I'm one of those entirely eclectic people with incredibly varied taste in music. I couldn't possibly narrow it down to a favorite genre, unless I could use soundtracks as a genre (but really, that encompasses everything).
Right now, I've been listening to a lot of blues, some classic rock and a bit of classical piano. And Muppets music. I never grow tired of the Muppets. And I've had the Pirates of Penzance stuck in my head for weeks while I try to narrow down which cast recording I want to buy. But I'm feeling a craving for Chinese erhu music coming up, so I think I'll add some to my playlist. *toddles off*

I too am pretty eclectic.. I'll listen to pretty much anything with a melody... sometimes without a melody.. haha.. My favorite band is Shonen Knife, and they kind of defy definition, they are punk-pop, I guess you could say, and from Japan. They have been called the "Osaka Ramones," but they are all girls =3 I'm really into Freezepop the last couple of years. They are a superawesome synthpop band from Boston and I love them tons! I went to see them the Friday before last and it was great!!! YAY FREEZEPOP. I grew up on classical music and classic rock/oldies. My mom and dad both had huge record collections and I fell asleep to classical and listened to stuff like the Beatles all day long. I love to listen/play classical music, and I listen to the oldies and classic rock stations a lot too. Oh and old-fashioned swing and big band music.. love that.. xD I like a lot of dumb music from when I was a kid.. 80s music and stuff.. I don't care much for current popular music, I think for the most part it's crap. I listen to a lot of indie stuff and unsigned techno artists. I like trance music a lot and a lot of instrumental stuff. I listen to a lot of music from Japan, China, Korea and Sweden.. and sometimes other stuff like from Brazil. I find most current popular American music incredibly boring and uninteresting, but if it's not too annoying I'll listen to it as well. ;D I'm pretty easy going, I'll rarely ever tell anyone to turn something off, I don't care for modern popular country music, but I love old stuff like Patsy Cline. OH, my undergraduate degree is in theatre, and I am a HUGE broadway nerd. I listen to showtunes probably more than anything else, of all varieties and eras. Er... I like a lot of other stuff. I'm really not too picky! xD Finally, here's MY LAST FM PAGE, which tracks the music I listen to on my computer. It's not entirely accurate, because it's missed a lot of stuff or left it unrecorded, plus it doesn't cover what I listen to during the day on the radio and etc. Oh, and my favorite online radio station is Soma.FM

I'm varied too. I tend to listen to a lot of Hip Hop (Though not the stuff on the radio as most of it is repetitive, unsinspired garbage. But that's a rant for another day) and most types of Metal (though Arch Enemy is the only death metal I really like). Lately though, I've been getting into alt-metal. Like Sevendust and what have you.

I most likely have the most eclectic taste in music out of all of my friends...I'll listen to almost anything...except for rap (with the exception of old-school rap sweatdrop )
But my all time fav. would have to be punk...and not really the pop punk, more like Bad Religion, The Ramones, Rancid, Flogging Molly and such. But I have a fondness for ska as well...'specailly The Toasters and Big D and the Kids Table. ^_^
I absolutly love the Cranberries, I own every one of their albums, and know just about every song by heart. It freaks out my friends when one of their songs is on the radio and after the song ends I just continue on with the next song on the cd it is from. ^_^
More often than not if I have my portable CD player with me I'm listening to J-Pop, mostly Chieko Kawabe but BoA and a few others get thrown in the mix as well. If it isn't that then I have a mixed CD of random anime songs going.
I listen to the Dresden Dolls a lot as well...which annoys some of my friends because I tend to forget where I am at when I'm singing some of their songs (usually at Denny's sweatdrop ) so I tend to sing rather loudly, and badly at that.
Wow I could go on and on about this...lol

I'm from Texas and I love country music. Esp. the newer style. I like Reba McEntire, George Strait, Sugarland, etc. (Could make a very long list, but don't want to overdo it)
I'll tolerate about anything other than heavy metal and rap. It's just not my thing is all. We all have different tastes. 3nodding

Music is a huge part of my life and I grew up singing and playing violin and piano. While I love to listen to most music, I especially love some of the violin soloists Itzak Perlman, Vanessa-Mae (she did a wicked cool version of Bach's Tocatta and Fugue on electric violin, she also did the violin solos from Sailor Moon) Joshua Bell, Sarah Chang, Leila Jofewicz and Anne-Sophie Mutter.
