She turned and gazed at his form, dappled with a pool of moonlight that danced along his back. It caught in his eyes too, illuminating them with a strange glow that seemed to absorb her in. The moon had a way of making everything seem unnatural, magically so. She smiled softly and nodded.
Love makes fools of us all. She replied, but we are survivors, and sometimes a fall can make us stronger...if we pick ourselves up. She added hastily.
Just ahead the skeletal trees gave way, revealing the 'stage' to their eyes. The snow-covered grass gave way to a great rock that haad been melted into the side of the gorge as if carved by a great and powerful beast. She drew closer to it and the moment her paws stepped onto it's frosted surface she knew this was the time.
But what happens... She whispered, staring up into the moon as if her answers could be found there. What happens when they die? By they she meant human, for they were so different from wolves. Would they run amongst the stars? Would they howl with the wind? Would they mingle and become a part of the forest itself? No...they were not creatures of the forest...they were of something else.
I must accept that I failed, I must try and find a new purpose. She continued, but in this world I know nothing more than guarding...protecting. That is why I must find a pack, to protect them. It is my only hope in finding why I am still alive...my only hope in finding a purpose.
And she turned to him with wide eyes that seemed to say, are you ready to sing?

Above them, the heavens sparkled with a pure, brilliant radiance within the deepened blue hues of the skies were encrusted with priceless, flawless stars. To make the presentation even more spectacular as the heavens were clear from any clouds, a full moon loomed within the air as it's rays doused upon the land as well as upon both Tainn and Cael.
He nodded his head, sea green eyes intaking the immaculate light from above and displaying a lustor and almost mysterious gleam to abide within them. "Yes," he commented, "and sometimes we need to fall- to fail or stumble, to learn from our mistakes or to strengthen our character. But it's not easy and it's not painless."
As the wolfess spoke, Cael looked up towards the moon as she inquired about the dead. Where did they go? His mind tried to interpret and make sense of his knowledge and the best answer he could. "Some believe that those who pass on go to a place called "Paradise", some believe the soul is captive here on earth and they are those who the Seer's and Shaman communicate with. No one knows for sure but perhaps they lay to rest within the heavens or become like the earth?"
"You're looking for a pack?" He repeated, hoping to have made sense and had heard her correctly.
But before he could go on, his heart yearned to sing and that was something that he couldn't barracade within his heart and soul no longer. Nodding his head, Cael waited for her signal.
He would most certainly try to bring up the subject again.

She knew that the time for talking was up - for now atleast. Especially when there gleamed that desire in his eyes, that desire to sing and release everything. She quivered slightly as she thought of flying free, without worries or pain.
Perhaps that was what death was.
Perhaps it was whatever you wanted it to be.
And as she straightened and raised her muzzle to the celestial beauty that lay stretched out endless above her she knew it was now or never. The time was perfect. And as she opened her maw to sing she summoned everything she had, all the love she had felt for her human alpha and all the grief at having lost her. The pain at having failed and being cursed to walk alone. She hungered for companionship, for something more to life. She realeased it all, pushed it from her wounded heart.
And as the song rumbled up from her throat like the steady wave of thunder, one could hear the emotion building, surging it and shoving it into being.
The strength gathered, the song swelled and as she raised her nose higher - as if to touch the sky - the howl reached it's peak, sweeping out across the forest like a shockwave.
Free.
She was free.

As Tainn released her souls solace to the moon, the heavens and the scattered stars above, Cael stepped forwards and placed his paws upon the small ledge of the rockface.
His fur bristled on end as the beauty of her song rose high, its cry sweeping across the valley and throughout the mountains as it was hard to supress the chills that surged down his back. With his ears perking upwards as his eyes falling single towards the moon and all of her radiant beauty, Cael took a deep breath and closed his eye for a few moment. Conjuring all of his strength, awakening all of the emotions that laid restless within his soul, the purple and black hued wolf suddenly threw back his head and unleashed the pains and all of his emotions that had, for so long, barracaded within his heart.
It was a song; a song of remorse, of sorrow, sadness. But aside from the past of of the darkness, his song spoke of hope, the future and of the unknown.
He could feel it; its energy, its strength as it cut through the stillness of the night and broke through the silence. Along with the howl of the wolfess, their solacing cries together created a duo of sound where, if one was to partake of their songs of the heart, shivers would no doubt plauge their body and a fear would certainly feel as if it would consume their hearts.
At last.
He was singing and letting his heart be free once again.

