Do you think you can keep from mentioning such things?

I'm going to sticky this, but then I'll un-sticky it (I think I can do that) or delete it, most likely.

Fact is, it is offensive to talk about people who are not members of the SubForum here, unless they are national figures. So I will ask that people try to refrain from doing so. I will also edit out any non-SubForum-er's Gaia Screen Name from any new posts.

I quit the PCG, just so that no threats of bannings could be used on any active member here. Really, before this mess, I posted there so little I might as well just have been a lurking non-member. A good half the news articles they link (which are the threads I'm most interested in) I've already heard about through the Wii News Channel, my News Blog, or the Daily Show anyway. *shrug*

Anywho, I would like to ask that the PCG also not be mentioned by name in a negative light. Perhaps a less specific term (like "some guilds" or "a certain guild") might be used instead. I will not edit mentions out, but I will suggest that they be kept to a minimum.

Also, I would like to vent a tiny bit. "Where my loyalties lie" indeed.

People here are nice to me, and were so before I was banned, and even while I was being banned.

People elsewhere, some are nice, but a select few are very much not so.

Why would I choose a Guild that doesn't accept that my beliefs different slightly but significantly from theirs' (since a good half of the people who took offense to my speculation really seemed to be upset that I think that late term abortions in Canada -- and also the US -- should be more strictly regulated than they are) over a Guild that accepts me even though my beliefs are significantly different from theirs'?

*scoffs*

Ok, I'm totally done being at all peeved about this. Isn't "peeved" a great word (also "scoffs")?

That's one of my favorite words xd

Did you just contradict yourself, or is that kind of reference okay? I mean...I'll try, but I get mad. I've been name-dropped in there, and I'll never report anyone in there because life's too short. If they want to be mad at me, fine. If they'd like to take my words out of context, that's okay too, because I know what I say. I'm very bad at articulating myself sometimes and understand that people will misinterpret my words. But I still get mad, it's hard not to.

I didn't mention any person or any Guild by name. They can't report anyone for saying things about "a specific person" or "a certain Guild" because there is no proof of who(m?) or what we might be referencing.

Since I very well could be talking about the Happy Fun Guild and the Murdering Puppies Guild. If there actually is a MPG somewhere, I would be surprised.

It is very hard to not get upset, especially when someone completely misinterprets some tiny part of what you've said.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Let's face it, no one is perfect (even if some people like to think they are -- I'm talking about you Micheal Moore). I expect that people and groups that we're mad at will still be called by name at times. I just wanted a reminder (if mostly to myself) that we should probably try not to do so too much.

I suppose we could also be petty and report any time anyone says any of our names over there. They've probably said enough about me that I actually could try for some sort of silly harassment thing or something. But I, personally, am both too secure in my own self-image and too lazy to even bother doing so.

I suppose that any large organization is going to eventually attract power-hungry assholes. And some of them will get the power they crave and abuse it. *shrug*

If it makes some people happy to throw giant drama-fests (and I know plenty of people who need drama -- which can't be healthy) then who am I to stand in the way of their happiness? *wink*

I think my assholish streak wore off and I've receded back into my submissive state, so I probably won't be using names or guild names anytime soon unless something gets to me.

Yeah.

I sort of wanted a "venting thread" just because sometimes something or someone really does "get to you". But I know that people we might vent about would read it, and get upset. So it's not a good idea in the SubForum.

Which is too bad, because venting is so healthy. Bottling up your anger until you explode really just makes things so much worse.

I'm happy, at the moment, because I thought I had to paraphrase Kiekegaard and I don't until next week. Yay. So, other than avoiding certain places for a while, so as to remain happy, I'm fine.

Basically in terms of rules. If you quote someone, take their name out, and don't say things about individual people, other than that it's okay. It's apparently not against Gaian rules to slander a group of people only an individual person.

I have no problem with people mentioning the PCG as a whole, or saying "some members" but like I said, just don't mention individual people. Unless it's in a positive light because I highly doubt they'll get a mod on my a** for that.

Oh and that's right, another thing to mention. When you mention other people and they report you the mods get after ME. So please, for the love of me don't do it. I don't want anyone getting banned, and I also don't want to have to deal with mods as understanding as the one that I talked to, was.

Weird...

So I could say that the PMG (Puppy Murdering Guild) is a bunch of doo-doo-heads, but not that I_Murder_Puppies_684938238 (which, if this is a real Gaian Screen Name, I do not mean the actual Gaian) is a doo-doo-head? That is very odd.

Oh - and I totally love your new Avatar outfit! It matches very nicely.

Precisely. Basically it's okay to "state your opinion" about a group of people, and say they are, oh I don't know, a bunch of women hating assholes. But if you say that about an individual it's against the rules. The mod and I had a loooong chat about this.

So wait, when they specifically produce a name that slanders us in any way we can be a pissy group and call a mod on them?

Like, they can say, "All pro-lifers," (which includes you) suck and hate women, but they can't say, "Kaiser," sucks and hates women...even though as a pro-lifer, that means they ARE saying you suck and hate women.

rofl Waters do you mind if I call you a doo-doo-head for saying doo-doo-head? But then I guess that would make me a doo-doo-head for calling you a doo-doo-head for saying doo-doo-head. xd

Yes, I intentionally made that confusing so I could say doo-doo-head multiple times. lol

Oh I know, I was just rubbing my eyes in wonderment.

I un-stickied this, like I said I might, because 8 people have voted in the poll, which means that just about everyone who comes in here has probably seen it.
