Akilah really hated this little brat Ryker, but the older he got, the closer she got to what she wanted, and that was what was really important in the long run. It was unfortunate she had to return to her old household to accomplish this, but she did enjoy being reminded of old times.

Old times of torturing Twila, because she'd knocked her door down, literally, and for the sixth time total, then barged into her room and stole the first pair of jeans her hands got ahold of. One item down.

It was also convient for her that both Karoko and Harper were total geeks. It was a bit of a hassle to kidnap them, even for a little while, because Karoko had always had Noharu as a guard dog, and Harper now had that stupid dragon that watched her like some sort of guard dog even though she hated the thing.

Eventually, it had been Harper she'd gotten to help her, ironicly because she wanted to get away from that same dragon. "What is it he needs to write?"

"A letter," Kilah grunted from the doorway. "To a friend, but he doesn't have any, so make one up for him or something. Just hurry the hell up, I'm getting impatient."

You just got here three minutes ago, Harper thought. She had learned a long while ago not to mutter, because Akilah heard everything no matter how quiet you said it, and her reaction to whatever was bad enough it had to be spoken so slow was always very violent. "I'm sure you have a friend, Ryker," Harper smiled down at him. "Who is it you want to write to?"

Given some random pair of pants which he had promptly tied around his little waist, Ryker looked up at the other winged girl. His own long black tail feathers floofed about a moment, considering the question. He pulled the knot in the jeans tighter, frowning. Hmm, a friend?

He glared sideways at Akilah. "Killed him," he snapped irritably, pointing at the older Sin'aeis irritably before reaching up, drawing his outstretched finger across his throat. He made a delightful squishing and ripping noise, accentuating the miming of the bear's head getting chopped off.

"Bear," he muttered, sighing heavily thereafter and letting his shoulders slump forward, his hand slip off the knot he'd tied in the pant legs. "'Sides, can't write."

But that's probably why they were here in the first place. Harper could write for him. Ryker looked sideways at Kilah again. Prolly because she was too stupid to write anything. He squirmed a little gleefully. Ha; he'd learn to write and be way awesome at it and thus way better than her at something. It was decided.

Harper froze and went pale. She shot up so quickly the desk infront of her almost toppled over. The pile of papers and trio of pencils beside one another went flying. "Killed?! What the hell, Kilah?! How could you kill some little kid?! We've gotta call the authorities!"

--Wait, what? A bear? "Your friend was... a bear?" Her eyes gazed toward her 'sister' (that was what Noyama insisted she refer to that psycho as) questioningly. Not that Kilah could see, but any idiot would know Harper looked like that, judging by her voice.

"It was a stuffed bear. He misbehaved so I ripped it's head off. No big deal."

"No big deal?!" the hawk girl squawked, a disgusted look on her face and her feathers ruffled irratablely. "You're terrible!" But it was better than her killing another person, and after return the paper and pencils to their rightful place, she sat down again and cleared her throat. "That's alright, Ryker, I'll write it for you. Just tell me what you want to say..."

Ryker nodded stubbornly, somehow managing to look down his nose at Kilah despite their substantial height difference. As if to say 'Haha, you biiiiiiiitch.' Except who knew if he even knew that word. Sniffing, he turned back to Harper and said, as snobbishly as a toddler might, "'Kay."

With little ceremony, he rocked back and plopped down to the floor, sitting down and tucking his feet in Indian-style. He ruffled his tailfeathers, straightening them out as he leaned forward toward the hawk girl.

"Dear Bear," he began after clearing his throat. "In Heaven. I'm very sorry that Kilah chopped your head and made you dead. Please act good to baby Jesus because his dad might kick you out if yer not. I hope you aren't suffocating where we buried you in the backyard. Your bestest friend, Ryker."

There were so many times, even keeping her 'plans' in mind, Kilah regretted not smashing Ryker with a rock.

There had never been one she'd remember as avidly as this one, and Harper's poor attempts to hide her laughter wasn't helping any. It was good she only needed one hand to write, because it was easier to shield the noise holding the other up to her mouth.

"Uh huh," she would occasionally say, until Ryker had finished. "Bestest isn't a word, Ryker," Harper corrected. There was nothing cute about improper language, no matter what anybody said. "Okay, all done." She folded the paper up into a small square and handed it off to the toddler.

"Welll good golly gee," Kilah sarcastically cooed. "You two are just mother ********' darlin now aren't ya. Let's go, you little a*****e, we still have more stuff to get."

No one was surprised or phased by the familiar sight of a raging teenager dragging a grumpy toddler down the hall.

Noyama had wailed when Kilah announced she was moving. A lot. For a long time. Without even asking, the Sin'aeis knew she'd left her room alone. She also knew there was still a box with a nice stack of daggers in the closet.

"You have any other stuffed toys that are your friends? We need a horse." She paused, then added, "And a rubber band."

"Byeeee Harpeeer," Ryker called back as he was dragged off by one hand, waving frantically with the other before Kilah whipped him around a corner and he lost sight of the hawk girl. Tripping and sliding, mostly being drug the whole way down the hall to Kilah's room, Ryker's facial features quickly fell into a somber expression. If somber one meant Really Really Annoyed.

"Don't got a pony," he snapped irritably. "But my cousin does. Unicorn's baby brother." That's right, Leith had a pony. It was pretty ugly too, if Ryker's opinion meant anything. It didn't even have any lies! It was so cheap and gross. Besides, Leith chewed on it all the time. Sick, man. SICK.

"Ma's got a rubber band ball though. It bounces. Real high."

Skittering into Kilah's old room, Ryker wrenched his arm out of her hand and moved to her old bed, promptly scrambling on top of it and sitting on the edge so he could swing his legs back and forth while Kilah dug through the contents of the closet.

"Where is Pukio?" Kilah hadn't seen her since she arrived, and while she wasn't up for 'Mom of the Year', she'd have thought (maybe) her had-been idol would've noticed her kid was missing. "Here we go."

Holding two daggers, one in each hand, she withdrew from the closet and faced the toddler. The weapons were plain looking, both with silver blades and brown handles, both with some blue and red carved into them.

She wasn't chasing down his damn cousin for a pony. Twila had a lot of stuffed animals, she'd just steal one from her. "Stay," demanded the older of the two Sin'aeis, as if Ryker was a puppy in training, and then left the room.

There were a few shouts, one louder than the rest ("FINE! OKAY! Just don't stab me with that thing! Here! ...Hey! OUCH!"), and then Kilah returned and threw the stuffed horse toward the sound of Ryker's breathing. Around it's neck was a rubberband that still had strands of blonde hair tangled into it.

"Lucky us, she happened to have a band just like that in her hair."

Ryker nodded, continued to swing his legs back and forth as his fingers toyed cheerfully enough over the knot he'd tied in the pant legs. "Mmkay," he chirped absently, still scowling drastically as he bowed his head over the knotted pants legs, tugging at them in an attempt to get them off. Tying them to his body probably hadn't been the Best Idea Ever.

Nonetheless, he waited around until Kilah got back - which, given the kid's attention span was kind of miraculous - at which point he pitched into a bit of a ramble of 'Can't get these pants off me; yay pony; ew girl hairs' as Kilah gave him the last items he apparently NEEDED right this second, dammit, now!

Still chattering on - he'd gotten rather talkative since his days as a calm mouthed infant, he took the knives from Kilah and stuffed the pony (and the hairy rubber band) in his lap. He held one knife in each hand.

And continued kicking his legs back and forth. "All done," he announced suddenly. "Can I take the pants off now?"
