(This is just a little bit of it.)
Chantal walked through the maze of marble hallways of Desruc Boarding Academy. A month had passed since she began her sophomore year and she still hadn’t taken the time to begin meeting with the various children from families that were associated with her own. In fact, everyone in Desruc was associated to her family because the Coelis family founded the school. Enemies, friends, and business associates all came to Desruc and now that Chantal was attending, she seemed to be the social target of the year. Everyone wanted to be her friend, everyone wanted to date her. All she wanted was to be left alone and deal with the fact that her parents had dumped her in this Hell hole and now she had to go meet with the sons of the Descar and Eripmav family. Please let me fall and break something. Chantal thought bitterly as she made her way into the Boy’s Dorm. One of the male teachers smiled at her and tipped his head. “They are in their room Miss Coelis.” he informed her. With a groan, she stepped into the elevator that took her to the seventh floor of the building. Only twelve families lived on the seventh floor in either dorm and unfortunately, that consisted of the people she had to meet. Fortunately though, it was only two families today. Knocking on room 303, Chantal waited for a minuet before cheerfully saying, “The teacher was wrong, they’re not here.” As she turned and began to walk away, she heard the door click open and a male voice chuckle. Cursing under her breath, she turned to face her fate. “Oh Chantal, sorry to keep you.” Nathan, the eldest of the Descar sons grinned. “You look beautiful.” He said in a calmer, softer voice. Icy blue eyes peered at her from skin a white as marble, soft lips curved into a sad but amused smile. She pushed past him and walked into the room. “You’re delusional.” She told him before turning to look at those in the room. With a gasp, she spun to face the wall out of shock and embarrassment. “Oh dear.” She squeaked as her face turned a bright crimson. The whole room burst into masculine laughter as Chantal tried to calm herself down. All the men…boys….in the room were lounging around in nothing but their pajama bottoms. “Is there something wrong Chantal?” Jason snickered at her. “No.” she responded angrily as she spun to face them, forgetting her embarrassment. “I came here because I had to not because I wanted to so please, put on some shirts or something.” She added in an exasperated voice, crossing her arms over her chest. “Nathan, honestly get your brothers or cousins or whatever to get dressed. I really don’t need this right now.” She stood there with an air of authority and annoyance. Her eyes, a startling emerald green, blazed in her delicately boned pale face which was framed by the gentle cascades of obsidian black hair that blended into the black clothing that hugged her seductive frame. Nathan ushered his brothers and cousin into the next room. “What ever you want my angle.” She smiled before following them into their rooms. “I’m not an angle and I’m not yours!” Chantal growled. Taking a seat in the closest seat to the door, she took out a small black planner and a silver pen, both with her family emblem. Nathan, Marcus, and Jason Descar along with their cousin Andrew Eripmav grinned at her with a hungry, dangerous look as they came out of the room in tight tee-shirts and jeans. “Look, can we just talk about whatever our parents wanted us to so that I can leave?” she sighed, clicking her pen in annoyance. “Well, first off was that our families will be having dinner together at the Fleur Noir in two weeks.” Andrew began. Chantal only groaned in response, glaring into Andrew’s gently hazel eyes. She had begun to notice that all the Descar and Eripmav men had similar features. Strong but gentle bone structures, hair that was all fairly long, and a hungry, dangerous look in their eyes. If you took the time to know them like she had Nathan, they were all quite nice under their arrogant exterior. Along with all that, they had startlingly pale, no white skin. Like perfect marble. Ounce in a while though, there would be a soft, peach flush to them so that as if they were statues that had blood within them. Jason’s voice suddenly broke her thought. “Our mother wants to hire your cousin Amelia for designing the guest house. They like what she did for the summer house.” he told her. Unlike his brothers or cousin, his hair was fair and eyes a deep brown it was almost black. “All right. I’ll have Jemma contact her and she will call by the end of the month. She is currently working on a project for one of her other clients.” Chantal explained as she wrote something down in a small notebook. “Oh,” she added as she looked up at them, tucking a lock of her silky hair behind her ear. “Cecile wanted to confirm about the banquet. We will be attending….unfortunately.” she told them while sitting up straighter. “Is there something funny?” she asked, noticing the smug grins they all tried to hide. Nathan looked at the others then back at Chantal before calming himself. “For a girl who hates dealing with family business you handle things quite well.” Nathan’s icy blue gaze locked with her own and she had an almost overwhelming urge to kiss him. As If he knew what she was thinking, Nathan rose in a graceful movement and began to…glide towards her. “Is there something wrong Chantal?” he asked in his rich voice although it now seemed more gentle, more seductive. Suddenly, the shrill cry of her cell phone broke their trance-like moment and Chantal scrambled for her phone. “Hello?” she answered in a breathless voice. “Hey Chantal, it’s Richard. Jenna was looking for you. Something about her pictures?” Richard said in a board voice. “Are you ok?” he added, noticing Chantal’s breathlessness. “Yeah, I’m fine.” Chantal muttered as she rose and made her way to the door. “Tell her that I’m coming now.” She rushed before snapping the phone closed. “I…I…need to go.” Chantal stammered, still trying to figure out what had just happened. The others in the room looked at her and Nathan with a look as if something wonderful had just happen. Avoiding eye contact with any of them, she made her way to the door and slipped out. “I’ll see you again Chantal.” Nathan’s voice called to her as the door clicked shut.
