Dude, Dras, you live near me! The hubby (Laren) hails from Rosedale/Overlea. And I promise there are rednecks in every part of MD. I know a family who lives in Columbia who knows how to do sustenance hunting (the mom's from Pennsyltucky), and my husband says the Edgewater area is rife with backwardness. We also still give him s**t about the time he was accosted by a drunk lady who was "so ********' lost" because she was on Taylor Avenue - she'd never been out of Essex before in her life. Ladies and gents, Ginger the Essex Blonde~!
Conversely, one of my sisters lives in the foothills in NC. Aside from more room to breathe, I don't notice a big difference between redneck levels there and here. Just different accents.

DrasBrisingr Darin Rosewood Whaddaya mean, "only rednecks in Maryland?!" I, sir, am offended that you have never heard of us Frednecks. Frederick County used to be THE redneck capital of the East Coast. ^_^ Where the hell in Maryland are you from to not have rednecks? Ah, well, I can say I haven't been much outside of the Baltimore/Bel Air area. I've moved down into NC now, but I can honestly say, I don't know many other rednecks from MD. And believe me, I know rednecks. My cousin Brandon kicks just about everyone from NC's a** on the scale of redneckness. And ever so fortunately, he's the one I grew up following around through the woods, over fences, across streams, and under all sorts of underbrush. You suck, I wish I had had that kind of childhood. I came from an upper-middle class family, but my dad was an electrician, a plumber, a mechanic, and about a billion other things before he got that high-paying job at the FCPS BoE. He tried to teach me that kind of stuff, but I unfortunately have no mechanical aptitude whatsoever. He wasn't much of a wilderness guy, although he'd been a farmer. That's the kind of stuff I'm really interested in--other than martial arts and metaphysics, of course.DrasBrisingr On a side note, is it really so hard to tell I'm female? Yes, actually, considering that you have a Wraith Cloak covering your face, and "Dras" is a masculine name from some culture--which one escapes me, it might be Norway. However, I knew you were a girl. A) I forgot because I haven't talked to you in so long, and B) I call everyone "sir," unless I'm in Japan, in which case I always use the "-dono" suffix with people I don't know. Don't ask me why, I just do. ^_^ And if I had remembered and didn't call everyone "sir," I'd do it just to poke fun at you.

Aside from more room to breathe, I don't notice a big difference between redneck levels there and here. Just different accents. Yeah, I know where Overlea is, though I haven't been through there but a few times. And I don't live there anymore, though I'm staying in Towson right now. Most of our family lives up here, so whenever I get a few days off school, we make the trip. And yeah, I'll admit there are quite a few...characters here. But I don't know, Brandon's pretty bad. Once you've lived in the vicinity of pure-blood rednecks for 12 years, it's easier to pick them out. And Darin, I know it's easy to do. Hell, I've been mistaken for a male in real life. It doesn't bother me all that much; I just like correcting people. And my grandfather owns like...50 acres of just woods, on top of all the pasture and farmland on his property. So as kids, we'd get into all sorts of trouble. Brandon and I came back to the house with about 9 little geese one time because we wanted to keep them, but our grandmother made us take them back. I always went home filthy, bloody, soaking wet, clothes torn, and happy. I miss it.
