(( Private RP for Kali, Dubettou and Sosi. ))Young Zayn (official Paperness)Older Zayn (Khel sketchness)(( Okay, this RP will be set in the Inn in the grove. Tis open to any characters who think they can get there. The location isn't to be confused with the Pala/Elderspark shop setting, though. Pic of grove above.
The Inn has three levels. Bottom is sign in / reception, bar and food area, and general stuff. Second level is the available rooms. Third level is where Zayn and his menagerie live.
Please to be posting a link to your char if it's not in your sig, just so we're describing each other properly! n.n And also so we can ogle Paper!arts X3 ))It had been a long trip this time. Zayn had held out longer than he had since the first encounter with Xanatos and the Crystals, when the bond to Xan had briefly been stronger than the bond to the tiny part of Sabilasi left to him. The itch had gotten too much for him, just as the itch to explore eventually set upon him here. But it wasn't a bad way to live, to explore the world and have somewhere to come home to.
And several someones, he added to that, shooing the familiars upstairs. They were likely more tired than he was, but Zayn wasn't going anywhere without checking over the place... and getting some properly cooked food. Meals on the road were not fine cuisine in the least.
Leaving the fromt door to the inn open - an indication that someone was home and the inn was in business again for a period - Zayn headed into the kitchen in the main dining area. His last pack was with him, filled with fresh food supplies from Durem. He'd learned his lesson after returning home to spoiled milk and mouldy food the first few times.
Stretching his arms and wings, Zayn pondered the ingredients he had. Fresh bread would be nice... with meat and cheese and herbs added halfway through cooking. Humming to himself, the Ieldi rolled up his sleeves and set to his task.

Black Duvet ((HERE IS KOKORO. he is um referenceless but he is very short and skinny and teenaged. and based off a blue-throated hummingbird.)) Yawning widely, Kokoro sat on the wooden platform jutting out of the great tree and contemplated the world around him. Even while Durem was cold and covered in ice, Sabilasi was always warm and comfortable... weird. Picking his teeth offhandedly, his eyes strayed downward. Man, it was nice living alone. The inside of 'his' house was, of course, covered in underwear and candy bar wrappers - as it should be. Enlil was there with him too, of course, the Pala refused to stray from a three-foot radius of him now... He didn't eat much, so that much at least was good, it'd be pretty tragic if Kokoro actually had to get a job - - Was someone down there? Befuddled, he turned to his brain for guidance. Well, not anybody could get in here. Right? Right. And it's not like if they knew what this place was they'd be up to anything bad. Right? Right. And maybe they were lost. And needed help. Or maybe they had food. Yeah. Food. Stretching and flexing his back muscles, he leapt from the platform and was airborne immediately. Enlil squeaked in alarm and began to fly after him as he navigated himself to a few feet away from the Inn's front door. "Who's there?" He asked suspiciously, finally getting it in his head that maybe he should be on his guard. As Kokoro was attempting to adjust himself into his "Don't mess with me (please)" position, Enlil collided heavily with his head. "Ow! Watch it," he whined, rubbing his head with one hand and flicking at the Pala with the other. Well, there went his toughness. Hopefully whoever was there was stupid enough to fall for it... for now. Someone was cooking something. Earth logic was suspended.

For her part, Odilen was surprised to see the inn door open as she stepped through the portal into Sabilasi. The place was... not home, and yet it was. Even though this had been a piece of her true homeworld, a glorious reality compared to Old Kyendi, the tree standing with more height and power than Kyendi's tree ever had - in her mind, Kyendi was the original, and this the copy.
But even in her wanderings, she had to come back, if only to lay flowers on her mother's grave. Still, the sight of the inn door snapped her out of the solemn mood, and the swan Ieldi approached with interest. Most of the menagerie had remained back in the wagon outside of Durem; only Artemecion accompanied her, and he was uncharacteristically quiet because of her own still thoughts.
"Hello?" she called out as she poked her head in the door, wondering who was about - though she let one hand stray down to the fanblades tucked in her belt next to her pencil pouch, just in case something that shouldn't be here had snuck in.

"Ah?" Zayn glanced up up as he heard voices from either outside or just at the front door. In his distraction he didn't notice the knife he was using to chop meat and cheese come down on a finger.
"AAAARGH!" A scream only a half-note away from a girl's resounded through the Inn.
Zayn grabbed for a nearby towel, pressing it down over the cut. Whimpering in pain, he hopped around the kitchen, a few feathers falling from his wings as shock hit him. From up on the hanging light, Xan looked down upon the blood with interest.
... Rght, this was why Zayn normally stuck with campfire food.

First reaction: Squawk from shock. How embarrassing -
Second reaction: FREAK OUT.
Okay, said Kokoro's brain, there's strangers, you're in your boxers in front of a girl and someone just cut themselves with a knife.
I don't think I like knives.
No. No you don't.
He hardly noticed Enlil diving behind the counter before he was frantically running his hands through his hair, making it stick up even more. "Stop, drop and roll - no, that's for something else -" First aid kid? Was there even one up here?
Oh boy. Ohhhhh boy.
"Card tricks!" He squeaked finally and pulled a deck from his pocket, shuffling the cards rapidly. "What kind do you like?!"
Yes. Yes. This would have to do.

