Quest Time!

On a particularly snowy day, a package wrapped in brown paper arrives on the doorstep. It isn't addressed properly, thus it can be assumed that it was delivered by hand; yet, there are no signs of footprints on scene at all. Prana's name, in messy cursive writing, seems to be the only clue to the mysterious person's identity.

Inside will be a drum bound in leather and decorated with beads and feathers. Take us through a twilight experience in which the drum, as well as the feathers that Prana has been collecting, play an important role in helping Prana discover more about her past self.

Quest post 1: In the 'rum tum tum' of the Shaman's drum...

Faevan heard a sharp rapping at the door. Curious who could be knocking on a blustery day such as the present one, she stood and looked out the window by the door. Large white snowflakes greeted her, but she couldn't seem to spot anyone else out there. With a bit of hesitation, she grabbed her coat, bundling it over her shoulders before opening the door, an icy breeze blowing through to chill her.

"Hello?" She called into the air. Her voice made it no further than a few feet as the wind howled at her. She looked around once more, and was just about to close the door when she felt someting come into contact with her foot. A package in plain brown wrapper lay at her feet. Faevan bent to inspect the thing. The wrapping was poorly done, and the hand writing was sloppy and hard to make out. She reached out, dusting off the accumulated snow with the back of her hand. "Prana..? Must be a late Christmas gift from one of the other Legends." She feebly assumed, picking up the package and bundling it up against her chest. It was heavier than she expected, but then again, she hadn't been feeling too well, and everything seemed tiring to her when she was sick. Faevan looked out into the snow one last time. There were no footprints, but the package was warm. But perhaps the snow simply covered the tracks after the visitor had come. She closed the door swiflty, blocking out the icy world once more.

In the living room, Prana lay on her back, feet in the air as she contemplated the claws affixed to her booties. Her mother had spared the injustice of one of her dresses today, and she was much more comfortable having her legs covered. She didn't like the cold, and dresses made her breezy about the knees. Her green eyes darted to her mother, reguarding her with a seriousness that could be eerie at times.

"Look what came for you, munchkin."

Prana tilted her head back, and the serious mask broke to one of joy and curiosity. She had since learned that when it was cold, wrapped packages often meant new things. Flipping over, she crawled over to her mother and up into her lap as the woman sat. "Bos!" She pointed at the package, her fingers curling about the string that bound the parcel.

"Yes, a box. Shall I open it for you?" Faevan asked. Prana nodded her head, dark hair bobbing about her face. Faevan tucked it behing her ears for her before removing the paper. Her hands stilled as she opened the cardboard flap on the box. "Oh, how lovely..."

"Aaa?" Prana's green eyes peered into the box. Something different form all the other wrapped boxes was inside. She watched in quiet anticipation as her mother reverently pulled out a leather drum, the beaded trim spilling over and cascading down from the instrument, brushing Prana's face. She reached up a hand, grabbing at one of the beads.

"Your a lucky girl, Prana. You're Uncle Dio would love this." She darted the object away as Prana began to pull on the beaded fringe. "No no, don't pull." She warned, before moving it closer. Prana was more careful this time, gently touching the drum with gloved fingertips. Her hand tapping against the leather made a hollow echo, and she pulled it back quickly, looking at it for a moment before tapping it again. "It's a drum, see?" Faevan tapped her fingertips against it rythmically for a few beats.

Pretty noise, like Dare's toy! Prana clapped her hands, elated that someone had given her something to make pretty sounds with. She reached up with both hands, and Faevan handed her the drum, which she settled in her own fur covered lap. She smoothed her little hands over it, the fur of her cuffs making a hollow scratching sound. Gently, Faevan took her hands, aiding her in tapping out a rythym. Once it played, then twice, then...

..stillness.

Prana looked up at her guardian, who was as still as the air on a windless day. Faevan was in mid pose, Prana's hand still clutched gently in hers. Prana wriggled a bit, freeing herself, before letting herself down from her Guardian's lap. She tugged on Faevan's clothing for a bit, but the woman just wouldn't budge. Prana's green eyes began to cloud with tears a she became more panicked. She didn't know why Mum was sleeping. Sniffling, she gathered what senses a baby could muster and stifled her fears. Maybe the thing from the box would wake her up? It made loud noises. She crawled over to it, stumbling a few times, and finally falling upon it. Righting herself, she poised her childish hands, and despite their weak strengh she slammed them down against the tightened leather as hard as they could.

Bang

Nothing...

Bang

Not a single movement...

BANG!!!

As her fists fell, the entire room fell into darkness, the soft glow of the electric lights fizzling in an instant, and the warmth of the fireplace vanishing. She sat there, alone in the dark, and she did what any baby would do in that situation...

...she started to cry.

As heavy tears fell, she fumbled her way through the darkness to where she last saw her Guardian. But when she reached the spot where Faevan ought to have been, she encountered nothing but emptiness. But with intent, despite her tears, she kept moving. She was home, and her Mother had to be somewhere in the room with her. But as her hand reached down, she encountered something cold, and pulled it away sharply. She clutched it to herself, and felt the slushy wetness. She was in snow. The coldness swirled around her, and she finally gave up, letting her sadness take her and wailing in the cold darkness...

Final Quest Recap

Drawn into a cold barren world, Prana is left alone in the darkness. She presses on, chased by something unseen. One by one, she calles on each feather that any Legend had ever given her, and in animal form, they all lead her onward to her final conflist, the demonis Anasai, who had been and will continue to torment her in her dreams, even though she managed to escape and best him in this meeting. When all is said and done, Prana returns home, right to the time where time stopped, only to find herself a bit wiser, and even more greatful of her friends, while her Guardian carried on life as normal.

Shortly afterwards, Prana grew.

Journal Recap From Quest Onward

Once grown to a child, Faevan begins to teach Prana to read and write, giving her the journal to mark herself, should she choose. All goes well for a time, until Faevan falls ill for very long period of time. While Faevan sleeps and tries to recover, Prana becomes restless. She's been having dreams of Anasai again, and each time, he gets closer to her. He's been threatening to harm her, and all she holds dear, naming her a cheat and a fake. Telling her she has no power at all. At the same time, Prana is doing her best to try to heal Faevan with what little healing power she does have, but it doesn't seem to do anything, and Prana begins to suspect that Anasai is in fact affecting her Guardian.

