The Shinigami: Hikari

-Basic Information-

Name: Hikari
Clan: n/a
Age: 15
Gender: Female
Rank: Shinigami Academy Student

-Appearance-

Height: 142 cm

Weight: 45 kg

Hair: Dark Red (almost black), neck-length with bangs about a quarter the way down her forehead

Eyes: Slanted, Hazel

Clothing:
Hikari's shihakusho is pretty much the standard for any shinigami. The only exception is no obvious holster for her sheathed zanpakutou. It has several pockets hidden away on the inside; though, what she uses them for is still a mystery. A close inspection reveals very intricate, chaotic swirls, like a galaxy, carefully sewn into the fabric. They are almost impossible to see without some very close inspection. When in the real world, she wears a traditional kimono colored mixed with momiji (maple) and sakura (cherry pink) in an autumn motif depicting a sakura (cherry tree) with its leaves swirling around it.

Physical Description:
The first thing to notice about Hikari is how young she is. She's only spent seven years as a plus and has barely aged at all physically since she died at eight. Her skin is as flawless as any child, and there are no telling marks like scars anywhere on her body. When she heals, she seems to heal completely and immaculately, possibly to the chagrin of opponents who cut her. Her hair looks like she cut it herself, with her own zanpakutou no less. Even still, it holds this oddly elegant appearance, especially with the red tint. The only distinguishing feature is a birthmark just below her right collar bone which, strangely enough, is the same chaotic swirl as the crossguard of her zanpakutou and odd pattern on her shihakusho. It's usually hidden by her shihakusho and loose-fitting undergarments.

Background:
When Hikari was alive, she was born into a family that had no familial name, an indication that she's from the feudal era. She didn't have what one might call an impressive life. She died when she was eight. How did she die? She was trampled in the middle of a battlefield, by horses, as she was playing some game she made up off the top of her head. That's right. She thought a battlefield, where people were fighting over who-knows-what, was the neatest of all places to go play a game. At that point, her spirit separated from her body. Hikari became a plus, and that is that.

She remained a plus for just a few years. Why did she stick around? She wanted to play with all those nice soldiers. Nice? Didn't they trample her? That girl was never right in the head, no matter how intelligent she actually was. The soldiers never stayed, though. They fulfilled their purpose in life and just...left. Hikari was left alone. She didn't mind, though. She was as happy as a clam. She even got to watch her body consumed by carrion and decompose! It was the neatest thing to watch.

Over the course of four years, she ran out of things to do and games to play. She couldn't even terrorize the locals anymore. They simply grew tired of all the wandering spirits. It was like a cold door had been closed on her, and that's when the hollow came. Being the first thing she'd come across that could see her, she tried to talk to it. She wanted to play. Instead, it let out this blood-curdling scream and tried to consume her spirit.

Was she afraid? No. She thought it was some kind of game. Hikari got lucky, though. A shinigami saved her. As the mouth of the hollow nearly rent her shoulder from her body, the zanpakutou of the shinigami intercepted those jaws. Hikari felt pain and sensed blood for the first time. She hadn't even gotten a sense of her blood whens he was trampled. She watched, wide-eyed, as the shinigami and hollow fought. Then the shinigami dealt the hollow a finishing blow, and Hikari was covered in blood of the hollow.

The shinigami saw something to fear then. The spirit of a child, looking no older than eight, suddenly began the transformation into a hollow. The fortunate thing was that the chain of destiny was merely still corroding, but it was to the stage of extreme pain. Hikari actually yelled out in pain. Before she could become a hollow, the shinigami rushed to perform soul burial. Hikari was saved from becoming a hollow, but a deep-rooted hatred for them formed at that instant. Why? That's a question nobody could ever know.

When Hikari showed up in Soul Society, the shinigami who saved her sought her out. There was a worry that the young girl might have become a hollow at some point. Was that even possible? Hikari was found terrorizing the neighborhood. How? She was an extremely hungry child. She had a surprising reiatsu, and it was assumed it best to get her trained as quickly as possible. Thus Hikari begins her journey to become a shinigami...

Personality:
Hikari has something of a split personality. This may have been caused by the exact method she entered Soul Society. It's a lot like bipolarism, but it's far more severe. She has one personality that seems kind, gentle, and sweet. She respects her elders and even seeks their wisdom. She's quite content and happy. Her other personality is cruel, unforgiving, and spiteful. She respects only strength, and her sword sings for her. She seeks only blood, be it her own or others. In any state, she is happy and content to be with her blade. Separating her from Munashii is seen as pretty much the same declaring war. Hikari will talk to her zanpakutou and seems to know it has a name; though, there's no clear evidence she actually knows that name or at least is anywhere near shikai. She refered to her blade as "she" or as the avatar she last saw (Luna-chan or Artemis-chan). One final thing to note is the fact that she hates hollow.

Other: A hollow lives within Hikari, and this hollow calls herself Sumizome.

