I'm a guy and I 'm not skinny...I'm 5'7" and I weigh nearly 10 stone. Though not to sound arrogant or anything, but I look lighter than I actually am. I'm a football player kind of guy. Running back cool
I doubt they have Grave's disease. It seems pretty serious and they act healthily most of the time.
But L DOES play tennis alot, does he not? In fact, he's supposed to be a champion, so perhaps he only eats and...Plays tennis? I dunno. It's manga. Anything can happen, and all the characters are always skinny.

I think that they just don't like drawing fat people, besides, what would L be like fat? Not as cute and it wouldn't suit his personality as much.

The human body burns carbohydrates for energy, and stores fat to burn when carbs run out and energy is needed. (if extra energy isn't needed, this stored fat remains and is what causes weight gain.) The thing is, most, if not all of the food that L and Mello eat is nothing but saturated fat, with little to no carb content. Therefore, their bodies have no carbs to burn in the first place, and are constantly burning fat. Then there's no fat to be stored, so they don't gain any weight.
It's also probably very, very bad for them; they're getting very little nutrients, and burning every last bit of energy just to stay standing, I'm sure they've just passed out from fatigue at least once in their lives.  -- {SONATA} --Yeah, I think this is probably it.
The question isn't, "How do they eat so much junk food and not get fat?", it's "How do they eat so much junk food for at least more than eighteen years without showing any trace of diabetes or severe medical diseases?"