More time passes, and Prana becomed extremely restless, not being able to visit the HQ due to her Guardian's health. She sneaks ot one night, on her own, prompting Faevan to go look for her. Anger ensues on Faevan's part, but she does begin to understand that Prana needs the company of other Legends, and yields, taking Prana to the HQ more often, after her period of grounding ends. Soon after this incident, Anasai appears to Prana again in her dreams, and right hen she begant to think he couldn't touch her in her dreams, he attacks her, the damage appearing on her physical body. Faevan discovered her Legend bleeding out in bed for a large bit mark on her forearm. Faevan took her to the hopsital, and was threatened by a social worker in the process. But all ended well, and she managed to collect Prana and get her home safely. Prana recovered well, and shows no trauma from the dream except for some silvery pale scars where the skin was torn. However, her hands have been burning whenever she sees someone who needs a touch of healing, and privately Prana thinks her powers have been growing stronger.

After she was all healed, Faevan felt it was time for Prana to return to the HQ, and Prana saw Quinny for the first time in a very very long time. Reunited with her friend, she seemed to get her spark back, and that brings us to the present...

Prana and Lafe RP

Quote:
Lafe was wriggling in Wren's as much as possible, once he heard the click of the HQ door shutting behind them. They were inside the building and that meant Wren could let him down now, he didn't have to hold him all the time. Obviously, the demon didn't realize that Lafe was well over his being held and carried limit. He buried his face into his scarf, tail swishing in mild agitation, while Wren continued to carry him towards the couch and the chairs.

"Impatient today, aren't we?" Wren asked, peering down at Lafe as he set him on the couch and put his courier bag beside the baby. The look Lafe gave him, or rather the childish glare, might've been cute but it faded quickly and the young pooka started to look around the place. He was seeing if anybody else was around, his ears listening intently and his nose sniffing at the air. Wren was, of course, busy pulling out a few things for Lafe from his bag.

Prana ran from the car, and was at the HQ door well before her Guardian even stepped out of the car.
"Hurry mum!" She called back, cupping her hands over her mouth to amplify the sound. Faevan just shook her head, laughing.
"Go on inside. I'll be there in half a moment." She gave a quick glance to make sure Prana did indeed go inside before rummaging through the backseat of her car, past the wrappers from yesterday's lunch, looking for her Prana's things.
Prana, in the meantime, had barreled into the HQ. She had been anxious to get back, wanting to knw if Guinny was feeling better. However, a Legend of a whole different color seemed to be watiting for her. Her green eyes grew wide, reflecting the swishing tail, the pointed ears. She remembered the fox Legend...and despite her best efforts, she was scared. Unconciously, her hand rose to her injured arm, covering the scars gently. He's not Anasai...He's not Anasai... She repeated over and over to herself. However, try as she might, she couldn't coax her feet to move.
"Munchkin, why are you standing in the doorway?" Faevan inquired as she caught up with the girl. A look of understanding crossed her features as she caught sight of Lafe. "Prana, why don't you go say hi." She said deliberately, placing her hand square between Prana's shoulderblades and unshering her forward a few paces. "Here." She placed a tupperware container full of sliced avocados in Prana's hand. "Maybe he's hungry, Why don't you go share?" Prana glanced up at Faevan nervously, her hands trembling a little. But she nodded, and slowly, she made her way closer to the other child.

Lafe's ears perked up at the sound of voices and then the scent in the air. It was one that he could only vaguely remember. There was an edge to it, fear as his instincts told him. Silver-blue eyes watched Prana from the doorway, trying to peek around Wren when she was briefly out of sight. There was a small half-smile on his face, tail swishing a bit slowly. Part of him was curious why she smelled of fear.

"... and it looks like company," Wren said, watching Lafe carefully and straightening up. He turned around to face both Prana and Faevan with a smile. "I believe I've run into you once before," he said with a grin, "hello to the both of you." This was the girl who was afraid of foxes, as Faevan had told him the last time they met. He took a step away from Lafe, careful for the moment and just watching the preceedings.

The pooka barely paid Wren any notice, Lafe's interest was elsewhere. After a moment of studying Prana once more, he raised his hand and opened and closed his palm in a small wave. If anything, from the smile on his face, to the posture he was keeping, he was trying to seem like something one shouldn't fear. Instinctively, part of him was trying to put Prana at ease.

Prana watched Lafe wave at her, the simple opening and closing of the hand a gesture she vaugely rembered doing herself as a child. She relaxed her posture a bit, just a little bit, at this sight. Slowly, she took a step closer, then another, then another, her eyes locked with Lafe's. Finally, when she was about five feet from the other child, she sat down. Prying the lid off the food, she placed the tupperware on the ground, pushing it toward Lafe so it rested between them.
"You can have some...if you want." She said, looking at Faevan for approval. Faevan nodded, crossing the room and depositing Prana's bag gently by her side before seating herself on a chair nearby Wren. Prana watched her Guardian walk away, then turned her attention back to Lafe. There was somethng about this little fox...He didn't 'feel' like Anasai, or any of the shadowy foxes she'd seen in her dreams. But he was still a fox, and they weren't to be trusted, right?

"Looks like she's still not over it yet." Faevan sighed, looking at Wren. "Lafe really is a lovely Legend. I just wish Prana could see to too. Lafe is the only one she hasn't warmed up to yet..." She looked at Prana once more, her grey eyes looking seemingly into her Legend, as if she was trying to divine her thoughts.

Lafe's head tilted to the side, his ears cocking different directions, as Prana came closer and finally sat herself down. He let out a small noise, a happy one at that, and scooted forward some. He peered up at her curiously when the tupperware was pushed closer and she spoke. Sniffing at the air once again, he found that he remembered the smell. It was ... those things that was put on the salad at home. Cautiously, he reached forward to pick up one of the avacado slices. Once he did, he gave another glance to Prana to see if it was all right. To him she was wary and uncertain, so he wasn't sure if taking something from the tupperware was good or not.

"... it takes a bit to get over a fear though," Wren murmured back to Faevan, sitting on the arm of the chair he had claimed for himself. "I'm sure, with time, she'll get over it. Lafe wouldn't do a thing to her and when she realizes that, it might just help a bit." His eyes shifted to look at Faevan briefly, a smile on his lips, before he turned back to look at Lafe.

Prana watched Lafe cautiously, but when he paused with the food, she blinked. Was he asking her permission? Very slowly, she nodded, and reached into the tupperware, taking a slice for herself. She took a bite, relaxing in the familiar flavor for a moment. Avocados were her favorite. Swallowing, she spoke. "See, they're good. You can eat it." The corner of her lips curled just the smallest bit, probably without her even knowing it. That Lafe was being careful...that was enough to lower the alert a bit.

