I see the difference and it's really spiffy.
surprised That's a good program you got your hands on. Now if only I could figure out how to use the thousands of tools on Photoshop...
xd I've had mine for nearly a year (psd) and I'm still learning goodness how many new tricks everyday. Couple of big hints:
If you're trying to "paint" a picture, treat it almost the same as you would in "real" media. Experiment with different brush tips to get good textures. The very smooth finish most pictures on the computer have doesn't look real, and I don't like it... ><
After you've finished "painting" the part you're working on, you can smooth it out with the smudge tool, set to about 28% Although I personally like it when the picture's left "rough". Remember to smudge along the line, eg: down a leaf, not accross it. If that isn't enough, you need to do more painting, not smudging.
Texture and lighting are very important. Experiment with these lots. Colours reflect off each other; skin will have a faint glow of blue if it's next to a blue top, and the top will have a bit of skin colour glow.
If you want to add a lens flare, create a new layer, set it to "screen" (I think) and fill it with black. Put the lens flare on this, and you can move it where you want, and still edit the picture underneath. I wish I had known that a looong time ago... >< Would've saved me a lot of hassle.
But then again, you probably knew all that...
xd If I've got anything worng, anyone please feel free (and please plase do! I need you to!
razz ) to correct me. Anyone got anything I've missed out/don't know yet? (Oh yeah, I don't really know how to use the pen tool, and therefore how to do vectors and stuff)
