"Miss Floros?" Fish asked. "Yeah, but only what people tell her. She trades information. I mean, we only know what our gods can tell us. She knows where everyone is - don't ask me how - and she knows all about the gods, but when it comes to us, she only knows what we trade. Like, our blood type for the location of an enemy. Or, a plant for a hint."

He stared up at the vines and thought he could see them moving. "She's a real magician with plants. I think it's part of her magic."

Suddenly, something caught in his mind.

"Wait, to get into the game, didn't you have to talk to her?"

A smile crept upon Ciro’s face; already he was different from everyone else, it seemed.

“I talked to a man. He showed me the way to my god, and explained the general idea behind the game. Apparently he is a judge of the competition. I never caught his name, but it’s just as well. He’s the man who takes care of the losers, so I don’t plan on seeing him again.”

As far as this Floros woman went… She’d be useful later on, but if her only information was what people told her. Two weeks into the game, she wouldn’t have much to offer. Getting acquainted would be a good move early on, maybe get on her good side, but other than that, he had nothing she could give him and nothing he wanted to give.

Besides, it seemed as though Fish would be, more or less, a very good ally to have on his side. Fish seemed to have information, and he was willing to give it. And, more than anything, he was curious, yet polite. They could easily trade information (In doses), and wait things out until the very end.

Alright, well… Time to go over the information that he had. There were four players confirmed: Ciro, Fish, Retarded Boy: God of Coffee Pots, and this Cthulu. Two enemies, and one friend; not good odds. On the plus side, there was an informant who was good with plants…Well, if Shamash’s boasts about being the patron god of agriculture was true, then that would be just fine. Then there was the mysterious judge whom was friends with Shamash… Well, there was another plus; hopefully a bias would help Ciro’s odds (Not that he felt he needed it.)

All in all, Ciro was getting fairly certain that he had a good chance at winning this thing. The only two variables were the unknown players and the blacksuits.

“How many of us are playing this, anyway? I mean… It can’t be all that common for gods to just lay a claim on a child… And, to be frank, you’re the first other person I’ve met that seems to be ‘marked’ as obviously as I am.”

"I know... um..." Fish paused to count. "Er, MJ, Writ, Crow, Len, and you. Combined that's six. I don't know anyone else. It's just starting, after all. There's gonna be more." He frowned, trying to pair godlings with gods.

"I know Maria is Izanami's. Stay away from her if you can. She's so stupid it's contagious, I think. She's one you can't really tell is a player, but she's a Rich and she's got purple hair and she coughs a lot. I have no idea why she was even picked."

Hm, who else did he know for sure?

"Oh, Writ's god's name is Coyote. He's marked, kind of like us. Long ears and dark spots on his cheeks?" Fish studied Ciro's face for signs of recognition.

"Er, I don't know who Crow works for. She didn't say, but I'm pretty sure Cthulhu's a god, and she seemed more Goddess-y. She has wings and hooves, if you ever see her."

"And then there was Len. He was really quiet, looked Rich but I don't think he'd been home in a while when I met him. Kind of beat up. And he had these tentacle things on the side of his face," he continued, drawing a picture in his mind. "I don't know who he works for, but if anyone I know is Cthulhu's, I'd be it's him."

For a moment, Fish wondered if he should have said all that, but then he shrugged the feeling off and turned off the hydrant. After all, it would help Ciro to know who was trying to kill him, right? That was what allies were for.

When the description of Writ hit Ciro’s ear, his attention instantly snapped to Fish’s face, making sure it wasn’t some kind of sick joke. God, Allies were handy! Giving you the very information you needed. Coyote.Coyotecoyotecoyotecoyote! Memorize it, Memorize it. Writ. Okay.

The girls seemed easy enough. Maria could probably get lost in the city and starve; meanwhile, Crow would be the type to dangle in front of the Blacksuits face (Assuming he learned more about them, of course.)

The problem was this Len kid. Apparently some rich, spoiled brat with no idea how life really worked wanted him dead. That was crap. Even alone, Ciro was confident that he could take down a little rich boy… But with Fish, this almost felt like cheating!

“Hey….” He felt pretty bad, not being able to really contribute anything and yet getting all of this information for free. There had to be something he could do to make it up for him. “Thanks for all this. I really appreciate it. If you ever need help with some hydrants or something…” He was joking, and he hoped Fish caught that, “Then come get me.”

Actually… having someone who would not judge him based upon his looks was a rather nice thing. It was even nicer (As horrible as it felt to think it) to have someone who was also marked, because then they could really understand each other properly.

“The other kid I met was kind of an a**, and very nosey; Writ. I dislike him, to say the least, and we got in a bit off a spat. So I’m more than certain he’d have no qualms about doing me in.”

So now he felt like a whiney b***h, but really, the point was coming.

“So… What I’m TRYING to say is: It’s probably not smart to tell anyone that you and I are allies. I haven’t been in the game long, but I already have more enemies than friends. And if I understand the entire scope of this game, it may hinder you more than help if people know you’re linked with me.”

Fish did, in fact, catch the fire hydrant joke and he laughed. "I'll remember that," he said, flashing the older boy a thumbs up. "All of it."

"Er, don't underestimate anyone, okay? I mean, I joke about Maria being stupid and all, but there's got to be some reason she was picked. If you assume..."

He shrugged, picked up his trident, and hopped up on top of the hydrant, posing like some ancient hero of war.

"If you assume, you're one step closer to dead."