Faevan nodded at Wren. "It just might..." She said, catching Prana's little smile and smirking herself.

The uncertain look on Lafe's face changed into a small half-smile at Prana giving her permission for him to actually take the avacado and eat. He pulled his hand back and brought it to his mouth to take a bite. It was kind of slimey, in a way, but he liked the taste of it and nibbled on the rest of the avacado slice until it was gone. His tail swished a bit, mood lightening a bit with Prana not as uneasy around him.

"She's a sweet young lady," Wren said with a small chuckle, meaning it as a compliment towards Prana's behaviour. If anything, he was a bit glad himself. Lafe was wary around most, but it seemed like he was trying to put Prana at ease and instead of the other slowly gaining his trust.

"Thank you." Faevan said, nodding her head at the compliment. "She's been through a lot. I'm suprised she's still so inquisitive and well tempered." She watched the two. "Lafe seems to be equally as sweet. You'll see, once Prana finds out his tail is fluffy and soft, she'll never want to let him go." She gave a small chuckle.

Prana watched Lafe eat, not sure what she should do now. She caught sight of his tail swishing and thought for a moment. She remembered that Waya's tail swished when he was happy. Maybe Lafe was too? Happy was always good. Her fingers began wrapping about the cord on her bag, and a wisp of a thought passed through her mind. She opened the bag, and began pulling out feathers, one by one, lining them up on the floor.
"The Legends gave me these." She explained abruptly.

"She's strong then, to be like that still," Wren replied, smiling easily and shifting so that he was actually properly situated in the chair. "And thanks, Lafe can be sweet." He merely chuckled, inclining his head slightly. "... though, he's a bit finicky about anyone touching his tail or ears. My other son, Mael, loves fuzzy things and ... well. You can imagine what happens when you mix a child who's forward and one who doesn't like being touched unless he wants to be."

Lafe's eyes went to the feathers on the floor that the older girl laid down. He had things like that! Were those from the ones with wings too? He patted his clothing, trying to find where it was, his feather. After a moment, he pulled his hand back and opened it up. There was a white feather in the palm of his head, surprisingly in good condition. He didn't recall who gave him the feather, but it was his, so he mimicked Prana and set it down on the floor in front of himself.

Prana looked at the white feather with a little suprise. She pointed at it slowly.
"Demare?" She asked, nudging one of her feathers closer, a white one identical to the one Lafe had shown her. Demare had given her one too. "Demare gave me this one." She pointed at hers. No matter how her mind tried to rationalize Lafe, it seemed this little Legend had the approval of her friends. Again, her guard dropped, just a bit. "Is Demare your friend too." Her fear was beginging to become replaced by curiosity, and unconsciously, she leaned closer to the fox child.

Lafe could only nod his head a little, agreeing. ( This feather wasn't from Mikhael, no, he had different feathers -- Lafe remembered seeing them. ) He nudged his feather forward a bit more, so that it was close to Prana's. His did look like hers. Making a small noise, a sign of him trying to say yes without words, he looked up at her with a small half-smile. Just a sniff of the air and his own senses told him that she was relaxing and as she did, he did too. She wasn't as scared of him, which was good. He didn't want her to be. Making another small noise, he pointed at another one of her feathers. Where'd she get the rest?

Prana followed Lafe's finger, pointing with her own.
"These are from Chesai." She pointed tot he two red and gold feathers. "And this is from Dare, it belonged to his brother." She nudged a hawk feather forward so Lafe could see. "The brown one is from Gyre, and this one," She picked up the black feather,"is from Chandra. That one is extra special. It turned black when she pulled it." She stroked the black feather gently, remembering the day it was given to her. She hadn't seen Chandra in a long time. "I don't see many of these Legends anymore." She said, idly toying with the feathers.

Lafe focused on each feather when she pointed at them, though his gaze lingered on the red and gold feathers as well as the hawk feather. Dare's name was familiar, he remember something like that being spoken by Wren. His attention focused on the black feather, as Prana ran her finger along it. Chandra he remembered and the smile on his face grew some, if only because he remembered the music the girl had played.

The tone of Prana's voice, however, made Lafe make a small whine. As if, he was trying to say '... hey, you could see them again.'

Prana looked up quickly at the whine, startles. But Lafe's face looked, almost saddeded.
"I'm ok. I just miss my friends. They all seem to go away. But I went away for a long time too, so its only fair, right?" She said, forcing a smile larger than she felt to reassure the Legend. Somewhere, in realizing she made the toddler worry, she placed her fear aside to reassure him. "They'll come back someday." She began to place the feathers safely away, but stalled when she reached Demare's feather. The two moved, and she didn't know which one was hers anymore. "Uh oh..."

Lafe's tail swished a bit slowly at first, but a bit more as Prana continued speaking. So long as she was all right, though he didn't quite believe she was all right ( and it showed in the look he ave her ) as the way her voice and smile wanted him to believe. Nodding his head a little, he watched her put up the feathers, before she paused at -- well. Lafe blinked his eyes repeatedly, the feathers did look a like, but they were moved about. ... but ... wasn't the one closest to him his? He reached forward with his hand, hovering over the feather he believed to be his. Hers ... wasn't it fluffier than his?

Prana looked at Lafe, wondering if he would recognize his own. Her hand moved toward the one he had not chosen, but hovered without touching it. Was this it? Was the other one hers. Her hand moved a bit, and she bumped Lafe's fibgers gently. Eyes wide, she pulled her hand back to her lap, looking more shocked than scared.

Lafe was pretty sure his was straight and smooth, it was why he wasn't heading towards the softer one. Maybe, if he tested the one against his cheek like he normally did he could tell the difference -- and then he suddenly pulled his hand back when Prana's hand bumped his softly. He held his hand back a moment, head tilted and curious eyes focused on Prana. It was ... all right. She just bumped him, that was all, and he was a little surprised by it. He slowly moved his hand back towards the feathers, though his eyes were on Prana and not the feathers then.

Prana simply sat frozen, pondering the breif contact. It hadn't hurt her...or so she thought. Part of her didn't want to find out, but part of her had to know...
Slowly, very slowly, she held her hand out toward Lafe, fingers outstretched, not sure what she was expecting.