The Zanpakutou: Munashii

-Zanpaktou-

Zanpaktou Name: Munashii

Zanpaktou Call: Shurikesu, Munashii!

Sealed Appearance:
Munashii has a very unassuming appearance. It appears as a standard katana whose hilt has small spines sticking out and crossguard spirals somewhat chaotically yet gracefully. When the blade is drawn, the kanji "Mamoru" can be seen at the base and a small groove follows the entire length of the flat of the blade on either side. The sheath is rather plain, including the pink ribbon tied at the base. It's ninety centimeters long.

Zanpaktou Type: Kidou, Void (time/space)

Zanpaktou Soul: Munashii Ryuu and Munashii Neko
The avatar for Munashii is actually two, and both are very much femine. The first thing to note is how close to human they appear. Each has distinct characteristics as shown by the kanji script on their forehead. The lady dressed in a blue kimono is labeled "Ryuu" and has a small, folded pair of wings. The lady dressed in a red kimono is labeled "Neko" and has fuzzy ears atop her head. They each have a tail extending from their backside that seems to reach out to the other and a knot joins the two together. Each has an almost ghastly appearance because their feet and legs cannot be seen. It remains to be seen if they simply don't have them, like ghosts, or their kimono cover such features. What is most interesting is Hikari's reaction to them. She usually calls the dragon by Luna, seeing her in a sane state of mind. She usually calls the cat by Artemis, seeing her in a bloodlust state of mind.

-Shikai-

Shikai Appearance:
Hikari always fights with both her zanpakutou and 'her' sheath. Upon entering shikai, she has the kanji "Mamoru" (to Guard) 'etched' in blood-red upon her forehead. She now holds two swords, one a katana and one a tantou. The katana occupies her right hand, and the tantou occupies her left hand. It's obvious her zanpakutou had undergone a transformation, but its the sheath that has undergone the grandest as it has become a second sword.

The katana is longer and pitch black. The base of the blade has the kanji "Ofensu" now. The first one-hundred twenty-two centimeters of the blade is almost perfectly straight. The last twenty centimeters gently curve to end the blade. It looks almost too straight to be a katana, but the gentle curve allows it to retain that look. The hilt is oddly elongated with spines that look longer. There's now a tassel with the same gleam as the moon. The crossguard loses the swirl to become a half-moon. The katana really looks like an ordinary blade, nothing too ornate about it.

The tantou also has a pitch black blade, and the kanji at its base reads "Defensu" as if to match and oppose the katana. The hilt is just short enough to fit in Hikari's hand, and there is no tassel to speak of. The crossguard is zealously oversized, as if to emphasize the kanji on both blades. It actually sweeps down to cover the side of her arm that would be exposed in battle (the "outer" arm) down to her elbow. It seems rigid and quite sturdy. The most unique feature of the tantou is the final eight centimeters of the blade. It seems to sweep out in an allusion to fire.

Powers:

Upon entering shikai, all RP consumed by Shuusoku are regained. All modifier penalties as a result from Shuusoku from the sealed state are removed.

Shuusoku [Resolved] - Hikari has two, basic stances. When she's defensive, she can only attack with each hand once per round (no matter her normal attack per round). The advantage to this stance is +1 dodge per level. She cannot release Yobi while in a defensive stance; though, counters still accrue. When she's on the offensive, she periodically (every 3 rounds of combat) releases a pounding reiatsu pulse that can flat foot her opponent [lose agility and awareness modifier to dodge] for one round. This is treated as a free action reiatsu check, no other modifiers used [attack: d20 + reiatsu modifier] [dodge: d20 + reiatsu modifier]. In shikai, this does not deplete RP, but there are no higher tier effects.

Shinkan [Silence] - Hikari's dodge is increased by 1 per 10 points in reiatsu control.

Yobi [Reserve] - At first, Hikari's shikai seems to give her nothing but a few new techniques and better chance to dodge (because 'void absorbs stuff'). Her normal attack and damage do not increase. This is, in fact, a deception. With every normal attack made, a number is added to a stack counter. This is with every hit or miss. At any point, Hikari may expend an attack phase to use any number of counters she has accumulated. These counters use shikai damage calculations [base + strength modifier + zanjutsu modifier + reiatsu modifier] but kidou attack modifiers.

