Sen had been following some lion. One she didn't know. He was none too happy to have a tag-along, and if Sen was to base her opinion on the observations of a single individual, she would say adults got annoyed with her 'game' far more quickly than cubs.

Luckily for him (or perhaps for her), something had caught her attention and without realizing it, she'd stopped following the stranger and veered off to the side to observe the corpse. Bird. A blue one. Most dead things she'd stumbled across this far in life (which wasn't far) had been killed.

This bird, though... It looked as though it had just died in the sky and fell down, down, down.

Tilting her head, she drew nearer and nudged the creature with her nose. Maybe it wasn't dead...? Nudge. Nudge. No, it definately was dead. Carefully, she rolled it onto it's back, a bit startled by the lifeless eyes but certainly not discouraged by them.

Using her tiny teeth carefully, she bit onto the tip of the last feather on the wing and pulled until the entire thing was on display. "This is it?" she mumbled.

It was another hot, boring day. Siri had gotten irritated just lying in the shade of the den, so she'd gone for a walk. No destination in mind, and certianly no forethough whatsoever.

Now she was irritated, but this time she was irritated in the Sun, and she was lost on top of it. The cub stumbled dramatically along the well-worn path, her legs crossing in front of eachother and her tail dragging wearily in the dirt behind her.

Finally, unable to continue on any further, the cub plopped down on her side and lay like a dead thing. A breeze blew across her body, ruffling her fur. It felt so nice... and smelled really strange!

Speaking of dead things...

Siri raised her head and flicked an ear. The awful/interesting smell was coming from over -there-. She dragged herself to her feet and trotted wearily towards a second small white cub nearby. She peeked over the female's shoulder and let out a startled gasp.

"A flying thing! What's wrong with it?" Siri sniffed. "It's dead! But... how?"

How? Well... She hadn't thought about that. Things just died, didn't they? Just like they were just born? Like how she was just born? "It's dead," repeated the cub. Her words were mimicing the other lioness, but could have been taken as confirmation.

And, well, it was dead.

Sen turned, rather awkwardly, the end result being her ending up behind the stranger. There she stood, tail swaying, peering at the other expectingly.

"Ya, I know that." Siri squinted suspiciously at the bird and nudged it with one paw, not satisfied. Something had made it not-alive, and she wanted to know what. Or who.

Her vivid blue gaze scanned the grassy plains, but nothing immediatly came under scrutiny. The cub sighed and gave up the effort as lost - maybe Shin was right this time. Maybe the bird just up and died!

Or... maybe there was a dangerous fiend lurking nearby! She grinned and turned to impart this critical knowledge to the cub.

"You should be careful, what if the thing that made the bird dead could make us dead too?"

"Us dead?" Make her dead? But... But no! She was still little! She still hadn't learned to fly yet! Some cubs posessed arrogance like no other. In this situation, Sen fell into the category. No way something was making her dead this early.

She'd just have to make it dead first. The cub peered around, then started walking. Walking the way the birds legs were facing. Something probably pounced on it to kill it, she thought, so it would probably have gone back that way.

Siri nodded solemly. "Ya, us."

She sat on back her haunches and watched silently as Sen considered this. If there was something fiendish nearby, something that could do this to the bird AND them, then there was work to be done! Siri decided that there were still monsters at large, and that she and Cam hadn't finished their job. Well, that would be fixed the next time they met and -

"Oh, wait! Where're you going?" Siri scrambled to her feet and trotted after the smaller girl.

"Make dead," Sen explained simply, in accordance to her plans for this 'monster'. It couldn't be so big and bad if it just slaughtered a bird. Big ones would kill things like zebra, or maybe even lions.

Therefore, it must be a baby one. Best to destroy it while it was young like them. The problem was... where WAS it?

"... oh." Siri caught up to Sen and nodded. "I guess that's okay... but are you sure you're not to scared? Me n' ... uh, a friend, we do this kinda thing a lot." It was true, she and Camulos had spent a lot of time trapping monsters. But they were older!

"But if you really want to, I can help!" Siri proclaimed proudly. Casting a quick glance at her companion, she smiled slightly. "I know a lot of monster hiding places! And now, in the day, is the -best- time to look for them!"

The cub tilted her head to the side and glanced at the landscape around them. Almost as an afterthought, she added, "oh, and the safest."

Sen hesitated. She moved forward, then back again, then repeated herself a good three times. Her head turned toward Siri and she said, "Alright." Help? She certainly didn't need it, but company was never a bad thing.

"Where?"

"Well... monsters that -I- found always were hiding in dark, scary, gross places!" The purple child grinned happily. "Like, oh, under rocks or in caves or deep ditches! But if this one is big enough to kill a bird, it must live in a big place too!"

She gazed around the open landscape, her mouth pursed and eyes narrowed. Ah, there! Just a little ways away from them was a small rocky outcropping. A stunted acacia tree hung over the red stones and cast a shadow that deepened when it reached a small cave enterance.

Siri set off toward it at a trot. "The monster hasta be in there!"