Lafe paused, his hand pulling back from the feathers as Prana's hand was held out towards him. He, for a sudden change, eyed her hand warily and then looked up at her face. Silver-blues were focused on her, and it was a gaze in which Lafe was truly trying to determine if it was ... all right or not. His nose twitch and he sniffed a bit at the air, before he finally started to move again. Something told him it was a good idea to touch her hand again and slowly, cautiously, his small fingers reached out to brush against Prana's larger hand tenatively.

Prana felt the touch, scrutinizing it. It didn't hurt at all. And his hand was warm, and most of all safe. Finally, a true smile broke out on mer face, and one of her last remaining barriers melted away. Finally, she was ready to give Lafe a fair and fighting chance. In her relief, she gave a small chuckle, and with her free hand she pushed her bangs out of her eyes. She hadn't realized she'd been hiding behind her hair.

Lafe smiled, a wider smile and more than the half-smile he was all most all ways carried on his face. There was an echoing set of giggles from Lafe after Prana, and he patted her hand a bit once she seemed truly comfortable with him. Everything would be all right, he knew it, and unconsciously he was ensuring it. As wary as she felt, and the fear he had smelled earlier, the other Legend could do with a bit of good fortune in her life -- and all it took was one little pooka who wanted to see less fear and more smiles to cause it. Even if he would never consciously realize it ( and the other never know ), Lafe was tilting luck in Prana's favor.

After a moment, his hand simply resting against hers, he was peering at the size different. Everyone, it seemed like they had bigger hands than him.

At Lafe's giggles, Prana laughed agaian, feeling at ease and something else, something she couldn't quite place. She felt almost brave. Cautiously, she mover her hand, hovering it near Lafe's head. She had remembered Keita liking 'ear scritches', perhaps Lafe would too. She almost mimicked his questiong gaze, hovering her fingertips close enough to make her intentions known, but far enough away not to invade within his personal space.
"Ear scritches?" She asked quietly, explaing her actions.

Lafe went very still at the hand over his head and his head tilted up, peering at her questioningly. This time, it was a matter of him trusting her enough to scratch his ears. They were sensitive and he wasn't fond of people touching his ears ... He made a small noise, questioning still, before he tilted his head just slightly. If she let him touch her hand, then ... he could let her scratch his ears. He could trust her, he thought.

Prana gently let her fingers touch Lafe, not directly on his ears, but at the place wheer they met his scalp, running them gently along his hairline with enough pressure to be soothing, but not tickle. She let them linger for a bit, then retracted her hand back, feeling almost as if she had tamed a lion.
"You're soft." Prana said with a small smile.

Faevan caught her breath as she watched Prana play with Lafe's ears. "Well I'll be..." She breathed, her jaw hanging open in awe.

... well, that wasn't so bad. Lafe smiled faintly, making a pleased noise in his throat at the rubbing to his ears. She had soft hands and it felt nice -- it was different than he expected. He reached up with a hand, rubbing at his own ear, as if surprised himself that he had let her scratch his ear and that it felt nice. There was another faint smile on his face when she spoke.

Wren was entirely speechless. If only because, well. He couldn't remember anyone really scratching Lafe's ears besides Alejandro. The demon merely shook his head, an amused smile on his face, and no clue what to say to that. It looked like both of the legends had made a few steps forward today, so to speak. "... certainly something else," he murmured.

Prana started to giggle, but this time, her attention was not on Lafe. Closing her eyes, she grabbed at her leg, then her stomach, then her neck. Finally, a pair of little beady eyes peeked out from her collar. Swiftly, she clasped her hand about the small creatire, beaing careful so the claws on her gloves wouldn't harm it.
"This is Mouse." Prana said, opening her hand. A little mouse peered up from her palm. While Mouse and Lafe met, Prana looked about, wondering where Mouse had come from. A small trail of trinkets and beadsfrom her pouch to her pantleg had been left behind by her sneaky friend, giving away her secret hiding place. "I haven't seen her in a long time. I thought she ran away..."

Lafe squirmed back some when Prana started giggling and grabbing at herself. Just what was wrong now? And then Prana caught whatever it was and he leaned forward some to look in her opened hands. He sniffed at the air around Mouse and smiled a little. He had seen creatures like these before, Mael liked them ... This one was special to Prana though, unlike the ones Mael ended up with, and she obviously looked happy to have Mouse with her again. It was a good thing, obviously.

Prana placed Mouse up my her mouth and whispered something to the creature, and immediately, Mouse scooted back into her back, coming back out again with a little turquoise bead. Prana lowered her hand, and Mouse ran up to it, dropping the bead in her palm. Prana took it in her fingertips and held it out to Lafe.
"So I remember you're good..." She said, offering it to him.

Lafe peered curiously at the little bead, before he reached forward with his small hand to pluck the bead from Prana's fingers. It felt smooth and he let it slip from his fingers into the palm of his hand, where he pushed it around with a finger. After a quiet moment of studying the bead, he looked up at Prana and smiled at her ( his way of saying thank you ), tail swishing quickly. The bead was pretty!

Prana smiled, her eyes closing happily with the grin. Now she would remember that Lafe was good next time she saw him.

Faevan was awestruck, but not too much to notice what time it was. "I think we best be off, Prana needs to have something besides fast food for once, and if we don't get home soon I'll be too tited to cook." Faevan explained to Wren. "It was good to see you again." She gave him a smile and a wave before calling to Prana.

Prana looked at her Mum, then back at Lafe.
"You're a good fox, right?" She asked, collecting her tupperware and her bag (making sure to tuck Mouse safely inside before Faevan saw her) and standing up. With a small wave to Lafe, she turned toward her Guardinan.

"I'm proud of you Munchkin, you did good today." Prana simply gave a little nod.

Lafe plucked up his feather and carefully held onto his bead as well as he watched Prana, smile still on his face. He nodded in agreement with her words, waving in return when she did and started to move away. He felt good, very good, now. Like he had done something that he was suppose to be done.
"I need to get home too, before the wife decides to cook without me," Wren chuckled, nodding to Faevan and moving to pick up Lafe and his things. "It was good to see you two, hopefully we'll see you again." Charming smile in place, he waved to the two of them, before leaning over to pick Lafe up off of the ground. For once, Lafe held his arms up to be picked up. He wanted to go home too and let out a large yawn.

Dream Journey

More than a fox...