Techniques:

Munashii Suraisu [Void Slice]
Hikari slides her katana across her tantou, so that grating metal can be heard, before violently thrusting her katana towards a target. The distance between them is too great for either zanpakutou to hit, so this attack is based on standard kidou attack modifier plus an additional 1 per 10 reiatsu control, and damage is standard shikai. If the target is hit, a cut, much like one from a blade, appears, but there is no blood. The injury is also numb. At lower levels, this attack is only effective when it strikes the arms or legs of a target. In this case, acquires either a -4 penalty to attack or -8 penalty to dodge. Things start to get interesting when Hikari reaches level 18, 22, 28, 32, and 38. At first, any effect only lasts for 2 rounds. At each 'level up' (new requirement level) when a new effect is added, an additional 3 rounds is added (for a total of 20 rounds).
Effect: varies by where struck, 2 - 20 rounds based on level
Level 1: target -4 attack (arm) or -8 dodge (leg)
Level 2: target -1 reiatsu modifier (gut); +6 RP cost
Level 3: target -1 awareness modifier (back)
Level 4: target -1 strength modifier (arm) or -1 agility modifier (leg)
Level 5: target -1 intelligence modifier (head); +12 RP cost
Level 6: target -1 vitality modifier (chest); Hikari may now release Munashii Suraisu up to her normal number of attacks per round but RP cost increases by 50% per additional release

Reiatsu Cost: 12 + 50% per additional release (Level 6) (no more than standard 1H attacks per round)
Requirements
Level 2 - Hikari Level 18
Level 3 - Hikari Level 22
Level 4 - Hikari Level 28
Level 5 - Hikari Level 32
Level 6 - Hikari Level 38

Kuuhaku Awa [Vacuum Bubble]
Hikari surrounds herself with reiatsu to partially deflect incoming attacks for a number of rounds equal to her reiatsu modifier.
Effect: ignore [vitality modifier * 1.5 + 2 per 10 kidou] damage per round
Reiatsu Cost: 28
Requirements
Level: 7
Kidou: 30
Reiatsu: 34
Reiatsu Control: 40

Kanjin Isou [Vital Removal]
Hikari tightly squeezes the grip of her katana zanpakutou while bringing that fist close to her face. A red reiatsu, which could be mistaken for blood at first glance, begins seeping out between the cracks in her fist. This reiatsu pours over her sword before she attacks (for her normal attacks per round). Her Yobi do not accrue during this attack, which steals reiatsu from the target to replenish Hikari.
Effect: +2 per 10 reiatsu control to hit, drains 20% - 40% of Hikari's maximum RP from target per landing attack and regenerates hers by that amount, overflow heals her HP by 1/4 remaining
Reiatsu Cost: 15% Hikari's maximum RP
Requirements
Level: 10
Kidou: 40
Reiatsu: 42
Reiatsu Control: 50

Ikoi [Rest]
Hikari extends a distortion over a wide field which causes a feeling of relaxation and calm. This is treated as an attack [standard kidou + reiatsu modifier] that can be dodged [standard dodge]. Once under the influence of the field, Hikari determines what is experienced. She can heal [for additional RP cost per person beside herself], which ends Ikoi immediately, or reduce opponents dodge and attack capabilities for a certain amount of time.
Effect: opponent(s) attack and dodge modifiers are reduced by half for 5 to 10 rounds based on RP spent; heal self and up to 5 additional persons for vitality modifier + 6 per 10 kidou + 2 per 10 reiatsu control
Reiatsu Cost: 40 + 25 per additional round; 40 + 15 per additional person
Requirements
Level: 15
Kidou: 60
Reiatsu: 46
Reiatsu Control: 70

Bakyu-mu Kizu [Cut into Vacuum]
A technique focusing the spacial distortions of Munashii into a single cut. At first, the cut appears normal in every respect, except it doesn't bleed. Then, as if a twisted joke, blood spurts out as if being sucked by the vacuum of the void. It hurts like mad. This is Hikari's penultimate strike, and there's a telling sign she's about to use this. She crosses her arms over her chest and stretches her swords so they arch behind her. The attack is difficult to read because one strike will be a feint as she swings them, full force, towards her opponent.
Effect: feint swing at half normal attack, real swing at twice normal attack, normal damage from zanpakutou upon successful attack, all stack counters released at wound as if target were flat footed
Reiatsu Cost: 60
Requirements
Level: 20
Zanjutsu: 60
Reiatsu: 54
Reiatsu Control: 90

Munashii Dansu [Void Dance]
A technique that has Munashii living up to its call. This is Hikari's ultimate attack in shikai. Hikari draws back and launches into a wild frenzy of attacks (twice as many at 2/3 accuracy). To the target, this may appear to be a desperation move. It is far from it. She is in full control and understands exactly what she is doing. A few attacks may land, but they are all predictable and easy to avoid, despite how many and quickly they are launched. Each swing is, of course, opening a spacial tear. These, however, are not being added to the stack counter. This attack is deadly for another reason. The moment the fury of attacks end, Hikari jumps back, tightening her grip on both katana and tantou zanpakutous. As she does this, a chaotic swirl of reiatsu seems to emit from her At this point, the real attack [agility modifier + reiatsu modifier + 2 per 10 kidou + 2 per 10 reiatsu control] that must be dodged [base + agility modifier + awareness modifier + 4 per 10 reiatsu sense] begins here. Those spacial tears Hikari opened now expand and connect together, enveloping the target for devastating damage.
Effect: target's current HP is divided by vitality modifier
Reiatsu Cost: 180
Requirements
Level: 30
Zanjutsu: 70
Kidou: 90
Reiatsu: 90
Reiatsu Control: 110

