Alright this is a topic that most Smallville fans can't agree on-- Can Clark fly. Or is he still leaping tall buildings in a single bound? What's your opinion, why or why not?

He can't fly. Still jumping. Only Kal-el can fly. Plus, they have said that they won't have Clark fly in Smallville.

I think Clark CAN fly, but just either doesn't know/think he can or is too afraid. If you think about it, Kal-El and Clark are the same body. Kal-El just KNEW he could fly, or wasn't afraid to.

But I guess it's debatable. This is where I stand, though. biggrin

There really is one reason wh CLARK cant fly. People will want the costume. They can hev KAL-EL fly because he isn't Clark and no one expects the costume with Kal-El. But I will call it now on the series finale Clark will indeed fly.

@ Saber neutral Clarks already flew as Clark 3 times: Twice in the first season and once in the second season (Wonders why they've not dedicated an episode to him flying emo )

@ crystal I absolutly agree... Personally I think it's his fear of hights that's keeping him grounded (wonders why Clark is afraid of hights)

@ clueles Yeah you could call them long jumps or loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong jumps? xd

@ Ubriacone Your avvy reminds me of the leader of the Ax gang from Kong-Fu Hussle (doesn't really have anything to do with this but since I was addressing everyone else lol)

I really don't think those count given the lines they gave Clark after he flew as Kal-El. It was a completely new experience to him.

Uh no I saw a magazine article about him flying. Plus if the made an episode about his flight. I'd call it 'Evolution' and feature him having frost breath, heat vision, and super breath. Cuz i have yet to see him do it.

@ Foetus, I think he was shocked that he could fly a step farther and then some when he was Kal-El then in the past...

Watch: Metamorphosis 1-2, Tempest 1-21 / Vortex 2-1 and Rosetta 2-17...

If you have Season 2 on DVD read the description of Vortex in the yellow episode guide.

confused I'd like to see him atleast lean how to do a controled hover before this season ends... emo I mean he knows he can fly, for some reason he just isn't trying to learn how to use them like the others...

He had a dream about flying and found himself levitating over his bed. Dream flying, well who hasn't done that in their life and leveitating isn't flying cause you aren't moving anywhere and you are only a couple feet off the ground. In Vortex he jumped into a funnel of air that made everything in it fly around so you can't say that he was flying because then you could say that Lana and her truck were also flying along with cows and debree. With Rosetta, again, dreaming. All the other times when he was flying, he was Kal-el, not regular farmboy Clark that is hooked on Lana. All he does is jump really high to catch missles or really far to land on big rigs.

Isn't levitation a form of flight? As Both would be a defiance of gravity. One is just taken to more extremes than the other...

Actually he ran into the twister... At the end of Vortex Clark told his father he was never more scared in his life than when he was inside the tornado... But he felt like he was willing his self to Lana's truck and it felt like he was flying in contrast to spinning out of controle...

I'll give you Rosetta, even though it was implied that he flew...

Other than that it's nothing more than leaping tall buildings in a single bound...

All it shows if he flies involuntarily is that he's physically capable of flying, which we already knew, but that he can't because he has inhibitions or whatever. When he was Kal-El he could fly because he had accepted his "destiny", which we know he hasn't fully done as Clark (because they keep telling us).

Levitation is when you are suspended against gravity in at stable position. Flying is actual movement through air. I don't see how floating in one place can be considered flying since flying means you have to move places.

Sure he said it felt like he was flying, but he wasn't in my book. When I see him actually lift off the ground and fly at the actually Clark Kent, then I will say he flew.

Can Clark Fly? Yeah. He has the natural ability to fly, but can he fly as in actually fly on his own at at will, no. So in my book, that is classified as a no, he can not fly.

Bravo. Thats what I'm feeling, but when I try to explain it, it's "dur, bleb bleb bleble..." I think that if he absolutely HAD to, he could. I'm sure he has an inkling that he can.

Clark has ALWAYS known how to fly, its only a matter of developing his power. Since Clark has a fear of heights, its one of his powers that he doesn't exactly WANT to discover. Kal always brought out a new found courage within him, his dare devil self. But like all his powers he has to practice and learn how to use his power of flight before he become the famous Flying man we all know and love.
