The History/Concept
Draco The Dragon:A constellation (not the popular dragon from the movie
Draco) only visible in the northern hemisphere, Draco is one of the few dragons seen in the night sky (or day sky if you like in AK). Most popularly known as Ladon, the dragon with 100 heads, that guarded the golden apples of the Hesperides. Ladon was later killed by Heracles and was placed in the sky as the constellation Draco by the Goddess Hera.
The Cat's Eye Nebula:Within the Constellation of Draco resides one of the first planetary nebulae to be discovered. And, similar to the dragon and it's many forms, the Cat's Eye nebula is one of the most complex nebulae out there. The magnificent bull's eye pattern of concentric rings, or shells, around the Cat's Eye are each the edge of a dust bubble pojected into space. It has been suggested that the rings are created by the dying star at the center of the nebula which ejects its mass in a series of pulses every 1,500-years.
