Oak stared and pondered Alek's face. Follow who? The little creature or Alek? The boy shrugged with a smile. He didn't see any harm in following the little animal, but one wrong move and the animal could scurry off faster then the two of them could run.
"I guess so." Oak nodded.

Alek tiptoed into the trees, in the direction the little animal had gone. It appeared there was no animal left to see, but now that he was properly in the forest instead of on some worn path, Alek smiled and began to jog further into the trees. He skipped into a small clearing not too far ahead, then stopped abruptly as he stubbed his toe on something that felt like cement.
"Ow." He brushed his foot along the ground, revealing that the something had a square, hard corner. "Oak, look."
