Im making a Colette costume for my friend and im having trouble with the jacket/ shaw thing that goes over her dress, i just dont know how to make the shape and get it to fity right and not have everything all uneven. we can't commission it because its not in her budget for the costume so does anybody have any ideas?

i see what you mean.. oh here is a nice pic i found on google that might help these pple who are on this post: pic its kinda like a poncho sorta just visualize the front panels and the sides and sew them lightly on the edges and you shoudl be good.hope that helps.

Also, from what I can see, the material needs to be rather stiff to hold it's shape. Wool might do that, cotton won't. But if you use wool and it rains, you smell like wet dog (my problem with my JROTC uniform). Covered cardboard might work for the shoulder pieces, but the main piece you can't do that with. I don't know. There's probably a better fabric for that kind of thing. I just don't know about it.

well it doesn thave to be stif material, you can use the steabilzer with with ironing it on or soem kind of starch or something like that. but a nice stiff fabric could be good too.