Prana returned home from the Legend HQ feeling an odd mixture of relief and confusion. A bit restless, she went straight to her room, closing the door behind her and settling herself squarely on her bed.
Lafe...who's a fox, but not a fox. Lafe...who's not Anasai...
The encounter played over and over in her mind. Every other Legend seemed to like him, and she even liked him, despite his beinf a fox child. So maybe there was more to Lafe than a fox? She sat bolt upright...
"There's more to it!"
Jumping up form her bed, she paced the room a bit, visually searchng her room for something, anything that would help her find the answers she needed. Her leather bag was hanging on the back of her chair, and she grabbed it, emptying it out on her bed quickly. Something useful had to be int here! She kept all her most important things in there! The feathers tumbled out first, followed by a shiny yellow crystal, a handful of turquoise beads, a white carving, a dark smooth stone and a very disgruntled Mouse. Prana picked up Mouse, tucking the creature gently in the fur around her collar before delving deeper into the items her bag held. She hadn't realized that she's been carrying so many things in her bag. Picking up each feather gently, she wrapped them into a soft leather cloth and tucked them into her top drawer between some of her socks.
"I don't need these with me all the time." She mused, returning to the bed. Mouse jumped from her shoulder, landing on the soft sheets and pilfering a bead before running off into a dark corner. "Hey, those are for friends!" Prana called after him. Mouse's beady eyes peered at her from the corner. "Fine, keep it. You're a friend too." Mouse seemed to be contented with this and disappeared again. Obviously, the beads had to stay. She picked them up, letting them drop from her palm into her bag again. Now all that remained were the stones. The bear carving was immediately placed back into the bag. As was the yellow stone Chandra had traded with her. Alone at last, the river stone sat quietly on the covers. Prana wracked her memory, trying to remember where it came from. Someone gave it to her when she was a baby. Someone dark...a baby girl.
The Legend Breena..., she remembered. Gently, she lifted the stone, feeling it in her palm. It always seemed cold, not even warming when she held it in her hands tightly for a long time.
"That's weird..." She whispered, peering closer.

Boom!

Prana started, looking up at the noise. Mouse was up on her shelf, and it looked like she had jumped on to something. Getting up again, Prana stood up on a chair, looking behind a pile of books at the object behind it. A leather drum sat forgotten, collecting dust. Mouse's tiny feet left some small prints in the thick grey particles. Gently picking the instrument up, Prana blew the dust off of it. The force of her breath made a rippling noise on the surface, and an image flashed into her mind.

Snow...everywhere snow...and darkness...

Prana blinked a few times, looking around her. Was it cold in her room? She snuggled her coat a bit tigher, wishing she had her cloak with her still. Warming slightly, she brushed the rest of the dust off with her hand, her skin scpraing against the leather, making a hollow sound.

Feathers...and friends...

She shook her head. There was something weird about this drum. It made strange things happen in her mind. She turned it over in her hands this way and that, not being able to recognize it for the life of her. Peering out her door, she found Faevan near by, typing away at the computer.

"Mum, do you know were this came from?' She asked, holding the drum out of the doorway in plain sight.

"Someone sent that to you for Christmas. I had forgotten about it. You used to pull on the feathers, so I put it away until you were old enough to use it." Faevan explained, a bit embarassed that she had forgotten about it. It was a beautiful gift, and Prana had been old enough to use it for a long time now. "Sorry Minchkin, I totally forgot about it.

"It's ok. I'm going to play it, all right Mum?" Faevan gava a nod and went back to whatever she was doing, and Prana retreated back to her room, placing the drum on her bed. Experimentally, she have it a gently tap with her fingertips.
boom...
It made a sweet sound, and echoed a bit before falling silent. The next time she tapped it twice.
boom...boom...
She liked the sound the drum made, and kept tapping those two notes, varying it a bit. She hit harder and softer until she fell into a rythm. The tones flowed forth and she closed here eyes, letting the vibrations roll through her.
BOOM boom BOOM boom...
Prana felt the noise of her room slip away under the deep tones, and the drumming was all she heard. It was almost as if she was meditating to the sound. And then subtly, without warning, the booms of the drum became a chant. PRA...na...PRA...na...
Someone was calling her. Over and over the chant called her, the pitch rising with each chant. Other drums joined in, playing beats that charmed and mingled with her own, and as suddenly as they began, all sound stopped, and Prana opened her eyes.

Dream Journey

Takoda...

A fire sat crackling softly in front of Prana. She jumped back a bit, not expecting it to be there. There had been no tell-tale light making her eyelids glow. As her eyes adjusted, she took in her surroundings. Warm light danced off the simple hide walls. Furs were bundled here and there, as well as herbs of various shapes and sizes, all tied in neat bundles and hanging off of simple wooden racks. Prana closed her eyes again, taking a deep breath and letting the scent of the smoky fire and the herbs mingle. There was somethng comforting about the scent. It reminded her of the times her Guardinan had taken her into the forest.

"She's of a kindred soul, you know?" A soft voice broke the silence.

"Who's there?" Prana called back, squinting and trying to see through the screen of smoke in front of her. A shadow moved, and she saw a hand materialize through the smoke, tanned and wrinkled. It was balled into a tight fist, but opened swiftly to throw a bundle of herbs into the fire. It roared to life, illuminating a wrinkled old man covered in furs and hide.

"Do you truly not remember me, Prana?" He chuckled, the wrinkles on his face casting odd shadows in the light. His laughing stilled, but the merriment could still be seen in his eyes where the fire reflected off the black orbs. "Ah, I see..." He shook his head, stepping closer to Prana.

Prana scooted back a step, wary of the man. "Stay back." She held out her hands in front of her. She vaugely remembered the last time she had played that drum now, and it wasn't a pleasant journey.

"Be calm, Prana. I give you my word that you are safe, and that Anisai is far from here."

"Anisai...but how could you...? She dropped her arms to her side, letting her shoulders droop with them.

"He cannot touch you here, child." He held out his hand to her, palm up expectantly. "I offer my protection."

"You're part of all of this, aren't you?" Prana asked solemnly, placing a gloved hand in his and letting him lead her around the fire. The man simply stared at her, for the first time, his eyes looking sad. Gently, he pulled her head to his shoulder, stroking her hair softly.

It's been hard for you, hasn't it? That fool of a boy..." The sigh that followed was heavy, almost defeated. "You have had no respite. And even now, after hundreds of years, he plauges you still."

