It failed, and it brought Efreet close enough to swing an arm at her, throwing her into the far pillar.
"Why are you back, moon girl? Was one lesson not enough to teach you?"
His taunts echoed through the rumbling mountain, but Rosel paid no heed. Her anger was enough as it was, and instead of shoving it away, she let it rise, and her next lightning bolt was intertwined with black.

He dodged just enough out of the way, and heaved his fist into her. Her breath escaped, but her will stayed. The fist withdrew for another attack, and the moment her breath returned, she cast her lightning again, this time almost covered in her chaos.

It was just a hair too high and Efreet's wicked grin taunted her even through the pain of yet another swing into her stomach. A sour taste spring into her mouth and she coughed. But there was no time for anything more. Efreet withdrew again for a third attack and Rosel heaved more lightning from the depths of her being. But there was little chaos behind it now. She was getting tired.

She felt her own exhaustion and hated herself for it. Only a few hits and she was ready to give up? As the next blow came down, she twisted away so it landed on her less injured side, letting her keep her breath for another attack.
The spell came in a scream of defiance, she leaned from the wall toward Efreet, the anger bursting from her with the chaos that almost completely engulfed her lightning bolt.

The bolt hit him square in the chest and he stumbled back, fist coming down from it's position to strike her. Rosel was halfway through calling another attack when he held his massive claws up between them.
"That is enough. You have come to me twice looking for my blessing, and you have now earned it." He straightened and looked down on her from his towering height. "Take my charm, and with it your anger and your chaos, and go into the world." He held his fist to his heart, crossing the blackened wound her chaos had made, and extended his hand to her. Dumbly, she opened her hands to him and he dropped a small charm into them, a warm gold symbol of a flaming heart.
The rumbling of the mountain fell between them and Rosel felt fairly ridiculous very suddenly. Is this what she came for? A charm? She closed her hands around it and looked up at him through her hair. His eyes were a challenge, to fight him again until he killed her. But the exhaustion was setting in and she lowered her eyes. She just wasn't strong enough.
Yet. She promised herself as Efreet disappeared into the depths of his sanctum and she began her climb back to the world below.
