that the animal food company iams tests on animals? my family occasionally buys that for my cats and dogs. or bought i should say, because i now refuse to feed it to them. i'd rather carry back a huge bag of dog food from target (which is less than a mile away) than support that. i found out recently, and i am so mad.... anyway, i just wanted to make any of you animal lovers and abuse haters aware of this, if you weren't already.
here is a site this info comes from.

ok, when they test on these animals they leave them in cages... deprived of any attention other than getting some possibly unhealthy food. the animal is left in these cages until dead. normally, they have a large group of animals (by volunteer of a human companion) to see how each one reacts or how fast they eat it. but allowing the animal to live its life so lonely, deprived and leaving them in dirty cages is not ok. i don't think that we really have the right to do that to any living thing. =/
http://www.uncaged.co.uk/iams.htm The IAMS Company have funded and participated in laboratory experiments on hundreds of animals that caused kidney failure, obesity, malnutrition, liver damage, severe allergic reactions, stomach inflammation, diarrhoea, severe skin disorders, lesions, skin wounds and other painful illnesses, and animals have been kept in barren dungeon-like conditions. Dogs have been force-fed vegetable oil, had chunks of muscle removed from their thighs, and been 'de-barked' by having their voice-boxes cut out in a painful and bloody procedure.

This is only one person's thoughts... They test on volunteered animals so that mainstream pets, like your dogs and cats, don't get kidney failure, obesity, malnutrition, liver damage, severe allergic reactions, stomach inflammation, diarrhoea, severe skin disorders, lesions, skin wounds and other painful illnesses. I think, also, however, that the animals that they do that to (if they do it at all) should be kept in better conditions and better taken care of.

(sorry if i'm being irritable by the way, i am going through some *ahem* female things at the moment)

(sorry if i'm being irritable by the way, i am going through some *ahem* female things at the moment) No no no. You misunderstand me. I meant not to yell at me because what I said wasn't the same as what everybody else said. Yeah, it's a problem. It's got to be taken care of, you see. Just posting about it on some two-bit forum isn't going to make it any better. stare
And the thing is, this stuff goes on all the time. But things don't just fix themselves. If you see something as wrong, go out and DO something about it. If we know that it is wrong, which we do, we'd have to DO something to make it better, make it stop.
So practice what you preach. Tell everyone you know. Notify everybody. People who care enough to buy big-expensive pet foods like Iams will listen. Go and stand outside city hall. Go and get your friends and block the entrance to Iams companies with a human chain.
We always have to stand up for what we believe in. What they're doing is wrong. But they aren't just going to stop; you have to make them.
So go and do something about it.

[/rant]i wasn't yelling. =/ and i am aware that posting will not do anything about it. except for make the people who read it aware of it. which is something at least. my family and friends have become aware of it because of me. and i cannot personally do much about it... other than not supporting it and buying the products, and making others who want to buy them aware of it as well.