-Techniques and Magic-

Zanjutsu Techniques:

Name: Kujiku Kiriai - Break the Crossing Sword (lit: Break Crossing Swords)
Description: Instead of getting out of the way of the attack, the off hand weapon is used to 'break' the opponent's sword swing. If successful, it throws the opponent off balance. Once off balanced, the opponent must regain balance or await a crushing blow as the next sword swing is made with the whole weight of the daisho user in an all-out, defense passing attack.
Requirements:
Daisho
Level 4
Zanjutsu - 25
Agility - 16
Awareness - 16
Intelligence - 22
Damage: Standard User Zanjutsu Damage

Notes: The dodge for this attack is done as base dodge + awareness + strength + 2 per 10 zanjutsu ranks. If the dodge is successful then the next initial dodge that the opponent makes does not get the benefit of their agility modifier. When this technique is used the user forfeits one attack in order to perform the technique, but receive full strength bonus regardless of which hand they use.

Hakuda Techniques:

-none-

Kidou Techniques:

Name: Chiyu no Ichi, Ichiban a Chiyu
Healing Art # 1, First Lesson Of Healing
Effect: User places both palms on wounded being. The user recites the Kidou's incantation, and the energy put into the technique is converted into healing chi to cause the hurt person to become healed. Fairly basic technique, and allows for most younger shinigami to heal themselves and others when they are beginning their quest in becoming a Shinigami.
Damage: [Healing] 10-15 + Reiatsu Mod + 2 Per 10 Kidou Ranks
Reiatsu Cost: 5
Chant: Great whales, white and gray, spurting water of the living from holes of mammals, healing the scalding words of the wise. Chiyu no Ichi, Ichiban a Chiyu.
[10/10][1/5]
-----------------------------------------
Name: Chiyu no Ni, Kihontekikyuujo
Healing Art # 2, Basic Aid
Effect: The most basic type of healing technique, this kidou is a requirement to know if you are in the fourth division and should be learned by most shinigami for it is basically basic first aid kit technique. The user, basically puts his hands on wherever the minor injury is and channels some reiatsu to repair the wound, this technique is efficient only when the wound is a minor wound.
[Healing] 4-30 + 2 Every 5 Kidou Ranks
Reiatsu Cost: 10
[0/10][0/10]
-----------------------------------------
Name: Chiyu no San, Senkou Shuuzen
Art: Healing Art # 3, Flash Repair
Effect: Used mainly to stop bleeding in a pinch, this technique is used by focusing reiatsu into your fingertips and pressing them against the target's chest, preferably above their heart. The reiatsu then flows through the targets veins and arteries, repairing damage to them, as well as slightly repairing major organs they are connected to.
Healing: 1-25 + Reiatsu Mod + 2 Per 10 Kidou Ranks, but if used on a target thats on the brink of death (under -5), it instead heals the target to 5% of their original health. (ex. someone with -6/20hp would automatically be healed to 1/20hp)
Reiatsu Cost: 17
Chant: Oh, blood, fluid of life; hasten and return to that from which you've come! Chiyu no San, Senkou Shuuzen!
[0/10][0/15]
-----------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------
Name: Hadou no Ichi, Ranboukaze
Art: Destructive Art # 1, Violent Wind
Effect: A powerful gust of wind is blasted from the user's palm and deals a blow like that of a kick to the stomach or a punch.
Reiatsu Cost: 5
Damage: 5 - 20 +2 per 10 Kidou
-----------------------------------------
Name: Hadou no Ni, Happaji
Art: Destructive Art # 2 , Explosive Willpower
Effect: The user of this Hadou must bring their hands to the center of his/her chest, fingers intertwining. Focusing reiatsu into their hands, the user pulls the hands apart, forming bands of reiatsu between fingers. The energy then must be forced into one palm or another before it can be released at an enemy. The closer the attack comes to the enemy, the brighter it becomes. The trail of the weapon is five loose wraps of energy tied to appear like a comet's tail. The lower one's life is, the stronger this attack becomes.
Damage: [5-15] +2/+4 to max/min per 10 Kidou ranks. Also +3/+5 to max/min when HP reaches below 50%.
Reiatsu Cost: 20
Chant: Hallowed fields and rotting dreams, release desire. Transgressions repaid, go forth and rend. Hadou no Ni; Happaji!
[2/10][0/10]
-----------------------------------------
Name: Hadou no San, Okibi Hitohana
Art: Destructive Art # 3, Blazing Fire Flower
Effect: The user opens his/her palm upon finishing the chant to reveal flame-red reiatsu 'flowering' into shuriken, equal in number to what the user is willing to spend. The shuriken propel themselves towards the target upon being formed. Note that a maximum number of five shuriken may be created
Damage: 1 - 4 +2/4 (min/max) per 10 Kidou per shuriken
Reiatsu Cost: 8 per shuriken
Chant: Flutter unto the ashes, flame upon the sky. Hadou no San; Okibi Hitohana!
[0/10][0/15]
-----------------------------------------
Name: Hadou no Yon, Byakurai
Art: Destructive Art # 4 , White lightning
Effect: Fires a bolt of white lightning from the caster's finger.
Damage: 20 – 50 + 4 per Kidou rank the caster have.
Reiatsu cost: 10 Rp.
[0/10][0/20]
-----------------------------------------
Name: Hadou no Go, Reiki Genkotsu
Art: Destructive Art # 5, Aura Fist