Prana felt a surge of helplessness, and she felt tears falling down her cheeks. It was trus, since the day she was born into this world, the shadow of Anisai has plauged her. And the worst part was that she didn't even know who he was or why he did it. "Have I wronged him somehow? Do you know what I did?" Prana sat up, roughly scrubbing the tears from her cheeks and gripping at the old man's robes desperately. "Do you know how I can stop him? A man I knew once told me he'd teach me how to fight so I could defeat him, but he disappeared. I don't know what to do." She broke down again, the sobs shaking her body violently.

The old man picked up a soft fur hide, gently wiping Prana's tears with it. "There, there, child. No need for tears." He cooed soothingly, handing the fur to Prana so she could wipe her own cheeks.

"Thank you." Prana whispered feebly, taking the fur and buryin gher face in it. She took a deep breath, and froze as she took in the scent of the fur and dropped it like a hot coal. The fox hide sat pooled at her knees, it's very existance mocking her.

"You see why I have brought you here?" The old man began, and all traces of mirth vanished from his face. He picked up the fox fur, folding it gently and handing it forcefully back to Prana. "It's a simple fur, Prana. And Lafe is just a child." He placed his hand in the air, cutting off Prana's attempt to cut him off. "Just because I died hundreds of years ago, it does not mean I am gone. I promised you on my death bed I would be there to guide you, and I am a man of my word. You must be wary of fox magic, Prana, it's tricky and clever, and it can cloud the mind. Anisai knows this, and he's making you fearful. He wants you to be alone, like he was."

"Did...did I do something to Anisai?" Prana looked a bit fearful. She tried so hard in her life to be fair to people, and to be kind. She couldn't even imagine being malicious. And worse yet, she couldn't even begin to think that she brought the terror of Anisai onto herself.

"Sadly, yes. Anisai does blame you, more than anyone, for his situation. There is so much you don't remember, Prana."

"What did I do to him?" She wimpered feebly, suddenly feeling very small, and very scared.

"You betrayed him."

Prana began to cry again, and no amount of soothing could stop her this time. The old man simply let her cry herself out onto his shoulder, placing a comforting hand on her back until she was able to speak again. "Was I that terrible?" She asked, sniffling.

"On the contraty, it was Anisai who was terrible. But he wasn't always that way." The man stood, reaching for a hollowed out tortosie shell and shuffling about the room, collecting some dried herbs, and returned to Prana's side. He lifted her hands, placing the shell firmly in her palms.

"What is this?" She asked, her green eyes still watery.

"This will be your first medicine journey. In order to defeat Anisai, you must remember your past." He explained. Taking a hot ember from the fire, he dropped it into the shell. The contents warmed to a bright red glow, burst into a breif flurry of flames, then died into thin wisps of fragrant smoke. "Breathe it in." He chanted rythmically. "Breathe. Breathe."

Prana placed the bowl close to her face, taking a deep breath. The smoke curled into her nostrils, wafting through her. She felt the room begin to spin, and closed here eyes tightly to quell the nasuea that began to rise within her. When her stomach settled, she opened them again...

Mist was everywhere, spinning about her. Mist that smelled of herbs and earth. A scream sounded, and the mists seperated to reveal a woman near the end of a terrible labor. An elderly woman was aiding her, holding her hand and mopping her forehead. The birthing woman shreiked again, and a baby's cry joined hers.
"My baby." She wailed feebly. "Let me see my baby." Prana watched as the woman bundled the child and left the room, leaving the new mother alone. She lay there, wailing for her child, while an alarming pool of red liquid spread on the hide between her legs. Moments later, a man rushed into the room and immediately to the mother's side, placing a hand on her forehead. The woman turned glazed eyes to him.
"My baby..." She whispered. "Please?"
"Bring the child here now!" He roared, and the elderly woman appeared in the doorway, holding the screaming bundle. The man took it from her, and Prana recognized him as the man she sat with now, only much younger. He took the baby, handling it much more carefully than the elderly woman had, and placed it into it's mother's arms.
"Ahhh, my baby!" She stilled immediately, gently stroking the child's face. The baby quelled, and the woman spoke her last words to the child. "Be a good, strong boy, Anisai." Her arms grew limp around the child, and the man collected it again.
"Who will claim this child?" He asked the woman. She simply scowled at him. "Very well." The man bowed his head, brushing by the woman and leaving the room.

"Breathe...breathe...breathe..." Prana closed her eyes again, and listened to the voices within the mists.

"Miserable b*****d"
"He's not even of our people."
"I don't know what Takoda was thinking, taking in that boy."
"Well, his mother wan't the picky sort, if you know what I mean."
"He's a disgrace to our tribe."

A small voice started to cry...

"He'll never amount to anything."

Prana opened her eyes to see a small boy sitting on a pile of furs, looking quite angry. Takoda, the man Prana knew, was sitting opposite him, sipping a cup of tea calmly and listening to the boy.
"Why do they have to come?" The boy yelled, face red. "It's my birthright! I'm your son!"
Takoda calmly placed his cup down, swallowing his mouthful and looking directly at the boy.
"You are not my son by blood, Anisai. I can't compromise the good of the tribe simply because you are in my care." He explained gently.
"But I can do it! I already know more than those stupid kids!" He crossed his arms defiantly.
"They have a right to learn too. They all show enormous potential, and could be useful to other tribes, if not to ours. I do not make these decisions lightly, Anisai." Takoda shook his head. He had had this conversation before, and he know it wasn't going anywhere.
"Then send them to other tribes!" Anisai raged, kicking over Takoda's tea.
"This is the last time I have this discussion with you." Takoda leaned over, cleaning up his tea and leaving the tent.
"You'll see." Anisai fumed silently. "I'll
make you choose me in the end."

"Prana?' Takoda called softly, watching Prana's still body as she traveled. "That's enough for today. Come back to me now."

Prana heard Takoda calling her, and closed her eyes, letting the swirling feeling pass and opening them to the ashes within the shell she held. It was hot, and she dropped it, spilling the ashes onto the earth below her. "I'm sorry." She moved to pick them up, but Takoda stopped her.

"There is much the earth can tell us." He leaned over to examine the ashes, and gently, but purposely, nudged them with a gnarled fingertip. He smiled at whatever he saw in the ashes, and retrieved a small leather pouch out of his robes, scooping the ashes into them. When it was neatly tied off, he handed the pouch to Prana. "Burn these in a fire to bring relief to one who needs it." He instructed cryptically.

Prana accepted the bag, turning it over in her hands before placing it safely in her own pouch. She looked back up at Takoda for a moment before daring to speak again.
"Takoda, you trained me all those years ago, didn't you?" She looked at the ancient man, feeling a sense of familiarity with the man.

