Okay, now that we've got our Other Anime board, I intend on converting a few of y'all to my favorite shows. biggrin

Anyway, let's start with this one. In case you haven't heard about it, it's one of the many incredible mecha shows to come out of the 2006/2007 anime season. It also has a rather impressive pedigree, being directed by Goro Taneguchi (director of Scryed), written by Ichiro Okouchi (who worked with Taneguchi on Planetes), and featuring character designs by the legendary group CLAMP.

The show is rather different from your average anime - the main character isn't a quick-to-action, hot-blooded teenager. In fact, he's almost the direct opposite. He's a cool-headed strategist with a bit of a dark side who is a pretty bad pilot. His best friend is more of the traditional hero type, but he's got his own skeletons in the closet. Meanwhile, the female lead starts off looking like one of the "magic shojou" archetypes, but turns out to be bratty, mean, and pizza-obsessed.

I think the big reason I love this show is because, at least to me, it feels like they combined elements of Gundam Wing with the Count of Monte Cristo - and the end result is full of incredible awesome. If you don't mind things getting a little dark or depressing at times, then you should definitely give it a shot.

Yeah! I heard about this. I was intending on looking into it, I just haven't had any time yet.

The CLAMP animations are great... I found that X was the first series by them that I bought, watched, and read... have to say though.. X 1999 was disappointing. However, stil doesn't mean that CLAMP isn't good at what they do.

Well, all CLAMP really did for this series was the character designs...but I think they did a great job, myself. One thing worth noting is that the director has said he doesn't care much for fanservice characters, so you don't have to worry about any unrealistically-busted girls running around. Sure, one or two are well-endowed, but that happens in real life after all.

Of course, the real agony is the fact that the final two episodes of this season won't be coming out until Summer... gonk The only consolation is that it means the wait for Season 2 won't be as agonizing...

And it may seem like a cop-out, but I think my personal favorite characters in the series are Lelouch, the main character, and C.C., the female lead. They're just so much fun...Lelouch is smart, cool, and badass (like Light Yagami, if he had actual human feelings like love and remorse) while C.C. is the right mix of mystery girl, brat, and romantic lead. Piccies for those interested...

That's his "Bring it on" face.

Believe it or not, she's mourning the "death" of a giant pizza.

Alright, I'm gonna take a little risk here. I'm pretty sure this site is still within one of those gray areas within the TOS, since they don't allow licensed anime to be posted. If it's a problem, I'll delete the link. Otherwise...

You have to register to view shows, tho.

Yay, happy news! The show has been licensed by Bandai Entertainment, and will be aired on US television next year.
