Music is sound in time. Music is often described as an art form that involves organised sounds and silence. It is considered by some cultures to be a language or an accompaniment to a dance and a means to communicate with spirits. Within the arts, music can be classified as a performing art, a fine art, and an auditory art form though the definitions of music vary according to culture and social context.

The traditional or classical European aspects of music often listed are those elements given primacy in European-influenced classical music: melody, harmony, rhythm, tone colour or timbre, and form. A more comprehensive list is given by stating the aspects of sound: pitch, timbre, loudness, and duration. These aspects combine to create secondary aspects including structure, texture and style. Other commonly included aspects include the spatial location or the movement in space of sounds, gesture, and dance.

According to Merriam (1964, p.32-33) there are three aspects always present in musical activity: concept, behaviour, and sound. Virgil Thomson (Erickson 1957, p. vii) lists the "raw materials" of music in order of their discovery: rhythm, melody, and harmony; with the construction of these materials using two major techniques: counterpoint (the simultaneity and organization of different melodies) and orchestration. Rhythm does not require melody or harmony, but it does require melody if the instrument produces a continuous sound, harmony arises from reverberation causing the overlap of different pitches, and counterpoint arises from multiple melodies.

Music is experienced by individuals in a range of social settings ranging from being alone to attending a large concert. Musical performances take different forms in different cultures and socioeconomic milieus. In Europe and North America, there is often a divide between what types of music are viewed as a "high culture" and "low culture." "High culture" types of music typically include Western art music such as Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and modern-era symphonies, concertos, and solo works, and are typically heard in formal concerts in concert halls and churches, with the audience sitting quietly in seats.

On the other hand, other types of music such as jazz, blues, soul, and country are often performed in bars, nightclubs, and theatres, where the audience may be able to drink, dance, and express themselves by cheering. Until the later 20th century, the division between "high" and "low" musical forms was widely accepted as a valid distinction that separated out better quality, more advanced "art music" from the popular styles of music heard in bars and dance halls.

However, in the 1980s and 1990s, musicologists studying this perceived divide between "high" and "low" musical genres argued that this distinction is not based on the musical value or quality of the different types of music. Rather, they argued that this distinction was based largely on the socioeconomic standing or social class of the performers or audience of the different types of music.

For example, whereas the audience for Classical symphony concerts typically have above-average incomes, the audience for a hip-hop concert in an inner-city area may have below-average incomes. Even though the performers, audience, or venue where non-"art" music is performed may have a lower socioeconomic status, the music that is performed, such as blues, hip-hop, punk, funk, or ska may be very complex and sophisticated.

Deaf people can experience music by feeling the vibrations in their body, a process which can be enhanced if the individual holds a resonant, hollow object. A well-known deaf musician is the composer Ludwig van Beethoven, who composed many famous works even after he had completely lost his hearing. Recent examples of deaf musicians include Evelyn Glennie, a highly acclaimed percussionist who has been deaf since the age of twelve, and Chris Buck, a virtuoso violinist who has lost his hearing.

User ImageName: Aria
Meaning: AWR-ee-a
Means "song" or "melody" in Italian. An aria is an elaborate vocal solo, the type usually performed in operas.
Sex: Female
Spirit: Music

Appearance: The idea of beauty is something heavily arguable. The ideal changes from person to person, but the likelihood that all can agree on Aria’s allure is fairly high. Her eyes are purple with red tints speckled throughout it’s whole. They seem to perpetually vocalize an eerily serene emotion. Each eye is surrounded by purple that runs from her tear ducts to the roots of her hair, and underneath each eye is a golden color. The rest of her skin is a pale rose. Her lips, full, are constantly smiling ever so slightly. Shoulder blade length black loose curl locks frame her face delicately, though more often than not, she wears it up in a loose and messy bun, revealing the platinum blond parts that typically stay hidden.
Distinguishing Features: Part of the left side of her face, her entire left arm, part of the left side of her chest, her back, and a small portion of her stomach are covered almost entirely by a large henna tattoo-like birthmark.
Dress:
Dress (But Wine Red and barefoot)
Henna Ex. 1
Henna Ex. 2 (Nudity)
Henna Ex. 3 (Nudity)

Personality:
Aria is quiet bubbly. She’s always smiling, capable of seeing the beauty in any given situation. After all, she is music. If someone’s in need of a hug, she’s likely to be the first in line, fully ready with arms wide open to give it. This isn’t to say that she doesn’t have a dark side. She’s slightly self-righteous and can be incredibly vindictive when circumstances call. Being wanted and liked usually makes it to the top of her priority list, which, unfortunately, comes off as being a bit needy sometimes.

Likes: Listening to birds, chimes, people speaking, water moving, etc. etc.
Dislikes: Senseless Noise
Abilities:

User ImageName: Cerene Dubois
Age: 24
Gender: Female
Race: Tendre D’Elements

Height: 5'7”

Hair Color: Sable Black
Eyes: Forest Green
Skin Color: Milk chocolate

Personality: Cerene’s a woman to be reckoned with. She’s fierce and stubborn, and the chances of her waiting a minute before making contact between her fist and someone’s face when ticked off enough is very little. Her stubbornness and blunt attitude causes her to step on many toes, but does she care? Not really.

Abilities: Cerene was trained in the art of Earthen Control. She’s not just capable of controlling it (I.e. creating a large bolder from the ground), but she can also fuse herself with anything of that type of alignment (and yes, this does include metal).

Loves:
Food, Flowers, Dirt, Sand
Hates: Boats

Family: None
Friends: Nadia Bonner

History:
