Anoki was starting to wonder if these lands were inhabited by strange males and insane females. His home pack hadn't been so...odd, but the majority of the wolves he'd met since joining River Pack had serious issues of one sort or another. He'd taken to wandering the fringes of the pack lands to hunt, laying low until the internal conflicts settled and a victor was declared.

At least he wasn't running into crazy wolves quite so often out here.

Well, as far as the pack lands being completely inhabited by strangely behaviored wolves to the brim is true or not, it was certainly a special case for this rogue-ess.

The long, cold grasp of winter has finally begun to shake off, leaving puddles of once fluffy snow in its wake. Dristi, not one who is partial to any form of cold weather [being from ..elsewhere], had acquired a habit of sleeping through this harsher time much like a bear would, only without the "stuffing your face till it hurts" in the beginning. About now, she would be under one of those impressionable naps besides a large fallen over tree, but with the snow melting..

It makes it difficult for one to stay asleep with a constant drip drip drip on the forehead.

Having had already woken up and happily come to the conclusion that the temperature is tolerable for the day, the multi-coloured shewolf is currently taking full delight in...jumping from puddle to puddle, without really paying too much attention to her surroundings, so if anybody else also finds themself slightly out of focus with reality, they might become victim of a ferocious splash of water.

As what was mentioned before, "special case".

Having withdrawn into thought as he padded along, Anoki nearly leapt out of his skin as water splashed into his face. Which, for him, meant starting slightly and shaking his head to rid it of the water, and then looking around for the cause. Steel blue eyes surveyed the female, and he was relieved at what he saw.

For one, she appeared to be simply playful, instead of insane or hostile. For another, she was rather easy on the eye. "Hello," he said, tail wagging slowly in greeting.

Faster and faster she lept from puddle to puddle, her mind completely wrapped around this far-reached game that she didn't even notice Anoki on the sideline, nor splashing him, for that matter. It wasn't until he had said hello that she even realized her whereabouts and stopped, skidding across water and haulting in a most magnificent coat of mud.

Shaking the dirt off her fur, Dristi turns around and eyes the now wet brownish wolf. "Oh! Er...sorry 'bout that," she remarks rather sheepishly. With this comment one would realize how odd this girl really is: her vowl pronounciation is more brightly than others, her r's rolled lightly with her tongue. At this point, it'd be obvious she wasn't from around this territory at all.

The slow wag of Anoki's tail became more genuine as he chuckled. "It's alright," he replied amiably, eyes warming. He often seemed to be as solid as the earth he resembled...when he wasn't running into one crazy wolf after another. "It's good to see someone focused on play rather than politics, or revenge. Sometimes I wonder if even the puppies here are bent on such things."

Dristi raises an eyebrow, a bit taken aback by the reply. "Politics? Revenge?" Head slightly tilting upwards and eyes rolling back, she thinks hard about her last encounter with anyone in the woods. There was...no, that was a year ago. How about...no, same two wolves. Hmm.....this can't be a good thing. Blinking, she snaps back to her present situation and briefly looks over the first amount of company she's had in about a year and a half. "Apparently I'm the new Rip Van Wynkle, for I don't remember any negative aspects of the sort...so I must have slept from one winter to the other, it would seem." She gives him a half grin. "I would not know why any wolves be fighting each other, or why pups are born with so much malice!"

She takes a look around, surveying the trees with their sagging limbs, aching for the sun to dry and flourish them with leaves, and the puddle she herself was standing in. She wriggles her paws and shivers at the cold sensation of the lapping ripples. "I can't understand why they would...everything else seems to be just fine."

"I'm glad," Anoki said with feeling. Realizing that what he had said might be misinterpreted, he hastily added, "That you haven't had to meet such yet, of course. Some of my pack's members are...interesting." That was a mild word for 'Neira. Jori seemed alright though, and Kiros had been friendly, though perhaps not completely honest. He wondered what this 'Kara' would be like. "It's nice to meet a new face."