Takoda nodded his head.
"Indeed I did. I trained you, and several others in the ways of the earth. But the Great Bear Spirit trained you in the ways of the healing arts.

"The Great Bear Spirit." Prana repeated the name, remembering a glimmer of something. Something important.

Yes, but that is a story for another day. We've learned about the past, now we must apply it to the present."

Dream Journey

Feathers...

Prana exited the tent through a flap she hadn't seen before, shielding her eyes against the brilliant sunset that greeted her. Takoda placed an aged hand on her shoulder, steadying her and leading her to a small bench in front of a small fire. He sat beside her for a moment, silent and still. Together they watched the sun set below the treetops and meditated as the world plunged into darkness.

"It is time." Takoda stood, stretching his ancient bones in front of the dwindling fire. Reaching into his furs, he pulled out a small pouch with one hand, while gesturing to Prana with another. She turned her large green eyes on him, rising and joining his side silently. "Here, cast this upon the flames." Takoda placed a pile of dried herbs into Prana's gloved hand. She felt her hands burn, and brown markings appeared on her palms. "A reminder. Now place them into the flames." Prana nodded, tossing the sharp smelling plants onto the dying embers. In an instant, they burst into a roaring blaze, sparks cascading into the velvet darkness. They seemed to linger there, and Prana watched them become stars within the sky. "To bring the spirits." Takoda explained. "They will come to you now."

Prana looked quizzically at Takoda, and then back at the flames. When she looked for the shaman again, he was standing behind the bench, waiting for her. She sat, and felt Takoda place a heavy fur onto her shoulders. It smelled of sage and smoke, and the weight made her drowsy. Eyes half lidded, she simply watched the fire crackle and climb higher and higher. What seemed like days and no time at all passed, and then the realization that she was not alone crept over Prana. All around her she felt it, the presence of everyone she had ever met. Of everyone who had ever touched her in her present life. On her shoulder, she felt the touch of Chandra In her ears, she heard the tones of Dare's guitar. She felt the weight of Guinny on her lap, and the gently touch of Paestri on her nose. She caught the scent of Waya on the air, and feel the softness of the fawns on her fingertips. She could feel the softness of Lafe's tail brushing against her ankle, and hear the softness of Mikhael's breathing. The wind from Chesai's wings moved her hair. Bowen's arms comforted her as they did as an infant. Breena's cold touch brushed her ankle. Demare simply sat in her presence, and Karan's voice cooed softly in her ear. She was overwhelmed by the sensations, feeling every word they had ever spoken to her in tangible form. Like the feathers they had bestowed upon her, she felt them all cradle her in velvety softness. And then they were gone, making way for the final visitor. Prana opened her eyes to catch the last wisp of smock recede into the flames, only to reappear again. A small woman stood there, old and bent, but her eyes full of life. She didn't speak, but stepped gracefully from the flamed, her feet springing life in the sand as they touched the earth. She took Takoda's place behind her, running her gnarled fingers through Prana's hair. Prana's eyes closed under the soothing touch and she allowed herself to rest within the comfort. Deftly, those gnarled fingers began to weave, and Prana felt the gentle pulls and the woman braided unknown objects into her hair. Finishing her task, the woman returned within her line of sight, kneeling before her. She reached within her heavy fur garment, pulling out a large bundle wrapped in hide. With a smile, she patted Prana's cheek, returning once more to the fire. Prana watched as she dissipated back into vapor, startling as the woman's eyes twinkled a startling green. The green of her own eyes. And as simply as that, she was gone.

"And that is your first lesson." Takoda smiled at her, standing her up as he took the bundle from her. "You were right in your assumption. These are your items." He tucked the bundle in an ornate bag, along with several other small bags. "Keep them well, and keep them safe.

Prana looked at Takoda, feeling that he was somehow fading away from her. "Will I see you again?"

"The way is there." He pointed toward the bag within her grasp. "But it is up to you to find it.”Should you choose to return, then you surely will."

Prana bowed her head reverently, and she felt Takoda's touch on her head softly. Then there was nothing, just the soft grey mist that she had felt before during her journey.

Bang...bang...bang...

The drum, the drum called to her.

Tum tum tum, rum tum tum...

Closer. Prana followed the sound out of the mist, watching herself playing, transfixed by the sound. She was afraid. Afraid it would all be a dream when she woke.

"You will take with you what you choose to take."

"My choice." Prana clutched her bag tightly against her chest, closing her eyes and rushing back toward herself.

Dream Journey

To return...

Prana sat bolt upright as she returned, opening her eyes to the familiar sight of her room. With a gasp, she leaned forward, bracing herself over her drum and remembering everything that had just transpired. She rose a hand to her head, brushing it though her hair. Her fingertips stilled as they touched something soft.
"Hmmm?" Prana captured the alien object between her fingertips. A black feather hung there, woven tightly and securely into her hair. She reached back up, grasping another. There was Demare's feather. And Chesai's too! Standing up, she rushed to a mirror.
The girl in the reflection stood with her mouth agape. Draped in a fur Prana had never seen before, her hair hung loose, falling about her shoulders. Turning her hair this way and that, she found that her entire feather collection was braided into her hair in little braids that were hidden among the loose strands, cascading down her raven hair like they were simply sprouting from her natrually, Save for one feather. A dusty brown feather hung from a thick braid to the right of her face, in front of her ear. Prana placed her fingertips to it gently, bringing it to her cheek. She took in the scent clinging to the plume and smiled.
"Takoda." Opening her eyes, she was met not with her own reflection, but with that of the wise Shaman. He held in his hands the parcel that Prana's past incantation had gifted to her earlier, and Prana looked down into her own hands to find it resting there. When she looked up again, Takoda was gone.
Prana returend to her bed again, placing the leather bound thing in the center of the spread. Gently, she settled herself in front of it, her legs crossed up under her, letting her fingers trace the leather cords for a moment before working them loose. The leather fell away, revealing a bag, a bag crafted from the pelt of a fox. The object didn't startle Prana, but facinated her instead. The head of the creature was bent over, a bead in it's mouth securing it to the chest to keep it closed. The front paws were sewn together, giving the appearance of prayer, while the back legs simply hung free, as did the tail. Turning it over, Prana found several straps threaded through the back, meant to secure the pouch to a belt. She turned it to face her again, running her fingertips cautiously through the thick reddish fur, up toward the bead that held the bag closed. For a moment, she paused as if the fox, long since dead, would bite her fingertips off, but with a quick flick, the bead fell away from it's clousre, and Prana pushed the head back to find the opening in the bag, and began to pull out the contents within.
Small leather pouches came out, one by one, each issuing the scent of a different dried plant. Prana recognized the scent of sage, and of the concoction that Takoda has used to make the spirits come forth from the fire, but several brightly dyed pouches had her utterly confused. She placed them aside for later contemplation, delving deeper into the bag. Several soft hides emerged, all folded neatly. When unwrapped, Prana found each one to contain a diferent symbol. And beneath those, Prana found an item that made her catch her breath. She pulled out the string gently, marveling at the necklace. Several bear claws and a handful of sharp teeth graced the leather thong. It seemed to delicate and powerful at the same time. She wondered who it had belonged to before it came to be resting in her hands.
A knock at the doot startled her out of her thoughts, and she didn't have time to hide her newly acquired gift before the door craked upen, and light poured though.

