It soon became clear being evasive was not going to do him any good for his new friend was persistent. So he stuck his tongue out at her as she batted in his general direction, and then took a moment to think.

"If you insist," he said with an emphasized sigh, then continued after a pause, "Umm! Friendly is good, probably most important. Not pushy, but not a pushover either.. I don't know, it's hard to be specific like that- it sounds so picky, and the quirks I'd never think of are what make different lions special."

She giggled as she listened to him. "Fair enough, I will just need to find some nice girls for you!" She smiled widely and looked around.

"Hmmm."

She looked around again and then walked over to Habu and nudged him,

"This way, follow me!" She wasn't sure where it was she was taking him, but there had to be at least one female around somewhere that she could try to pair him up with. At least that is what she hoped.

Ever skeptical and reluctant, Habu just smiled sheepishly as she continued upon the idea of finding a girl for him. He shook his mane to get any possible water from it for good, only to be nudged along to follow after her.

"Ok, ok," he mumbled, agreeing to follow wherever she might try to lead him.

She chuckled and looked back at him, still highly amused over his mane. She couldn't help but wonder why males had manes anyway, they seemed so pointless. She turned to look at him again and giggled.

"Why do males have manes?" She tilted her head as she led him through the long grasses of the pridelands. Oh how she loved her home.

"If they are so annoying, why have them?" It made no sense! Females were obviously sensible and got rid of manes long ago.

Habu shook his head at her when she laughed at his mane again, still following after her as she lead him through the grassy lands. He'd never bothered to ask about why males have manes, and had to shrug.

"I've never thought about it," he answered, taking a moment to do just that, "Maybe it helps blend in with the grass-" unlikely, considering his father's mane was black, and if it was to camoflague then it wouldn't make sense to be such a non-grass color, "Ooooor- make your head look big. Or so you can wonder why you have it."

She listened to his ideas over why they had manes and giggled a little. "You have manes and don't know why. Males are silly!" She giggled once more. She didn't want to insult anyone she was just rather naive to most things in life which is why she would happily believe that she could set any pair of lions up that she wanted, it was simple!

She vcontinued to lead him through the grasses getting slightly annoyed at the lack of anyone about. Why were lions so lazy and never around when you wanted them? She sighed and looked around before turning back to the lion behind her.

"Why do you have funny coloured eyes?" She was queen at asking odd questions.

Habu considered her comment, and shot back, "Well, you don't have a mane- do you know why that is?" It was meant just as curiously and jokingly as she could ever have asked. The male new that if she could say why she did not have a mane, they would figure out why he did. He was not so concerned with the fact that no one seemed to be around, either- it was almost a relief.

"Red and blue are not funny colo-"

Habu started to argue with her statement about his eyes before he realized that while the colors themselves were not odd, it was odd that he had one red eye and one blue eye. He laughed at his own initial defense for such a question, and realized this was an easier question to answer.

"I don't know, except that my mama had one blue and one yellow eye," he explained with a sage nod, "I got it from her, though my eyes are different colors.."

"We don't have manes because we aren't silly!" She stuck her tongue out a little payfully after she finished her sentence. She then giggled a little before listening to the rest of what he said.

"Cool! My sister has a brownish red eye and a blue eye! Not sure why, mother had two blue eyes and father has two brownish red eyes so I don't know why she has two different coloured eyes. You should meet her sometime!" She giggled again and turned to look at him.

"Whats your mother like?" She was curious, after all she had never had a mother figure well she had for a day or two.

Habu stuck out his own tongue in reply to her, not willing to admit himself or his gender to being silly just because they grow a little extra hair. He'd never met anyone else with two different colored eyes like him, except for his mother, and he was a little surprised to hear about it. He didn't expect he was the only one, but figured it was uncommon if he didn't meet a whole bunch.

"Maybe it sometimes happens randomly, or someone else in your family had two different eyes?" he suggested, what he knew of genetics came from his knowledge of his own family. His sister wasn't the same blue as their father, and his new uncles and aunt (most of them, anyway) didn't seem to get all of their traits from just his grandmother and Ashado. Aunt Kiwi especially.

"My mother?" he repeated, startled out of his thoughts about his little aunt and her strange color of blue and the red and yellow, "Well, she was wonderful. Good at listening, telling stories, making you feel better.." Habu had been very attached to his mother, and would never have thought any wrong of her (except the fact that she left).

She was interested in what he had to say and found it all rather interesting but then she always loved to hear stories or ideas. Anything that could be slightly interesting she would take an interest in.

"Cool, I wish my mother had been able to tell stories and things. Father was so distant from us and I do love a good story. Stories are always so interesting!" She smiled widely, she didn't know what it was like to have a mother but had wondered on more then one occasion.

"Did you talk to her a lot and play and things?" She was really curious, after all she was trying to work out what her own mother may have been like though it would be better for her if she just went and asked one of her older siblings, she knew she had a few somewhere.

Wahabu loved his family very much, and had no trouble talking about them- except the more he talked about his mother, the more he missed having her around and wished he could find her. However, he knew if a goddess didn't want to be found then she probably wouldn't be found.

"I wasn't so close to my father when I was little, but I've gotten a lot closer to him now, or I think so," he shrugged vaguely, "I always talked with mama, and played with her, went places with her.. It was a lot of fun, but I guess not for her- she left." Habu didn't really mean to make the subject less interesting or cheerful, but it just slipped out.

Mchengo listened and smiled softly.

"I doubt she left because of you, there could be so many reasons why she left!" She tried to make it sound cheery but that wasn't really going to happen.

"My mother died, there was this big fight, my brother got blinded. I can't really remember it though, I was really young at the time. I always wondered what it would be like to have a mother, I didn't think they left their children but then maybe thats what I made up." She didn't look sad as she spoke in fact she didn't really mind that she didn't have a mother, she never had one so she couldn't miss having one.

Habu noticed how Mchengo always seemed tso cheerful and bright, and so confident about what she said. He had to slow down a bit when she even continued and described what had happened with her mother, catching him off guard with such details- he definetely hadn't expected her mother to have died. He was amazed she didn't even seem sad, but he realized if he hadn't known his mother he wouldn't know what he was missing.

"That- that's not good," he stammered speechlessly, not sure what exactly there was he could say about that, "I didn't think mothers left, either- but someone told me that they usually do. I guess it's part of growing up, but I don't know if that applies so well to when you're in a pride."
