So I'm currently interning at a nearby theatre, where they've put me to use as the ASM. As of today's rehearsal, my official job during the performances (we're gonna have 12 of them, I believe...) is to run the Sound Board. I've never actually done anything behind stage for a show besides ASM for this one, so obviously I'm completely new to Sound Board. So I want stories, hints, etc - get me freaked out/excited/nervous/whatever! XD

It's actually a hell of a lot easier than it looks. You'll get it with in, at the most, 2 weeks.

! The sound board! I've never run the sound board, I've only done lights. If you suddenly get feedback, just lower the master. I think that's what the sound guy said... Can't remember... Well, it can't hurt.

It took me forever to learn sound, but then all of the sudden, everything clicked. Now I love it. Espically shows where all you have to do it uncut stuff or play cds. Like dance recitals.
It's not too bad. It is really easy once you get the hang of it. But you really have to pay attention to what's going on. That's very important. because you can get feedback at any time.

I've known soundboard since I was 12 or so. It's pretty easy. It looks intimidating, but trust me, half an hour of tutorial and you'll be hobbling along just fine.

DispatchNA WickedElphie I learned soundboard... in three days. ^_^ That's *very* good to hear. Hopefully it won't be death. That would be...unhappy. XD Yeah, I got the crash course! Hehe! They had to recast Jack in our production of "Jack in the Beanstalk" and it went to the guy that was running the music on the soundboard. THEN the girl playing the cow had to miss the first show to attend a funneral and the girl that ran the mics and the rest of the board was filling in. So three days before the show, I had to learn the sound board, the mics, AND the music. It wasn't to bad. It looks big bad and scary, but it's really not. I doubt that you'll even have to use most of it.

Oy, I just got my sound board assignment today! I am also new to the sound board and I thought it would be fun to do on my off nights, so I signed up. Well, we open on Thurday, so we started dress rehersals today. Me and this other girl learned sound, which probably wouldn't be hard...if we didn't have to wing it. We had 2 minutes training and then we had to do the dress rehersal. It was especially hard because the show is Sound of Music with no mics and a whole lot of children...urgh...the children are nuns...so many nuns...*twitch*