Effect: The user condenses air tightly around his/her fist before 'punching' in what would obviously miss from such a great distance. The condensed air leaves the user's fist with a light, yellow glow and impacts the target like a regular punch would (except it's kidou).
Damage: 25 - 60 +2 per 10 kidou + 2/4 (min/max) per 10 kidou
Reiatsu Cost: 20
Chant: Power and arrest. Force and will. Hadou no Go, Reiki Genkotsu!
[0/10][0/25]
-----------------------------------------
Name: Hadou no Roku, Chouzan
Art: Destructive Art # 6, Ruined Blossoms
Effect: The user pays for up to ten damaging blossoms; the rest are for show. As the user chants, s/he is drawing the shape of a blossomed flower in the air. A trail of reiatsu outlines this blossomed flower clearly. Upon completion of the chant, the user thrusts his/her fore- and middle- fingers through the center of the blossomed flower, and each blossom begins to crack. When they shatter, the target is surrounded by dozens of broken blossoms, a fraction of which are of any damaging potential.
Damage: 5 - 15 + 2 per 10 reiatsu control +2/4 per 10 kidou per blossom
Reiatsu Cost: 18 per blossom
Chant: Fall from the sky, scattered and scared. Bring vengeance upon the winds. Hadou no Roku, Chouzan!
[0/10][0/30]
-----------------------------------------
Name: Hadou no Nana, Hasaki Ichijin
Art: Destructive Art #7, Bladed Wind
Art: Hadou
Effect: The user forms their reiatsu into a sword, in the shape of a standard, nondescript zanpakuto. The sword itself glows, its color reflecting the users innermost personality. As soon as the sword solidifies, the blade shatters into dozens of pieces and surround the user. A burst of wind then shoots from the user, propelling the blades at high velocities in all directions. The locations of the shards before the blast can be controlled by the user, allowing them to focus the attack on one area or avoid harming allies.
Damage: 40-75 + 2 per 10 ranks in Rei Control +2/+4 to max/min per 10 Kidou ranks.
Reiatsu Cost: 30
Chant: Tides of life, winds of change, rain death upon all who oppose! Hadou no Nana, Hasaki Ichijin!
[0/10][0/35]
-----------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------
Name: Bakudou no Ichi, Sai
Binding Art # 1, Obstruction
Sai, is a low level Kidou that forces the targets arms behind them, preventing them from using them. This spell is good for Shinigami that would prefer to restrain the opponent, but generally only works against weaker opponents.
Effect: Victim cannot attack or make any action that requires the use of his/her arms.
Breaking: Strength check DC: 10 + User Reiatsu modifier + 2 Per point 10 points in kidou the caster have.
Rp Cost: 4 Rp.
[10/10][1/5]
-----------------------------------------
Name: Bakudou no Ni, Nami Museru
Art: Binding Art #2, To Be Choked By A Wave
Effect: The user binds invisible strings of reiatsu around the target's lungs, making it hard for the target to breath. The skill isn't strong enough to actually choke, but it gets the job done by slowing the reaction time of the target. The opponent loses their agility mod to dodge for one post.
Breaking: Reiatsu Check DC: 10 + User Reiatsu modifier + 2 Per point 10 points in kidou the caster have.
Reiatsu Cost: 12
Chant: Waves fill the lungs, dampen spirits. Bakudou no Ni, Nami Museru!
[5/10][0/10]
-----------------------------------------
Name: Bakudou no San, Kakougan Hyouhi
Art: Binding Art # 3, Granite Skin
Effect: The user forces their reiatsu against the target's skin, until it solidifies into a substance with similar qualities to stone. The target is unable to move any part of their body while the effect is still active, however, they are also unable to be damaged either. The effect can be broken with a successful breaking roll by anybody, however if done by another person, the target of the attack takes 2 damage. The effect lasts for up to five rounds, at which time the stone turns to sand and harmlessly falls off the target.
Breaking: Strength Check DC: 10 + User Reiatsu modifier + 2 Per 10 Kidou Caster Ranks
Reiatsu Cost: 18
Chant: Stone, steel, and flesh. Meld, and absolve each other of all impurities! Bakudou no San, Kakougan Hyouhi!
[0/10][0/15]
-----------------------------------------
Name: Bakudou no Yon, Kusari no Soutei
Binding Art # 4, Chain of Binding
Effect: This spell causes black chains of reiatsu to spring from the fingertips of the user, and bind around the target, in the form of spiritual strands. The strands wrap, specifically, the arms, legs, and throat of the target.
Breaking: Reiatsu Check DC 10 + User Reiatsu Mod + 2 Per 10 Kidou Caster Ranks
Reiatsu Cost: 20
Chant: O Lord from below, cursed black power which seeps through the Earth, three chains of fate, entwine thy enemy, seal thy opposition. Bakudou no Yon, Kusari no Soutei!
[0/10][0/20]
-----------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------
Name: Boubi no Ichi, Sunao
Art: Defensive Art # 1, Meek
Effect: The caster channels a portion of his/her reiatsu to create a damage absorbing barrier. This barrier is represented by a light, teal aura around the target, be it the user or someone else. All damage to protected target is ignored until the barrier breaks.
Breaking: 1 - 8 + reiatsu mod + 2/4 (min/max) per 10 kidou points + 1 per 10 reiatsu points
Reiatsu Cost: 6
Chant: Boubi no Ichi, Sunao!