She found out amusing how quickly Anoki is to correct himself to ensure no harmed, or in his case angered, feelings. She chuckles a little and, to sort of prove her point in her own skewed way, takes her paw and splashes him again with puddle water.

"Cool down, take a chill pill, and all those other phrases they say when they simply mean," she smiles at this, "relax. You're very tense and stepping around in wee tippy paws. That can't be healthy, even for a pack."

"M'name's Dristi. It is indeed nice to meet a new face." Feeling her bottom half getting a little soggy from sitting in the puddle too long, she takes this silent opportunity to stand back up and flick her tail free of clinging moisture. "What makes your pack members so, as you put it....interesting? I haven't been in one since I was very little."

"My apologies, m'lady," Anoki replied, giving Dristi a teasing grin to show that he was jesting. "My name is Anoki." He did flop down, though, tail beating lightly against the ground in a relaxed manner. "Well...the alpha is apparently missing. The wolf that invited me in, I thought he was the alpha, but I was corrected by a very hostile female. Something makes me think she's like that with any male, though. But now I know the alpha's not a male, but rather a female, a 'Kara.' But he and his...mate, I believe, since he had a pup with him that looked like her, and she had one with her that looked like him...are in charge until she returns." His brow furrowed. "Or at least I think so. I'm new to their lands, and it seems rather complicated."

"Hmm.." Dristi flicks her ears back, drinking in the information that Anoki is relaying to her. How odd that this pack behaves so loose and scattered. "No, no, that's not good at all...aren't packs supposed to be, you know..compact? A lot of them together and knowing where each other are?" Squinting an eye, she tries to remember how her old pack might have been..but without luck. "Looks like you may have to find the rest of your pack members to get the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, so help you bob." A nod of the head ends this quirky phrase, expression as serious as serious can be.

"Perhaps so." Anoki laughed slightly and shrugged. "I'm not too worried about it...that sort of thing tends to sort itself out, you know?" He yawned, stretching. "So. You've really been sleeping this whole time?"

"If you say so...usually when it comes to a situation like that I don't like to wait around for it to get better..but I digress." She gives a wry grin, giggling a little at his next question. "I certainly feel like it! My joints are stiff, I haven't seen anyone in AGES...my god, I feel old." She wrinkles her nose at this and shakes her head from the thought. "And I'm certainly not old."

"I dunno..it's a little bid disheartening to realize one day that, in all honesty, you've been in a territory for a long time, which isn't normally like myself, and you still don't have any connections. It's like I'm subconsciously making sure that I stay away from others...I don't want my independance taken away. I don't want to have to settle down. I love the lands, and I love being able to see all of it." Her brows furrow a little. "I'm not sure why I've been here for so long. Something is tugging, I suppose."

She laughs a little, shaking the rest of the water off her body and looking around some more. "But the last thing I want to do is tell you my life story! So where are we? What does a wolf like yourself do for fun nowadays?"

"Perhaps your spirit senses a future mate nearby and doesn't want to leave him," Anoki said, laughing slightly at the thought. It was rediculous, if amusing. "But you hardly look old, so that's a good sign. Isn't it?" He tilted his head, eyes taking in her violet pelt. "Me? I'm boring. I hunt."
PostPosted: Sat Mar 10, 2007 6:09 pm

Dristi bursts into a fit of laughter at the thought. "ME? With a mate? Haha..ha..ha...!!" Her body shakes in an attempt to control the laughter, but with the thought flying by her mind one last time she's gone. Her body collapses, luckily away from the puddle she had been sitting in before, and she continues to giggle and snort in a most unfeminine like way until the fit passes on. She lays there, heaving heavily, and wiping a stray tear from her face.

"Aha..oh..oh, I'm so sorry. That was so rude of me." With a last sigh, she pushes herself back up and sits down in front of her 'joker'. "Not like anyone would like to stay with this traveling broad. It's like I'm the wind!" She winks. "Hunting, eh? What's your game?"

"There are undoubtedly unliklier prospects who once thought the same, until they found themselves with one. You really never know." Anoki smiled a little. "No offense taken, though. I'm hunting...whatever I can find, that I'm strong enough to take down."
