Okay so... my high school's "tri-school production's" just announced the 2 productions of the year. (There's a Fall Play and a Spring Musical).
The Fall Play is going to be "Noises Off!" *I've seen the movie, so is excited about that* Auditions will be Aug.30
And the Spring Musical will be "Aida" *never saw, but has listened to the soundtrack* Auditions will be Nov.14-16
xd The productions this year are soooo huge (we had to updo ourselves from last year's success with Midsummer Night's Dream and Beauty & the Beast). Me being a senior, I absolutely MUST get into either show. sweatdrop Thing is I don't have a lot of prior experience except doign stage crew/run crew for BATB... and I'm in a small community theatre production of Oklahoma! as ensamble/chorus.
Now what I'm asking is 2 things.... -A suggestion for a comedy monologue for the Noises Off! auditions. Something I can do with a british accent would be awesome. -A suggestion for a song from a musical for the rock/pop opera Aida auditions. I'm an alto, but I *eh* can do mezzo-soprano. Hell, I'll even take tenor songs, and I'll just make the key higher.
Please help! gonk

Gwendolyn has some pretty good short monologues in "The Importance of Being Earnest," so long as you can do an upper-class accent. Then again, they might be TOO short. And not everyone will laugh, unless they pay close attention.

Do the requirements say that you have to have a monologue from a play? If not, there's a nice little book called 111 One-Minute Monologues by Janet B. Milstein. Some of the are quite amusing and they're left very open so you can really play any character you want with them.
Break a leg with the auditions! smile

MysteronKitty - I thought it was usually 'frowned upon' to perform a song from a musical that is currently on Broadway or is doing their national tour. That's what my director told me, at least...
For the monologue, I would suggest searching for Oscar Wilde monologues. Their, obviously, meant for people with British accents, being British plays, there are quite a few comic ones, and they are of many different lengths.
As for the songs...I can't really help you out there. I have enough trouble finding audition songs for myself ^_^; But good luck!

All the songs are good from Beauty and the Beast...or do "A whole new world" form Aladdin(not sure if that's amusical, but it's a good song. Heck, all Disney songs are good for auditions, or they are for me.
