Did anyone see that the name on the wreckage of the ship was Eureka?
If thats where the Scub Coral got the name for their second Humanoid Coralian (Eureka), where did it get the name for the first? (Sakuya)

Yes, I sure noticed it I've noticed some odd things, I suppse. Once such thing being that when Renton talked with Diane, the shiny-whites people usually have on their irises were a blue color on Diane's. But when she came back with the news that the Scubs would let Renton try and save the world, they were back.
Anyways... It is very possible that the Scubs got the name for Eureka from that ship, and it's also possible that the shuttle's name is pronounced like how eureka usually is, yoo-ree-kah.
As for Sakuya's case.. hmm... Now I do wonder where they got her name from. Who knows? It's very possible that the Scubs are really good at making up names. razz It's even possible that the Voderak people named her that, but now that I think... she did have that drive in her chest, so it probably said her name on it.

I doubt a drive would've had her name on it Rekka...
It's possible that before Eureka was born, the drives showed the name "Sakuya" instead of showing "Eureka" and that was how the Voderac people figured out what to call her. Of course, that would be after the scub chose her name.
How they did is anyone's guess....Hey. Grab someone who knows japanese and ask them what "Sakuya" means. I'm sure it's similar to "Sakura", hence the sakura blossoms. Maybe the scubs just...liked sakura blossoms? razz

It largely depends on what kanji are used in a name like Sakuya. Though it has the same first two syllables as sakura, it's not necessarily related.
Saku can mean "to bloom", among a lot of other things. Ya can be added to the end of things to like specify it as "(this kind of) house", but again, it really depends on what kanji, if any, are used. That was just the only combination I could think of that made some sort of sense.
Personally, I think it's just a name with no real significance behind it. We wouldn't want to look too deep into names like Norb or Holland beyond anything just references, ya know. razz

my guess is proably off... but maybe the humans who found her named her sakuya. or .. maybe heres a biggr thought... maybe the creator... just forgot that detail.. like how in movies they movie props between cuts, thne a chair will be on one end of a room, then it will be in the center a second later.
but hey maybe its just a nice name for her... but soren has a good point.. her name has "to bloom in it" and she lives in that flower.... thing... hah idk .. i'm crazy !?