Name: Boubi no Ni, Shi-rudo
Art: Defensive Art # 2, Shield
Effect: The caster channels reiatsu to slightly shield from enemy attacks. The only obvious indication this spell is in effect is when first cast. The caster is surrounded by reiatsu for an instant before it fades. After that, the caster can ignore 1 + 2 per 10 kidou damage dealt for 5 rounds.
Breaking: n/a
Reiatsu Cost: 9
Chant: Boubi no Ni, Shi-rudo!

Unique Techniques:

Shuusoku (Resolved) - An unusual technique that Munashii employs. The spines along the hilt drain reiatsu from whoever wields her. In Hikari's case, the kanji "Mamoru" glows a light, crimson red. Whenever this occurs, a portion of Hikari's ability to use kidou is diminished to support an increase in reiatsu pressure. This can startle even the strongest opponents and completely unbalance weaker ones. As the technique compounds and threatens to drain away all kidou from Hikari, the rise in reiatsu pressure becomes intense and can even throw off the most skilled.
  • every three rounds of combat reduces Hikari's RP by 10%
  • every three rounds of non-combat restores Hikari's RP by 10%
  • every reduction causes reiatsu pressure increase of 25%
  • every restoration causes reiatsu pressure decrease of 25%
  • every time kanji "Mamoru" glows forces opponent to make reiatsu control check (at penalty of Hikari's reiatsu control [ie: opponent +5 minus Hikari +3 equal +2] per glow [ie: opponent +5 minus Hikari +3 times 2 kanji glow equal -1]) or be thrown off balance
  • every four glows (doubling) forces opponent to make awareness check (at penalty per doubling after first [ie: opponent +2 minus second doubling equal +1]) or lose one point per check
  • if RP reaches 0 reiatsu pressure reaches maximum bounds (10x) forcing opponent to make level check (difference in levels between opponent and Hikari [ie: opponent level 10 minus Hikari level 4 equal +6]) or further checks take no bonus or penalty [ie: check +0]

To Grow: Experience

Experience Total: 5240
Next Level: 6000

Hikari versus Aichou: Ever wanted to see a human turned cricket ball? OHTKO! [500 experience]

Hikari versus Rikatsu: Hikari and Rikatsu dodge back. Though involving mostly dodging, he was able to lay the beat down on his smaller opponent. [510 experience]

Hikari versus Haro: Hikari won the first of three matches, but Haro won out the last two to bring it to a 1:2 in his favor.
Reiatsu and Intelligence Training: Hikari discovers her reiatsu pulse and that reiatsu pressure is nothing without intellectual insight. She learned from a book Nagi 'accidentally' gave about all sorts of things, from reiatsu use to kidou. She even sharpened her zanpakutou enough with her reiatsu pulse to slice a boulder in two.
[1470 experience, +1 intelligence, +2 reiatsu]

Shikai Training: [Posts 1 - 2] [Post 3 - 100] Hikari is pulled into the sanctum of her inner world. She meets the Munashii twin avatars and a much darker entity. Her mind is more crowded than she first thought. [1665 experience]

Hikari participated in shunpo training and managed to tag the teacher earning the [2] marker. Afterwards, she rested for a bit before sparring with both Shunketsu and Haruko. Shunketsu was able to defeat her, but Haruko was unable. [650 experience, +2 agility, +1 reiatsu, +5 hohou]

Hikari practiced and learned three kidou as well as mastering one. She mastered Ranboukaze and learned Sai and Ichiban a Chiyu. [445 experience]

The Hollow: Sumizome

Name: Sumizome
Class: Inner Hollow
Weapon: Zanpakutou

Physical:
Physically, Sumizome looks exactly like Hikari. As all inner hollow, she takes on a negative aspect. She's the exact opposite in coloration as Hikari. When she is able to free herself from the inner world, her hollow form has the strange appearance of being dolphin-like. The first thing to appear is the mask. It is distinctly round with a long, cylindrical snout. The eyes gently curve up before sharply turning down the looping closed, giving an almost cartoonish appearances while maintaining an evil look. It's hard to see if there's a mouth. This is also the vizard mask.

