Have you ever noticed how some of the shows, such as king of queens and that one jake 2.0 and many many other shows have paintballing scenes in it? Have you also noticed how the actors only have goggles, and most of the time have them up on their heads so you can see their faces?
Yea, i know the show wants you to know who is who etc, but that is really bad publicity for paintball. Any of those actors if they were really playing could have been blinded. If they are going to use paintball in a scene, they should do it right.

I was watching a Real World/Road Rules kind of thing, where the contestant was up on a spinning platform with a paintball marker. They had to shoot at a target every time the platform spun around. The one up there was wearing a mask, which was all well and good, but the people on the ground weren't, and the ones on the platform were spraying paint every which-way. I was so pissed when I watched that. My family wondered why I was cursing at the TV.

yeah i did the same thing during fear factor. if i remember right they had an autococker with a clear EMPTY eggy, NO co2/nitro, goggles with no mask, and the "paintballs" or waht ever they were pretending to use....were making small sparks and catching bottles on fire and stupid stuff.... oh by the way this was all inside and everyone else standing around wasnt wearing any goggles or masks either
yeah that made me mad(er)....i hate fear factor anyways...its stupid and many times they arent fair to their contestants (i.e. they give special deals to some that they didnt give to somone who just got kicked off [like extra time, or bonus money])

On Fear Factor the contestants were shooting a limited WGP E-Orracle Autococker, with a 68/4500 Worr Gas. The clear Evolution 2 hopper was indeed quite full of legal paint and the only reason the bottles sparked when shot is because they were rigged on pressure sensitive pads, when a paintball hit the bottle it would trip off the pad and explode. The contestant and the host were both wearing JT goggles, there was no face protection but that doesnt matter they weren't shooting at each other. The other contestants were in a seperate room, quite safe. I was quite happy and pleased with that portion of the show, WGP and JT products were used quite safely and I saw nothing wrong. The only thing I felt was wrong is they all had horrible aim. xd

no i think we saw different things then....besides i at least had the autococker right, and i did mention i could have been wrong. point is the episode and/or clip that i saw were completely unsafe. even if they arent shooting at each other its important to wear goggles when in proximity. imagine if you are out on a makeshift paintball range and your friend slips and the marker falls and points at you and they accidently pull the trigger while they are falling....not exactly likely, but possible, and not a risk worth taking

I tend to agree with surrogate_dark...it doesn't matter if the contestant wasn't pointing at the host, he was within range of the marker, therefore, he should have worn complete protection. We all know the flight patterns of paintballs are really screwy, it's just not safe to take that chance.