A jolt went down Odilen's spine as she heard the scream - it sounded familiar. "Zayn?!" she cried out, pulling the fanblades out of her belt and spreading them with a flick of her wrist before charging recklessly into the inn. She vaulted a table that was in her way with the practiced grace of a dancer, dodged a few chairs, and shoved the kitchen door open with force, brandishing the fanblades in her right hand -
- Only to see Zayn hopping around the kitchen with a dish towel on his hand, and an unfamiliar twiggy figure fanning playing cards in his general direction.
"... The hell?"

Zayn was highly shocked to see an unfamiliar Ieldi step through the door ... and then ask about card tricks. Not far behind the stranger came Odilen, brandishing more knives.
"Fantastic," he groaned. "Didn't our race breed us for any sense? I'm bleeding and I get offered cards and knives..." He flicked his eyes up to the lurking Xanatos. "And you don't even know any healing spells, do you?"
The mini Diablos just crooned to the blood spilt on the counter. Narrowing his eyes, Xan swooped -- to be met with a twack from the cloth around Zayn's hand.
"Ack, no!" Zayn shrieked. "If I let you get a taste for blood, next thing I know you'll be eating me in my sleep."
Xan shifted his eyes back and forth.
"Out!" Zayn yelled and the small monster shrugged and took off, swooping over the guests before darting upstairs. The Ieldi shot a faint smile at the other two avians. "Uh, hi. Anyone decent with bandaging?" One foot kicked lightly at a cupboard door under the sink, where the first aid kit was kept.

"No," Kokoro announced immediately, continuing to shuffle the cards... But caught sight of Odilen's weapons and promptly dropped them all. With a tiny little "oh crap" he crawled behind the counter to cower with his Pala companion.
Enlil, curled up next to a mug, frowned at the sight of his owner and patted him on the nose reassuringly. "Saneris," He cooed.
"Shet up," Kokoro grumbled and moved on to attempting to shove himself into a cupboard.

Odilen shook her head, and bit her lip to keep from laughing - the situation was just too absurd. She quickly closed and sheathed the fanblades, then ducked down a bit as Xanatos swooped about. "Easy, Xan... do you remember me?" she murmured at the Elysian, before flashing a tentative smile at Kokoro and turning to Zayn. "Long time no see. What did you do to yourself this time?" she asked the other Ieldi wryly, bending down to get the first aid kit out. "And why did you scream like the armies of the Sultan Dzer Jamat were after you, with all his five thousand undead?"

"Uh, I was surprised?" Zayn's golden cheeks turned to pale rose. Intruders and sharp cooking knives and strange new Ieldi when he thought he'd met them all... Screaming in front of Odilen, though, how embarassing. Not the image of himself he wanted her to see.
"So, uh, five thousand undead?" he changed the subject, also giving himself something else to concentrate on. "You'll have to tell me the story some time. Sounds like you must have travelled someplace very interesting to get that one."
While waiting for Odilen to get the first aid kit, Zayn looked around for the missing Ieldi. "You can come out," he called. He'd been surprised to see Odilen wielding knives, too. "Odilen wouldn't actually hurt another of the Kin. Speaking of, who are you? I thought we'd run into most of the other Ieldi by now... Oh!" he flushed again. "I'm Zayn. I kinda live here, and run the Inn whiile I'm around."

Breathe. Breathe. It was fine. It was going to be fine...
Slowly peeking over the edge of the counter, he slowly rose up enough that he could see and tapped his fingers nervously on the wood. "I am uh Kokoro." Tappity tap tap. "Uh. I. I haven't met you before." Tap tap tappity. "I live in the tree."
He exhaled sharply through his nose. Well, it was the best he could manage, so it would have to do. Fellow Ieldi or no, he didn't really appreciate them suddenly popping up in what he had declared his personal man-zone, especially when they had knives and. He was hungry.
Trying to be discreet, he half-glanced at Zayn's groceries. The corner of his mouth twitched, and he looked back.
Enlil, curious about the newcomers, began to clamber his way up onto his companion's shoulders and up into his hair, peeking out from between stray strands. Kokoro frowned and went cross-eyed in an attempt to stare him down.

"For that one? Into a tomb, as it happens - but that's a story for later," Odilen told Zayn, with a grin. She had missed him, she realized... but that was also for later, because otherwise she'd end up completely ignoring this new child of the Kin.
Odilen turned and focused on Kokoro, giving him a tentative smile. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you - I just thought from the yelling that something terrible had happened. My name's Odilen Swandancer, the famous bard," she added, holding her chin a little higher in pride at the name. The 'famous' epithet was... somewhat more true now than it had been a few months ago. Not by much, true, but a little.

"Oh?" Zayn perked up at the mention of the tree. "I was meant to be up there somewhere, far too high in the stratosphere for my tastes... I didn't realise any of the 'shelves' were still inhabited, though."
He peered at the hummingbird teen curiously. If the age hadn't made it apparent that he was born much later than Odilen and Zayn, the fact that he was living in a mostly-abandoned Tree did.
Finger safely banadaged, Zayn turned back to his cooking. A heavenly scent wafted out of the oven as he opened the door, and cheese and herbs were sprinkled over the rising bread. Straightening, he gave his guests a smile. "Well, if you're feeling hungry, we should be able to have fresh bread with cheese and cold meat in a short while..."
He wasn't the best cook in the world. But if the other Ieldi had gone as long between meals or on camp food as he had, it would be ambrosia for them as well.

Kokoro simply mumbled something in response - he would have been a little more courteous but he smelled food and it was good. "How long will it be?" He asked immediately, drumming his fingers on the countertop once again. Enlil was curious about it as well - hesitantly he fluttered his wings and flew from his master's head to some space away from his fingers, peering at the oven.