As Sumizome takes over more and more, Hikari's body may change. Being a controller of void (time/space), the body is obviously made more for swimming. It's an odd dolphin/human hybrid (if that's even imaginable) which has a neck naturally designed to bend to look upwards as well as webbed hands and feet which take an almost fin-like appearance.

Mental:
Sumizone isn't as intelligent as Hikari, but she's influence for insanity. They both have approximately the same reiatsu pressure, so they both take full advantage of that. Sumizone, however, is the real driving force behind the lust for battle. She's always there, whispering in Hikari's ears. It'll take more than the Munashii twins to silence her.

History:
Sumizone was released as an entity of real threat and fathom at the instant a hollow was killed in front of Hikari, and she's the one who prodded the hatred of all hollow. She seeks her own power, so she doesn't mind if other hollow get knocked off. In fact, she encourages it. The fact that a shinigami rescued them doesn't sit well with her, but she doesn't let that affect her. She just can't convince Hikari to hate them, especially since she joined their ranks. She bides her time, knowing full well she has all the time necessary.

Zanpakutou Class Beginner:
I got to meet Hentai-san (Hissori Shunketsu), Poku-chan (Haruko), Onnarashii-san (Megumi Aoibara), and Kobuki-san (Basahara Long). There were also the sensei! Miyoko-sensei and the really strong Ai-chan (Aichou). Se-bu-chan (Ran Hanazakari) caught me after my nekonin friend, Ai-chan, turned me into a... What did she call it? ...cricket ball. It hurt! It was so fun I think I might just have to spar with her again. Once I'm stronger. Maybe I have some senpai to rely on! Oh yeah! Before I forget, I got medical treatment. It topped off the day to see Se-bu-chan and Ai-chan make their friends really cool! Nyann! Ai-chan gave me her big, red hat and a promise. She said I should grow stronger and seek her out when I'm ready. I'm not strong enough now, but I know I'll meet some strong people along the way!

Well. Class ended without much more fuss. Why couldn't class be more exciting? Poku-chan and Hentai-san got beat. I decided I'll challenge them to spar later! I also want to challenge Onnarashii-san and Kobuki-san. They beat the other two, so they should be strong! Oh! I can't forget to play with Se-bu-chan either! She was great!

Seireitei Emergency:
As I was wandering the dormitories, Ai-chan suddenly came by. I think somebody was about to talk to me... Anyway. It was great seeing her again! She hurried off before I could say anything, then I decided to follow Hentai-san around. He didn't seem to be all the busy, and an alarm went off. It was loud and hurt my head! I followed Hentai-san to some weird building before he wandered off to Sōkyoku Hill. He hurried up, but I took my time. It was a steep climb, and I was told we were supposed to start training right away! Except...I wasn't given anything to do right away. I got bored and started spinning!

When I was assigned a sparring partner, it was Kehi-san (Rikatsu Kitai). I was told I had to fight completely unarmed! Unarmed! How is somebody supposed to fight like that? I don't think I like this hakudo very much! While I was fighting Kehi-san, he seemed to be having an easier time about it. I kept missing and missing, but he was able to land several hard blows! Then I started hearing this strange voice. It kept taunting me and taunting me... It sounded a lot like me! I wonder who she is? I think Luna-chan or Artemis-chan stopped her... I don't know, though. The sensei ended the sparring before I could find out...

When I awoke from a fuzzy dream later, I was under a tree, and Gin-san (Yagawashi Shiru) showed up. I guess Kehi-san wanted to talk to because he came by. Then Hentai-san showed up! It was like a big secret meeting or something. Anyway. It was eventually time for bed. When I awoke the next day, there was a knock and a note with a message at the door. I get to fight with my friend (zanpakutou) today! I tried to talk to Hentai-san as I awaited my opponent, but Sukonku-baka (Haro) tries to sneak attack me! I had fun in our matches, though. We had to go three out! I beat him the first time. He must have underestimated me 'cause he came back and won the last two matches. The second match took a while, and I thought I could pull out a victory. The third match didn't take him much time at all. Much as I hate to admit it, he took me in two hits! Only Ai-chan is allowed to do that! I got a second gift, though. Sukonku-baka left me a silver ring. Weird...

Oh well. I decided to start training my reiatsu, and I quickly found out that I needed a lot of mental astuteness to go along with that. Maybe I can figure out that weird flare that occurs when I'm fighting with my friend. When I couldn't train any more, I approached Bu-tsu-kun (Nagi), the sensei for the sparring. He seems nice, and he's not much taller than me. We had a conversation, and I found out about somebody with a real sharp reiatsu. I think I'm going to have fun! As I trained, I found myself getting tired and hungry the more I used my reiatsu. I asked Bu-tsu-kun for a book. He accidentally dropped one, but Luna-chan doesn't think it was an accident. I took it and started studying.

