that was not his and lacking clothes, and now apparently stuck with a responsibility he had not asked for. He could no longer disguise his wings as a cape since he had lost the clothing he had been given upon his original creation; Eron tented them against his back again for now.

"I can't care for a human child. I don't know if a deity will be different, but.... I don't know how. I'm not like that. My kind doesn't care for children. There has to have been some mistake...."

[Dg]
"I don't think so. Whatever it is doesn't seem to make mistakes that often. It will be practically human but maybe you can raise it in your own way? So long as it in some way eats, and sleeps and such it should be fine."

Asahi Kumoru
"Eats and sleeps," Eron repeated with a sigh and a small nod. Anyone who knew why he had been created, and under what circumstances, would know that the moth would follow those instructions to the letter, doing no more and no less. He supposed he could 'take care' of this child, then, if it was really that easy.

Though he was not about to press the issue, however, Eron still felt that there had been some kind of misunderstanding about who he was. Even though certain parts of his spell had been broken at the unraveling of his souls, the moth could distinctly feel that the major tenants of his contract still bound him. While he could not find some way that they applied as a way to get out of this child-rearing escapade, Eron was aware that he still belonged to his master... if he could find her again someday.

[Dg]
Diyaka smiled. "Well anyway, we will send you home now." he said, bringing Eron some clothing and escorting him to the transporter room to send him home. And with that the guardian has recieved his task. (this is done)

Asahi Kumoru
"Are you going to check on me while I look after this child?" Eron asked, sounding a little upset. He was certainly not finished; the moth had many more questions. "And what if I need your help? How can I reach you again? I don't even know your name?"

He dug his heels in a little as he was 'escorted', as the sudden movement made his head spin and his stomach turn. "The dream weaver or whatever you said it was is making me sick. How can I get it out?"

"... And what is that?" His wings shivered a little when he saw the transporter. Eron had certainly never seen anything like it before. "What does that do?"

[Dg]
"Yes. The something that gave you the child gives us updatedi nformation on your and it's status. And my name is Diyaka, and it'll let us know if you need us. I don't know if you can without unraveling again and this thing is gonna send you home. Bye now."
