I don't know if there is a topic on this already; I didn't see one, but I need help with Squealies. I can't do them. As far as I know your supposed to play the note and touch the string with your thumb but it just keeps muting the sound all together. By the way i'm trying it with the notes in the Am Pentatonic 5th position.

are you sure your barely touchin the string ? and hitting it at its sweet spots ??? I mean like where you pick it . I like to pick it around the neck pickup area or in between the pickups . Just practicing it the way your doin it , which is a kick butt way to do so .

In higher positions it doesn't ring out as clear as lower positions. Try using a B on the 3 string. Not only does it ring out nicely, but it is a good squelin note.

Ah, I just learned about pinch harmonics from my teacher. When you try them, remember to BARELY touch the string with your thumb, then immediately pull it away from the strings. Hitting notes at the 7th fret is the best place to find them, and most of the spots for them are right next to the pickups, although not directly above them.
Hope I helped.
