Its easy to sin. We know how, and it can be down right seductive at times. Its only afterwards do we realize just how bad it is.
As for being bitter specifically, what do you mean exactly by bitter. Do you mean not forgiving someone about something, and continually think poorly of them?

well, like if someone you love dies & you just kinda hate everything & kinda go into depression mode.
bitter can mean lots of things, i dont think it really matters though
yeah, i know its easy to sin, cause its what you want i guess.. its the easy way, but i still dont get why its so easy to do that. cause you want to be like God even more.
i guess we're just human.

The best thing to do is just is look forward in that case. It is good to recognize the past and how it has affected you, but then see where you are now and what you want for the future. With a goal in sight you can change your self and your situation to meet that goal. Also, as a side affect your attitude changes to go with it. Its a slow process, but worth it in the end.

bitterness is an easy spirit to "catch" there are so many sad things around us in everyday life that one thing will push us down and five things will hold us there.
Satan wants us to be bitter and not to rejoice. God inhabits the praises of His people. If we run around singing praises all day , satan have to try harder to attack us so he tries to keep us focused on half empty glasses, when there are so many that are overflowing.
All my life I have been told to "count my blessings" to make a note of each and every small and humoungous gift we are given
(I can not find a reference, I will have to ask around tomorrow; I love giving advice because it forces me to seek resources ^_^)

I guess because we are sinners and this world can get depressing, we get bitter easily. As for refusing to forgive, bitterness and revenge is always easier.
