First of all, Baptism is something different than Baptists. I don't know of any name for the denomination other than Baptist.
Now, unless you provide links so we can see the sources that led you to write this, I can only think of two cases like the one you mentioned that descriminates against homosexuals. Granted, I know there are likely more, but these two provide the best examples. Two ends of the spectrum, if you will.
(Warning: These links are offensive.)http://www.landoverbaptist.org/This website, which so many believe to be true at first, is nothing but a big huge parody poking fun at Baptists and fundamentalist Christians in general. This becomes apparent after reading the site for a while, as some of the things they say just get more and more rediculous. Any anti-gay descrimination on that site is intended as part of the joke.
http://www.godhatesfags.com/http://www.godhatesamerica.com/http://www.priestsrapeboys.com/These websites are all owned by the Westboro Baptist Church, which is Baptist in name and nothing else. They hate everyone who is not a part of their congregation. They were the ones who were protesting outside Arlington cemetery as fallen soldiers were being buried. They are classified as a hate group by several organizations. Their congregation is led by Fred Phelps and only has 90 members, most of whom are part of his family.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/God_hates_fags They seem to take whatever major issue is in the news at the time and make hateful websites about it. (See above links.) However, after hurricane Katrina, an anonymous figure premeptively bought a website for New Orleans before Fred Phelps could get his hands on it, leaving a message for him:
http://godhatesneworleans.com/Now, all this is dandy, but what about true Baptists? In America, there are three major denominations of Baptists. There's the American Baptists, which are common throughout the larger part of the US, the Southern Baptists, who are located primarily in the southern US and the Bible Belt area and are mostly white, and the National Baptists, who are mostly in the south and Bible Belt and are mostly black.
Prejudice, racism and descrimination are still rampant in parts of the southern US, and so Southern Baptists are seen as descriminatory by many. Southern Baptists preach more against Homosexuality than any other group of Baptists. While there may be anti-gay sentiments among other denominations, I personally haven't seen descrimination on their parts to the extent of the Southern Baptists.
