I play the Jigsaw thing. One "Insane" session will get you at least 400. If you do the blue one with the Kiki and the star, you get about 600.
Or, if you're lazy, the "Hard" gives you 100 to 200 if you do the blue one with the Kiki and the star. Needless to say, the more space there is in a picture, the more gold you'll get.

It's kind of slow, but I can usually sell the starter gear for 150 or so. (not bad considering they are worth what 1 maybe 2 gold)
