Son of Axeman
I do not buy into environmental hysteria (logging companies ARE NOT CHOPPING DOWN THE RAINFOREST)

Global warming is bullshit, I severely disagree with you about the rainforest. The rest of your opinions I either agree with or respect, however. 3nodding

Naw, y'see, logging companies don't take from virgin forests. They ACTUALLY PLANT TREE FARMS, SPECIFICALLY TO CUT SAID TREES DOWN FOR USE.

...Really. I'm not making this up. Clear-cutting is no longer a popular practice. And, the more trees are cut down, the more trees logging companies plant. They're a RENEWABLE RESOURCE.

...Really, I swear. They are.

And the mass consensus is that global warming is a fact, and I believe that. I just don't buy that the world is going to end come 2050.

Allow me to clarify. In this country, loggers create tree farms... but you said rainforest, and unless you consider logging to be mainly done in Hawaii, this country has no major rainforests. I was making a reference to the Amazon, which has been proven to be in danger due to clear-cutting, mainly from illegal logging.

Illegal logging is a major practise in Brazil, where the peasant class is too poor to make a living by legal means in rural areas. National Geographic did an excellent article about it just a month or two ago.

The Amazon is 20 percent smaller than it was a hundred years ago. Logging has gone down in recent years, but it is still there, and is still large enough to be considered a crisis. Though I must point out that we are making progress in the situation.

And as for global warming, I believe it is happening, but I do not believe it's man-caused. It may be aided by man, but not to the extent that most people would have you believe. The world has been warming and cooling since the dawn of time. There's been dozens of ice-ages, but man was only around for the last. Europe did experience a mini-ice-age during the middle ages as well. It's simply a matter of long-term climate patterns.

Exactly right. The only reason the rainforests in Brazil are being torn down is because people are too bloody poor to afford to do anything else. Fix the poverty, fix the rainforest.

Actually the amount of carbon dioxide and other green house gases that humans create very year is astonomical, so to say that we are not causing it or the main factor behind it is plain f*****d up

Global warming is a serious problem and like you guys are talking about, the amazon is literally the lungs of our planet, if the amazon goes then were in a s**t load of trouble
