Charas: Just the one for now.

Name: Louis

Age: 17

Sex: Male

Dext: Right

Person: Reluctant Hero, knows next to nothing of combat (yet), loner, has very few friends, intelligent, doubtful of self

Bio: Lousis was just a normal unemployed boy who had only gotten out of school and was ready for university. His life was average. Everything was. Anyway, his family decided to take a holiday in celebration of his acomplishment, so they left for the capital city. Unfortuneatly, a shadow came out of nowhere along the way, and exploded into a cloud of darkness. The darkness swallowed everything around it, and Louis passed out. When he woke up, there was a dying old man next to him. There was carnage on the streets - his parents were nowhere to be seen. The man beckoned Louis over to him. Louis listened as the old man told him what had happened - some unknown being of darkenss had come on a random attack. He mentioned that somewhere in the world, there was a sword of unfathomable power. Using it, Louis or anyone else could defeat this certain being. Louis tried to explain that he could not possibly do it. But the old man cut him off. Said that he must do this, and take his place. As Louis pondered why he was chosen and not someone else, the old man then gave Louis his weapon, in the image of the mentioned sword. However, it appeared to just be a regular shortsword to an untrained eye. And, as it was now, it was. The old man told him to keep it so he knew the powerful sword when he saw it. Then he said "Go, and find the Millenia!". (Mods, if this happened, it would be over, so I probably won't ever get near it)

Appear: Unrefined, but a bit athletic. Usually wears brand-name clothes.

Talent: Intellect (able to think up incredible strategies and helps with magic), and speed

Possess: The M sword from the old man

Other: Goal is to avenge parents death and stop the dark being. (Comes to conclusion later)

Example: Louis watched as the old man breathed his last. Taking the sword by his side, and the old timer's wallet, he left the clearing he was in and stepped onto the highway. The wreckage from the explosion was phenomenal. The only vehicle missing was his. Louis saw police lines at either end to the scene, and not wanting to draw attention to himself, he snuck away.

After a few hours of uneventful travelling, Louis was back in his town. 'Maybe if I just go home, everything will be fine.' he thought, knowing thats probably not be the case. He went anyway.

I'll ask a question here - could a weapon I have be starter strength to start with, but then gain power throughout the roleplay, mods approving its gain?

It's possible, but would depend on how it functions. One way to do that would be some gear with stats based on percentages rather than fixed values. There could be other methods, of course.
Still, this would save a lot of munny on weapons for those who intend to maintain strong gear so it would naturally be expensive. Needless to say, it would be a coveted weapon. Fairly valuable if designed the right way.

Let's ask for a little more discussion on this weapon; I can imagine a weak version being used to start with, provided your character's background justifies possessing it. It sounds possible, but with some stretch. I'd like to hear a few more opinions on the subject, maybe some suggestions on design, before a final say.

ALSO, don't forget the rule on deciding stats has changed. When you're ready, we'll roll stats for your charater.

Okay, I'll just make it a goal to obtain it. Which will never be accomplished.

I liked the idea; just thought I'd mention it. I'll start with a copy that is actually a normal sword, and buy weapons normally.

Nobody said you couldn't obtain it! I personally think it would be a neat weapon to have. Of course, we can always bring it up for more discussion in the main forum and spitfire ideas.

Yeah, it is cool to have a weapon that gains special abilities beyond a characters base strength. I guess it could be an ultimate weapon.
Jedimoose rolled 15 6-sided dice: 4, 3, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 1, 3, 2, 5, 3, 5, 2, 5 Total: 43 (15-90)

First thing's first: Louis can easily be approved on just a few conditions.
1) Give a background for being able to use Scan. Actually seeing someone's lifeforce is a powerful ability. It can come in handy for several critical situations. I'm not sure how Louis could have this power. If he had experience in combat it could easily be passed off as part of that sixth sense warriors seem to have. Perhaps he's spiritually inclined? Could that old man have bestowed him with the ability?
On top of that, Dodge Roll is really just a fancy somersault and won't be included in the ability list. Since it was included in KH1 for game mechanics, you can easily use such a maneuver any time you wish. In other words, you don't have to spend that 1 AP on the ability.
2) We aren't sure how much munny characters will be allowed to start with. At the moment, Unforgiven's character has as much munny as yours because he made special contributions to the guild. Most likely, Louis will have to start off with 300 munny. This may change after we discuss the subject more.
Aside from that, all we ask is that you eventually supply more of a physical description in case someone can't see the image you want to add or if your avi changes. It's not a life-or-death issue, just thorough.

Your example was well crafted. Readable grammar, proper spelling, and a good grasp on point-of-view is just what we want to see. I don't know your usual level of literacy, but I see you didn't force it to sound fancy which could have compromised its real quality. (a lot of people hurt themselves this way)
Also, the final touches on the main game are almost done (honestly!) and you may want to tweak him a little before the game starts. If you don't, that's not a problem, but please alert us to any dramatic changes you make before making your first post about Louis. Once you make that post, there's no going back.

Second: Your stats are now rolled. That gives you...
13 HP
10 MP

and 20 for your stats in general.
Louis's good stats could make up for lack of HP and MP, or you can contribute some of those extra points to HP and MP. Have fun with it!
