Journal Entries: #1 - The Assignment
The sun had long since gone to rest beneath the horizon, and the heat it provided had gone as well. It was 10:00 pm, two hours past the time she had been expected.
"Damn birthday party.." she muttered to herself, reaching over to turn on the radio. The hypnotic beat blasted through the speakers, the repetitive electronic noises and sounds slowly carrying the driver into a contemplative trance. As she sat back in her seat and relaxed, her mind left the present and began to race with the memories of the day's events.
"Sorry, but you're going to have to put in overtime today. We short-staffed and you're one of the only ones who even showed up today." That was her boss, a bad-tempered, overweight, balding man of about 50. Her dead-end job at Buddy's, the local Wal-Mart rip-off, had given her a stressful day. People with attitudes about $.05 price differences, people who hardly spoke English asking complex questions, people in the "All a Dollar" section inquiring as to the cost of said items, and more occurances were just ruining her day. On top of that, her boyfriend's birthday was tonight. She knew it would mean the world to him if she were there, but she also knew that all those debts wouldn't pay themselves.
"What's a little overtime, I guess? He'll understand."
And back to reality, here she was, asleep at the wheel. Overtime had taken an hour longer than expected, and a melancholy phone call had been made to her beau to explain the situation. He tried to hide his disappointment at her lateness to the festivities, but it showed through.
Her deep sleep dissolved into eternal sleep as her car veered off the road into a lake.
It was sad that they had to do this on the day of the bithday party. Spirits from another realm-spirits that somewhat felt emotion-had had to kill Kerryna so she could be bonded wtih the spirit of a Tison deity.
Her car was fixed from the water damage and placed in the transporter room of the Tison Space Ship, the Samadueanna.
Meanwhile the woman's body had to be healed and repaired. As she was on a schedule they tried to make quick work of it. Separate her soul and send it to bond while they repaired her body and sent it to the ship. As the doctor on the ship would be necessary to give her some meds to stay awake when she returned to life, he was the one notified of the new guardian's arrival. Around her neck the spirits placed a silver chain after they put her in a bed on the ship for Sasha to find. The chain would soon house a relic for the deity that had bonded with her.
And soon as the woman's soul was done bonding the two souls were sent back to their hosts. And the relic of a silver cat appeared on the chain to hold the goddess's spirit. Sasha smiled as the woman began to stir. He had her information in a PDA type device-courtesy of these strangely empowered spirits-and he was quite eager to get things explained so she could get going to her apointment.
Conciousness bean to leak back into her being, eyelids slowly lifting. As her hazel brown eyes came into focus, coherent thoughts began again in her mind.
What's going on..what happened..
"Where am I!?" She shouted, sitting straight up. "What the hell is going on?" She backtracked in her mind.
Okay, I was driving to Ryan's for his birth-
"Is this heaven?" She asked out loud, completely clueless. She looked around franticly, seeing nothing but the chrome interior of the spaceship, something silver around her neck, and a strange, smiling man holding some sort of electronic device.
"Uhm, excuse me.." She said, turning to the only other person in the room. He looked like someone professional- a doctor perhaps. "Could you tell me what is going on here?" Kerryna inquired, slowly returning to her normal shy, quiet self. "Certainly. Though I will have to make it brief. You have a party to get to. " Sasha told her cheerfully.
"My name is Sasha Sachita. And I am the doctor on the Tison Space Ship the Samadueanna. Tison's a foriegn universe that you don't really have to worry about knowing anything about for a while. Anyway it had gods that got murdered and now they have to be reborn to save Tison. Well the reborn gods need to be cared for by gaians. So someone's been picking gaians, killing them, having them bond with the soul of one of the gods and reviving them on this ship. You were picked to be a guardian of a reborn deity. In 2 days the funny necklace on your neck is going to become a baby." Sasha said, trying to summarize the story.
