I saw RENT today in Detroit, and it was AMAZING.
I was a little upset because Declan wasn't there, but I got to meet Harley (Mark), Tracy (Maureen), Dustin (Roger understudy) and Aaron (Various parts). It was sooo amazing! I got hugs and autographs, and a picture with Harley! ((It wasn't on my camera, so I don't have it yet, but I'm so happy!
I do have one complaint though. I loved everyone's performance, the cast was wonderful, but Melvin.. He plays Angel, and his voice... not right for Angel. At the beginning it was okay, but... in La Vie Boheme, and especially the solo in Contact... he didn't sound the greatest. However, he did give a great performance :]
Ahhh. The joys of RENT.

Yeah, me and my friend went. We went to a different city to see it, and we got there like four hours before the show started, but we weren't getting a motel room or anything, so while my parents randomly drove around, me and my friend scoped the area. We were at a beach, so we were walking along it, which was also right across from the building where RENT was taking place, and we ended up at the tour bus. x] It was great, at first it seemed so desolate we were like, "ARE WE AT THE RIGHT PLACE?!" Then someone came out of the tour bus wearing a RENT shirt and we were like, "Oh... =D" Didn't get to meet anyone, but when various people came out of the tour bus while we were hanging out by the beach (pre-show), they stared at us as though they thought we had come to assasinate the cast members. Then again, it must've been odd, we looked like we were trying to scope them out or something. Didn't get to meet any of them, which was sad, since I promised a friend who couldn't make it I'd get autographs. Boo, hoo.
Yeah, it was amazing to insane degrees. I find I rather liked Mel-Mel though, I thought he did a pretty good Angel. And I must say, Declan as Roger? ADORABLE. Sorry you missed him. I loved how he didn't try to hide his British accent. And I rather enjoyed Krystal Brown, too, who left shortly after we saw her in February. I'm already looking for tickets in the closest city the next time they come. Sadly, though, the soonest they come back is like a week before I'm going to see Wicked, and I don't think I have the time/money for another play so soon, but they don't come back to my area until at least after like July. What to do, what to do.
If I do go back, though, I'm determined to find them after the show and attack them with autograph requests. Rawr if I could find where the actors go afterward but you know.
Glad you liked them, I KNOW I did!

It really was amazing!
Because I'm cool enough to know darling Lollipop in real life and cool enough to go see RENT with her AND Bkg. I love my RENTheads.
And I got a picture with Harley too.
I cosplayed as him and he complimented me on my scarf!
It was so cool. (gosh I'm acting like a little fan girl)
Anyways it was cool.
