Yes I was gonna post this earlier but it kept slipping my mind, he never really was one of my favorite super heros or anything but he was one of the first. I'll let the disscusion go from there.

Copying a post I made elsewhere:

Spoilers (highlight to view):

If The Punisher picking the mask up is going to get properly followed up and isn't just a red herring, I'll be interested in seeing where it goes. Does nobody else here think that the political allegory just stepped up from being laid on with a trowel to a JCB?

Out goes the idealised projected image of America as the apple pie loving, white picket fence erecting defender of the weak - and in comes a ruthlessly unhinged vigilante who's so hung up on his own concept of the law that he runs around breaking everyone else's with pre-emptive strikes and anything else he feels he needs to do...

Subtle, ain't it?

End spoilers

I have yet to read the actual issue this happens (to be honest, the only American comic I've kept up with all these years is Archie's Sonic series), but I read an article about it.

And...not meaning to sound blunt, but I'm not all that phased. In the world of comics, death is not always the end, and I wouldn't be surprised if the guy was just resurrected somewhere down the line. It's a requisite of sorts...if you're a superhero, you gotta go through the dying thing at least once. : P

It's okay.

*hugs*

Not everyone here's an American. Not only do we have to wait a little longer for our US comics, but the fictional death of a superhero named "Captain America" isn't quite as newsworthy elsewhere (in the UK, our reports of fiction as actual news generally involve soap opera).

I actually heard from Samwise on another forum.

I have to get into the habit of making less blunt titles and adding (spoilers) on it. I'll make it my goal. smile

Can't see us caring much about the death of Captain Britain, either smile

Me neither - although if anything were to happen to Captain Midlands, I'd personally be a little disappointed. He's silly. smile

Rumour has it... wink So far it looks like it will be more about comics than about Doctor Who this year...

I'm not convinced. Have you checked the BBC's Who site recently?

I am ashamed that this character is unknown to me sad

Anyway, I can probably live with a Who-centric convention wink

Dr Who themed convention? I hope this still allows for us to get the chance to sit down and talk at the convention.... =/ I missed that way too much last year = (

As for Superheroes dying and coming back to life. Well my prime example would be the Superman and Doomsday event.

That's what I was saying - that the guest list looks less Doctor Who themed than last year and more comic themed. We still get Paul Cornell though smile If Sylvester McCoy turns up, you will see me go completely fan-girl...

You're right, it was a bit manic last year - so much to do and so little time to do it in. It was rather a whirl. At least this year I live marginally nearer the convention location.

Superheroes dying and coming back to life? *cough*Sonic & Shadow*cough*