“Where have you been?” Jenna asked as Chantal trotted into the Central Courtyard with a dazed expression. “We were supposed to start an hour ago.” Jenna huffed, quickly dragging Chantal towards a bench and table where make-up and hair products were spread across its surface. She fussed with her friend’s hair and make-up as Richard stifled a laugh. “Shut up.” Chantal growled, opening an eye to glare at her friend before Jenna scolded her and made her close her eyes again. She wrestled her friend’s trench coat off so that Chantal stood there in her black and gold corset, black mini skirt, and combat boots over the fishnets she wore. “Jenna!” Chantal protested as she wrapped her pale arms around herself protectively. “You knew you had to pose this way. You have that whole ‘I-may-look-dark-but-I’m-innocent’ thing going when you’re not hiding in that oversized thing.” Jenna smiled as she took a quick snapshot of her friend. “You look….cute…” choked Richard as he continued to stifle his laugh. “Laugh it up Richard, see what happens.” Chantal warned as she leaded against a tree so that her face was turned towards them. She let one arm hang by her side while the other was behind her, hair falling around her in soft, black waves. With a soft click, Jenna took the picture. Over the next hour, Jenna had Chantal try different poses under trees, among the roses, in the trees, and on the benches. By the time they had finished, Jenna was more then happy with her pictures and Chantal was just glad it was over. Taking her coat from Richard, she shrugged it on and began to talk idly with Jenna. From the corner of her eye, she noticed a gentle look in his eyes similar to Nathan’s. The thought of Nathan made her shudder involuntarily but she noticed that Richard looked hurt somehow. “Hey, where were you today?” Jenna asked, turning her friend’s attention back to her. “Huh? Oh, I had to meet with Nathan and them over some family business.” Chantal told her reluctantly. She knew that Jenna and her brother hated Nathan, his brothers, and his cousin. After all, the Sepul, Descar, and Eripmav families had been enemies for years. Oddly enough though, those same families were friends of Chantal’s own family. “You what?!” Richard growled as she spun her around. “Those….leeches?” he spat. “How can you even be around them? I mean….” Chantal jerked away and hissed, “One, never grab me like that, you should know that by now. Two, I didn’t want to, I had to because they are close friends of our family.” She turned and stormed off like an angry shadow down the twilight filled halls leading to the boarding wing. “Smooth move dumb a**.” Jenna scowled before hurrying off after their friend. Richard growled and when his sister and friend were out of sight, he let out a piercing howl.
“Chantal! Chantal wait!” Jenna yelled, grabbing her friend’s shoulder to get her to stop. “What?!” Chantal responded through clenched teeth. “If you’re going to get on my case about…” Jenna cut her off with a wave of her hand and shook her head. “No, no. Look, I’m sorry about Richard. You know he has little control over his temper when it is about the Nathan or them. It’s hard to explain, but he does have a good reason to be upset that you were with them. Any one in either family is no good and dangerous for you, a Coelis to be around.” Chantal gave her friend a confused look and opened her mouth to ask but only got a sad smile form Jenna. “Look, the school is going to have a dance for your birthday next week, I’ll tell you then ok?” Jenna offered as she hugged Chantal. “I promise. After that….it’s up to you.” She added sadly before linking arms with Chantal as they walked silently towards the Girl’s Dorm, oblivious to the echoing howl that rang through the halls. The silence alone was odd on Jenna’s part. Richard’s out burst, Jenna’s suddenly solemn attitude, the moment she had had with Nathan Descar, and so much more flew through Chantal’s mind. ‘How much do I not know about these people?’ she asked herself gravely.

A minuet is a small orchestrated musical peice, lol. Sorry, it was like a follow up, i couldnt resist. Anyways, i loved this particular peice. The setting, the people, scenarios, and the their personalities and feelings were all so realistic. Theres nothing omnipotent about anythign here, and it addresses the oh-so-common adolescent angst. Simply put, it was well made and well read. I definately look forward to seeing more of this in the near future if you can muster it.
