So lately I've been having snack attacks in which I eat, even when I'm not hungry, just for the taste of the food. I think it's because I've been dieting, and depriving myself from good-tasting food, so I get these massive cravings. I've lost weight, but I really don't want to end up gaining it back. v-v
I'm sure I'm not the only one.
Any tips on maintaining self-control and resisting the urge?

[-Criptika-] So lately I've been having snack attacks in which I eat, even when I'm not hungry, just for the taste of the food. Find something healthier to snack on? I eat frosted mini wheats at those times. Good for you, yet has some flavor too, lol. Works for me *pokes stomach* unfortunately, it doesn't help counter my other issues much. Too much ramen is obviously a BAD thing. sweatdrop

If you're a fan of like fruits and veggies at all, there are some that you can eat, where the digestion(sp?) burns more calories then you take in so you actually lose a bunch of calories eating them. You can eat as much as you want of them and you won't gain any weight. You'll actually lose a little bit. Maybe you can find something on there that you like to snack on. That's about all the help I can offer.

You stated your problem in the first post sweatdrop
Never go with a diet where you can't at least eat some of the food you like, that diet will never work out in the long run.
A good diet practices moderation with the kinds of foods you enjoy eating.
But if you just want the taste of the food, take a bite and then say "That's it, no more" and be done with it.

Another thing, if you get this huge craving for something, take 3 bites. After three bites, you'll be satisfied taste wise and there aren't enough calories and stuff in those three bites to completely throw your diet off.

I have one bite and end up eating all of whatever I am eating... heres a little advice for this that really helped me... take your three bites and then eat something that you can have on your diet... you get that craving out of your head and then the taste is gone so you dont want more... good luck

If you do the three/one-bite thing, savor the bite(s). Chew/Suck until all flavor is gone.
Also, make a list of what you're craving. Is it specific? [such as you only want something with chocolate.] Or do you not care? [praying: "Someone hand me anything with sugar right now" kind of thing.] If it's a specific thing, include a little more of that in your diet. Instead of never, ever, ever touching ice cream, allow a bowl once or twice a week as a treat for not touching it the other days. Just don't overindulge that night.
A general craving could probably be solved with a sucker or the three-bite thing.
If you are most definitely against giving in to cravings, painting your nails might work. Cravings only last ten or so minutes; by the time your nails are dry the craving will be gone. And it's not like throwing yourself into a school/work assignment. You may think you're paying attention to your work, but you're probably not and may mess up. At least with nails, polish remover can fix it in a second.