Kerryna just stared at him, mouth gaping open. Realizing her unattractive state, she quickly shut her mouth, and began to blink again. This story was completely ridiculous! Then again, she lived in Gaia, where cows were commonly abducted... and she did feel, somehow, different. Maybe what this man spoke was the truth. Kerryna was an open-minded girl, after all, "Okay..Sasha, so there's a diety..in this?" She picked up the amulet that had been draped around her neck. "And it's going to become a baby... Hm, now I know how Mary must have felt." She sighed, and shrugged her shoulders. "Well, as long as I get my life back.." "Yes, you do get your life back and so long as we get you back into your car and teleport you back onto the road near Ryan's house you should be on time for your party." Sasha said cheerfully, leading her to the transporter room where her car waited. "Here's the number for the ship. Call us if you need anything" and with that another guardian had recieved her charge.

Journal Entries: #2 - The Next Day
Luckily, upon arriving, she could tell the party was still goingas loud, electronic-sounding beats could be heard through the front door. "Depeche Mode.." She muttered to herself with a small grin. She loved his music taste. Ringing the doorbell, the door had been answered by Ryan, sober expression warming at the sight of her. "Ker! I didn't think you'd make it!" He exclaimed, grabbing her in his arms, and pulling her close, squishing her face into his black Joy Division t-shirt.
"Haha, okay, okay, I'm here! It's not like I died or anything.." She laughed, as he finally released her from a strong bear hug. She paused for a moment, realizing how false her previous statement was. Wow, what a day. She had just died... Ah, but it was not worth worrying about now. She was back, and apparently, had a new job to do. Hey, it was better than retail.
Kerryna walked in, greeted a few friends, and headed for the kitchen. The counter was littered with various bowls of snack foods. She began to munch on potato chips, and grabbed a soda. Brushing the potato chip crumbs from her violet coloured scarf, she noticed the chain about her neck once again. "I wonder.." She muttered to herslef, running her fingers along the shiny amulet. "What do you look like? What's your name? What are you like?" Kerryna shrugged with a grin. "Well, we'll find out eventually, I guess." She got up from her chair, and walked back into the living room, holding her coke. Ryan walked over to her. "Long day?" She sighed, and shook her head. "You could say that.."

Journal Entries #3 - A typical day at work.
Another day, and still no sign of any extra-terrestrial baby. Maybe it had all been some twisted dream? Then again, dreams don't usually leave you with a cat-shaped necklace and a wet car. These thoughts drifted into and out of Kerryna's mind as she idly did her work as a cashier. "20.56. Thank you. Have a nice day." This sentence was repeated over and over, the only thing changing being the number in the beginning. "11.62. Thank you. Have a nice day." Sometimes she threw in "come again" to add a bit of zest. She'd been at this job so long, she hardly needed half of her brain to carry out scanning and making change. Then again, with computers, did anyone need more than half a brain? Her focus slowly relocated to the items she was scanning, although thoughts of her out-of-body excursion would return at every glance of the locket about her neck.
Pet food. Potato chips. A cheap, chinese-made plastic action figure.
She sighed, realizing how mundane her life was. This routine, it was so boring, something really needed to change.
"Miss? Miss? 'scuze me?" Kerryna's thoughts dissipated as she realized this thickly urban accented voice was directed towards her. "Yes?" She replied, attempting to seem pleasant. Taking one look at the two who now stood before her, she knew precisely what she would be asked. Standing there were a couple. The male wore baggy dark blue jeans, and a black hoodie adorned with shiny crosses and diamonds unzipped so that the long, white t-shirt could be seen underneath. Atop his head was a baseball cap turned to the side. His girlfriend, or perhaps whore as her attire suggested, stood next to him. She wore tight pink sweatpants with a white racing stripe down the side and "sexy" written in big letters on the a** of them, as well as the matching half-jacket, and a low cut white shirt, which was transparent enough that her cheetah-print bra was visible underneath. Giant gold hoops dangled from her ears, with "Virgo" written inside them. 'Virgo, the virgin,' thought Kerryna slyly, 'I doubt it.' The boy continued his inquiry. "You got any condoms behidn the counter there?" "Yes, we keep them back here. Would you like a box?" "Yeeah," he replied, "gimme a 64-pack. XXL please." He grinned, and Kerryna noted that he probably spent more money on condoms then dentist visits. He turned to his 'boo' and nodded as she giggled. 'Hmph,' Kerryna thought again, 'he'll porbably get her pregnant because these are probably waaay too big for him.' She handed him his package, then his change, and just shook her head as they headed out the door. "I hate people." She mumbled to herself, holding tightly to the relica bout her neck.
