I discussed this with the staff before to know the exact details. It's an idea that's been sitting on my head for quite a while and I have hopes it will generate some interesting rps

Cody will accidentaly stumble upon a large pipe 100m offshore, coming from towards the volcano. It has a metal grid to prevent things from getting in, but the long exposition will cause the dolphin-boy to get sick
Note that the residues are incenerated and bathed with UV rays before disposed, so the substance loses it's dna changing prperties. Cody's sickness is just a alergic reaction to the high concentration of chemicals (he doesn't ingest it)

I don't know what the islanders can do with this piece of information, but blocking it would certainly cause quite a bit of headache to the labs