"Prana?" Faevan called, peeping her head through the opening int he door. It had gotten quiet, and she had only intended in tucking Prana in had she fallen asleep. But apparently, her Legend was quite awake. "Can I come in?"

Prana nodded, scooting over to make room fro her Guardian on the bed next to her.

Faevan started to sit, but stopped for a moment to look at Prana's hair. "Did you do that?" She marveled, taking a braid in her fingers and examining it gently. "It looks beautiful. You look so grown up." Faevan smiled softly. Prana did indeed look different. Usually, she was covered with her fuzzy bear items. Soft hats wih little ears. Big fuzzy gloves, and furry capes. She didn't necessarilly look silly in these garments, but they coveres so much of her that Faevan had vere truly realized how much Prana had grown. She sat there now, simply wearing her sweater and vest with a pair of bleached leather pants. Her feet and hands were bare, and for the first time in a while her head was uncovered. She wondered what the other Legends would think of the change, if it was even a change at all.

Prana looked quickly at the mirror, as if Takoda would appear and explain her hair for her, because for the first time in her life, Prana didn't know how to answer her Guardian. But remembering Takoda also prompted her to remember his lessons, and bizarre as it would sound, the truth was always the way. "No. Someone did it for me."Prana whispered, fidgeting with the necklace.
Faevan cocked her head to the side for a moment, wondering who could have done that to Prana's hair in the hour she had been in her room. But she thought back, back to the first time she had ever seen a Legend. And to the time Prana's arm was injured. Sometimes she forgot how magical they truly were. With a shrug, she figured it was better to accept it than question it. "Ok."

"Ok?" Prana echoed. "You believe me?" She looked amazed.

"Of course I do, Prana." Faeva pulled her close, hugging the girl. "I knew the day I brought you home that you would be a special child, and you have never lied to me. If you say someone else did this," she flicked the feather by Prana's temple gently for emphasis, "then I believe you." She stood to leave the room, walking toward the door to give Prana her privacy. Something prompted her to stop, however, abd she turned back to the Legend. "You know, prana. I know I'm not a Legend, and that I'm extremely average as far as Gaians go. I don't have wings or magic, and I can't transform or do anyhting special..." Faevan looked a bit sad fro amoment, as if she was remembering something far away. "But I can always listen to you it you need to talk, ok?" She smiled warmly before exiting the room.

"Mum?" Prana called after the woman.

Faevan poked her head back though the door. "What's up, munchkin?"

Prana took a deep breath. "Can I show you something?" She held out the fox fur bag, her eyes large and imploring.

"Of course." Faevan re-entered the room, settling down on the bed beside Prana.

Faevan's Journal
I spent a good part of the evening talking with Prana. I don't know what to think at the moment. Who is this person, this Takoda that she speaks about? And this fox demon Anasai? The fox mystery that's been plauging Prana her whole life, it finally has an explination or sorts. I just wish I had known sooner. Prana says she doesn't remember much. Just that she and Anasai grew up together, and that her had hurt her then, and has continued to hurt her though the ages. Which means she has been reborn more than once. And this Takoda person is apparently a Shaman, and taught the first Prana how to use herbs and magic. And it seems that he's given her some to learn to use again. I have to say that truthfully, I'm extremely worried about them. I recognize a few, and they're harmless enough, but some of the others baffle me. Prana at least agreed to let me take a few to a freind to have them analyzed. That relieves me some. My biggest source of unrest now is that I can't meet these people. At least, Prana doesn't know how I can. And yet for all of our lack of connection, these people know me. Prana said that Takoda spoke of me in that dream or journey that she had. That he said I could help her understand things. Me? I'm just a normal person. How can I begin to deal with these things? How do the other guardinas do it? I must seem so simple and rediculous to the Legends, and to Prana.

I'll be there for her though, for whatever she needs. Who am I to let her down when that's all I can offer?

Faevan picked the letter up on the doorstep on the way out, turning it over in her hands before looking at the child clinging to the edge of her coat.

Prana cast her green eyes up at Faevan and the Guardian handed the letter down her. She looked at it quickly before jamming it in her pocket and looking back up at Faevan.

"Do you have to go?" She asked Faevan, her grip on Fae's sleeve tightening. "I don't want you to go."

"Oh, Munchkin." Faevan sighed, affectionately toying with the braids in Prana's hair, a feather sliding through her fingers. "It can't be helped. I need to go away for a while, just a short while. Once I take care of things I'll be back, you'll see. Besides, won't it be fun to visit with Auntie DS and Karan?"

Prana gave a half hearted nod, and the two made their way to the car, Faevan making sure Prana was secure before getting in herself. They drove in agonizing silence until the car came to a halt in front of Ds's house.

"Will there be room for me?" prana asked quietly, looking down at her gloved hands. "I know Auntie DS has a big family." Despite her best efforts, a tear ran down her cheek.

Faevan, unable to hold her tears back any longer, reacked ober, hugging Prana to her. "Oh poppet, of course there'll be room. And I'm coming back, I promise! I promise!" Her tears fell onto Prana's hair softly, and she pulled back, violently rubbing her cheeks and trying to compose herself. "I promise, ok?"

Prana nodded, drying her own tears. "Ok." She reaffirmed, unbuckling her seatbelt and getting out of the car. A moment later they were standing on the doorstep, fingers poised over the bell.

"We're going to be a real family one of these days, Prana. I promise."

((Nearing the end of my hiatus, but this is an official turning over post for Prana into DS's care until I can get back to rping her properly.))