I learned that the pattern of my reiatsu pressure is my reiatsu pulse, and that this is a useful way of tracking shinigami and hollow. That's good to know. I also learned another exercise. It feels more intense, but it also seems a bit easier. Maybe it's because I trained my pulse first... Anyway. When I got hungry again, I got some fruit from Nagi's table and met Ato-san (Rei-Huro). Well. Ato-san ignored me, so I decided to continue with training. I learned lots of cool stuff reading that book. I learned about reiatsu training exercises, how to sharpen my reiatsu onto my friend, and about lots of kidou. I was finally satisfied with my training when I managed to cut a boulder using only my reiatsu. I can take a lot of things away from this training, at least. The best is probably all the kidou I learned. I learned the hadou and bakudou up to ten, but it'll be a while before I can use them.

After Bu-tsu-kun called the training off, I found myself in a disoriented state. I felt weird, but it was because I was drawn into my inner world... It's strange. It's the first time I met this weird lookalike of me, and she wasn't happy with me at all. We don't like each other, so it's probably a bad start. She called herself Sumizome when I defeated her, but that's when Luna-chan and Artemis-chan appeared and told me the real trial was about to start... The trials were long and tough. There were several points I thought I was going to die! I had to face one hollow twice, partly thanks to Sumizome. There were a lot of hollow I had to fight, but Luna and Artemis assured it was to bring out my full potential, and see how brightly it shines. It was tough, and they even showed me a harsh trial where everybody I knew died...and I couldn't do anything about it. Eventually, I showed them what they were looking for. Now I only need to get strong enough to hear their name!

As I was heading back to the dormitories to either get some rest or make some friends or talk to old ones, I ran into Takenaga-san (Ishikawa Masaru). We must have disturbed another student because Ninniku-san (Hokosaki Kaosu) spoke up. His room smelled heavily of garlic. As another showed up, Ninniku-san wanted to be called senpai. He's silly! Ninniku-san is Ninniku-san. The new classmate was Gokuro-san (Takumi Shin). We were called to classes before I could introduce myself to Gokuro-san, but I rushed off anyway. I want to know what we get to learn next!

What happened atop Sōkyoku Hill was amazing! Well. At first, there was just a sign telling us we'd be playing tag. Then Miyoko-taichou, as she's called now, showed us something really awesome. She showed us her friend in shikai, first. Then she apologized as her reiatsu exploded with the release of her bankai! I was totally stunned. I couldn't move or do anything. When she sealed her friend, I was able to recover just before Hiren-taichou showed up. Of course, Ai-chan and Bu-tsu-kun were there too, as taichou no less. Anyway. Hiren-taichou explained was tag is and set us to practice shunpo. After trying it, I know I'm not ready yet. I will be, though! When that step was out of the way, we were told that we had to try to tag Hiren-taichou. She ran off into the woods, and all the students had to follow. It was kinda tough, and I missed her my first try. I got her the second time, though! With [2] band on my arm, I made my way back to the top of the hill where I found Sukonku-baka was already there with [1] band. I don't know what these armbands mean, but they have some significance. Neh?

Anyway. Shortly, Hentai-san and Poku-chan also rejoined us at the top of the hill. I finally got to spar with them! Hentai-san managed to win, but I beat Poku-chan! Ban-chan seems to be a reliable healer. She stopped Hentai-san and Poku-chan's bleeding from their spar, just before mine. She also used this minty stuff to heal my bruises from both my spars. Oh yeah! We used bokken, but that was only after Ban-chan got mad about cleaning up the bleeding. After my spar with Poku-chan, Ban-chan came back from talking with Sukonku-baka and Hentai-san, but a new student showed up. He's Akai-san (Karite Kokyuu). For some reason, he challenged me to a spar. I never met him before, but he seems to like taking notes or something.

We were ordered to return to our dormitories, so I guess I'll never find out how that, particular spar was going to turn out. I'm not even completely sure it was going to be between Akai-san and me. It could have been Ban-chan taking him on. She's new, but she's pretty impressive already, with her medicines and all. I was a little disoriented on my trip back to my dormitory room, but I was relieved to find out it was probably because I already knew or was going to learn my zanpakutou names!

After a rather quick break, we were ordered to go to the Academy. I was excited because...because they said we were practicing kidou! When we got to the library, a new taichou showed up. I was so excited I forgot to name her... Anyway. I committed Ranboukaze, Sai, and Ichiban a Chiyu to memory. I should be able to use those in battle nicely. Ranboukaze, however, is special. I committed to mastering that spell. If I can't release my zanpakutou, then I'll have to rely on that hadou.

When we were finally called from our studies, Ai-chan chose me to fight by her side. She also chose Ninniku-san. Ato-san, Takenaga-san, and Hentai-san also joined up. Seeing that, I hoped our forces weren't being spread too thin just because of an enemy even Ai-chan fears...
