The beach was a really stupid place to go when in April. Ashoka supposed, the ice rink was even a worse idea. But at least it was warm. And at least it wasn't cold on the otherside of the glass.
He liked to watch the other skaters. Some were with their children. Some were lovers. Some friends. Behind the glass he couldn't hear a word, but it was entertaining to make up their stories.
He would have skated himself, really, but he had a thing against blades on people's feet. It was like the rink had provided the skaters with their own personal weapons. What happened if a little girl fell over and an adult skated over her fingers? The thought made him shiver. He was here, really, for the people watching.
Okay, so Ashoka was also feeling slightly more chipper than he had been for the past few weeks, and finally got the guts to get outside in public. He supposed that might have had something to do with the fact that he had finally found some sort of reliable source of information. Or the hotchocolate he was holding. Either or.
Next to him, snug ontop of his book bag, the red wand lay.

(( Sorry this took me so long. I ran into family. ))
WHY was she here? Nessalyn couldn't really think of why, but she'd been told it was a good cardio workout if done right. And it was something Vilia would enjoy, as they would go fast and have fun.
If she could master it, that is. The skates were very awkward, as this was a new activity for the Carthasian woman. Shakily, she hobbled forward over the padded mats, and nearly fell over....right onto a red wand.
Alright. Mystical ghosts and all that was one thing. Being thrown time and again at these guardians was something entirely different. Was this one giant cosmic social? Would she get no peace until she'd met every single one of them?
What if more showed up? Oh goodness. With a slight yelp, she toppled again, and looked up to the person next to the wand. "I'm quite sorry! I'm bad at this!"

Ashoka really wasn't expecting some random lady to run into him, at all, really. Quite unexpected. Not that he had been expecting anything in the first place.
Instinctively, he stood to help her, at the same time setting his styrofoam cup down. Perhaps in an equally instinctive reflex, Ashoka grabbed up the red wand from its resting place.
"I-it's alright, about the skates. I don't... at all. Skate, that is." Awkwardly, he rubbed behind his ears. "I'm just here because it's a place to hangout." Mhmm. Because the skating rink was really somewhere where you just went to just-because (even if they had awesome hot chocolate and cookies). Small talk. Bad. Quickly, he added, "Do you need any help?"
