I'd like to know when I should go. I haven't had any infections, smells or anything. I just want to know if I should get a general check-up or if it's not necesary until I get something.

You should go to the ob-gyn when you either:
1. Start having sex, even if you do not plan on using hormonal birth control and have no pain or other problems.
2. Notice pain, strange smelling discharge, strange looking discharge, or anything else abnormal of that sort.
3. When you turn 18, even if you have no problems at all and are not having sex.
You should go in any of those cases, whichever happens first.

~Ruth~Marie~ Althought getting checked really gets me nervous, it's part of staying healthy. Exactly. I don't know anyone who really likes going, but it feels great to walk out of there knowing that you're healthy, or if you do have a problem, that it is at least being taken care of.

Yeah, it's definitely uncomfortable... every single time. I've even had a kid which means there's been tons of equipment and hands up there that are a LOT bigger than the pap smear swabs, and yet I still say UGH when I need to get one. But it's 5 minutes that could potentially change your life, so what the hell.

you should go when you have a couple, even if you dont have started with your sexual life, everybody have questions, and is useful to have a pro answering them, and if you want, she/he will give you birthcontrol, and when you start, you will be protected (but only if you have a couple and he is not infected with AIDS & things, is very important, or any infection, in any of this cases, you must use a condom) well
i hate my english, sorry, :S

Just for future reference, in that context, you'd want "partner" instead of "couple".
