The early springtime sun filtered through the filmy clouds, dousing the landscape in a bright, diffused glow. The new plants were thriving on the sunshine and dampness, so that the grass already grew to a grown wolf's chest in some places. Insects were busy taking advantage of this new growth, and other creatures were also stirring, tending to new life that had occured during the winter.
Equuleus had decided to take the day off. The rising warmth made him feel comfortably lazy, and he figured it would do no harm to relish in some quite time doing... nothing!
So he was flopped on his side in the tall grass, tail still and eyes closed. His black fur soaked in the muted rays of sunshine, warming his whole body deliciously. The hum of the diligent insects made a very appealing lullabye as ell, and only an occasional twitch of his ears when one of them ventured into their fuzzy insides revealed that he was alive.
Simply put, it was a perfect afternoon.

Eiros was finding the tall grass an excellent place to practice his hunting skills. Utterly convinced he would be a skilled hunter and feared warrior, the blue-grey wolf practiced every chance he got. However, opinion and reality often differ.
The reality was that he was a brash, reckless puppy, charging into scraps with anything smaller than he and sometimes things bigger. And he didn't always wait to see what his 'prey' really was.
This was the case today, as Eiros sprang from his crouch onto a fluffy dark thing. Which just happened to be a wolf tail.

The starred wolf, despite his closed eyes and relaxed posture, had heard the pup coming for some time now. The loud rustling and snuffling and little puppy noises gave him away easily. Thus, he wasn't shocked when the pup suddenly leapt out of the surrounding grass to land on his tail. Anticipating a mauling of his appendage if he did not move, he sat up and dumped the pup into a comfy tumble amongst the crushed grass blades.
He gazed down at the fluffy furball that was a puppy, and leaned to examine him. As the pup naturally squirmed, he placed a gentle paw on him to keep him there while he nosed over him, snuffling wetly. Hmm... no familiar scents to him. Was this pup lost?
"Hey there, big game hunter," he chuffed gently at the pup, removing his paw to let him up. "My tail isn't good to eat, you know." He smiled down at the ferocious hunter, tongue lolling out of the side of his mouth goodnaturedly.

"Grrr...ack...hey!" Nearly flipping onto his feet in his haste to get upright, Eiros backed up, making a show of raising his hackles. He was pretty sure the game was up, but he wanted to drag it out, just a little longer. "Who are you?"