And as his song rose to twine with her own, time seemed to slow to a halt. The breeze fell still and the trees that had rustled so beautifully froze in place. The night seemed to take a step back and every creature seemed to pause to listen.
For this was the song of nature and it alone seemed to hold a power, a true magic that none could ignore.
It was haunting, it was sorrowful and it was hopeful, it was pure emotion itself, and none but the wolf could sing it.
Her heart poured into that note, strengthening it beyond what Tainn ever thought possible. Then as she felt the muscles in her neck tug under the strain of having her nose so high she let the note trail off. As she did so everything began to return to normal. The trees began their excited whispering and the sound of a trickling stream babbled contentedly. And as the silver wolfess lowered her head, the howl now a whisper...
Now gone.
She stood motionless, staring across the land but not seeing anything. She was waiting, waiting for her friend to finish. And then?
Well atleast her soul felt lighter now.

With the final chord strung out as he closed his maw and perked his ears forward, Cael's composure and burdens that had, for so long, plauged his body and had tormented his emotions felt lighter- the sensation as he he had lost weight and one that felt as if he was to run that his stamina could endure to the end of wherever his paws would take him.
The last of his song echoed across the valley, through the rugged mountains and- silence was restored to the night once again.
Shaking his head slightly and leveling his eyes to those of the wolfess, the purple and black hued wolf gave a warm, kind smile that spread far across his maw. "That- that felt really good," he commented, his eyes kindling with their typical brightness of optimisim and hope for the first time in weeks. His tail swayed in an upbeat manner, wagging quick as he gave a small, sheepish smile.
"Your song was quite lovely. Thank you Tainn, thank you for asking me to sing with you this night. I can feel it- I can feel my soul awakening once again and rejuvinated." His ears fell bashfully against his skull as he pivoted about from the outstretched rockface and settled back upon the dirth path on his haunches.
"I haven't felt this alive in a long time."

She turned to him with eyes that could be described as exotic. The tattered ear that spoke of battles long gone pinned forwards towards him and with a small nod she agreed. The slightest of smiles spread across her maw and she side-stepped neatly towards him.
If my song was lovely it was because yours accompanied it. She complimented kindly, I am glad it has helped heal the pains in your heart...I think...I think it has done the same for me, too. I feel relaxed. She moved to cirle around him as he sat, coming to find a seat beside him. Her tail thumped a gentle rhythm on the ground and her gentle panting filled the night air with puffs of steam.
Where will you head to now Cael? She asked, I hope you will not choose to wander alone. It's not natural for a wolf to wander without others to protect and care for. To her anyway. The life of a lone wolf isn't a happy one, at least not for me. Again her thoughts turned back to that pack, waiting out there for her somewhere. Her heart clenched with yearning and she released a tiny whine into the night.

Sea green eyes watched her as the wolfess seemed to circle about him and sat beside him. His black lathered tail thumped non-chalantly upon the ground as, for a moment, he knitted his brows and let a warm, tender smile curl upon his maw.
"No," he softly spoke as his ears pinned against his head in a slight embarassment at her kind compliment, "together- I mean, our songs was lovely because of our inner strength that combined as one. Hearts and souls that know of great pain often sing their dreams through the mignight serenade." Chuckling a bith sheepishly as he pawed at the ground with his right foreleg, the young adult glanced towards Tainn.
"It certainly was a beautiful song to shatter night's silence."
At her question, he furrowed his brows and tilted his head lightly to the side. That was a good question- where would he go? Would he return to the pack? Cael wrinkled his muzzle as he sat in a somber silence, ears flicking upwards as, internally, he knew what he had to do although he wasn't too fond of it.
He had to settle the past and find Rage.
"I-I'm...I need to go back to my pack," he stammered, the words stumbling a bit rough off his tongue as he tried to settle his jostled nerves. "Cellen's probably worried and think I ran off again and- well, I need to come to terms with Rage sooner or later or else the pain will just continue to well inside of me an-and I can live with that." Looking upon the silvery- almost mythical wolfess before him, Cael kept a grin tucked at the corner of his maw as he began to formulate an idea.
"If you're looking for a pack, you can come back with me to the Outriders. Phib doesn't reject a soul and at least you'll have someplace to call home." Biting down on his lower lip as his ears swivled back, Cael loosened his shoulders and let his right forepaw daintily drag within the loose dirt below.
"Every wolf belongs somewhere- maybe...maybe the Outriders can be your home too?"

She was calm now, ever so calm and in her mind the past seemed almost gentle now, stroking the back of her mind like the gentle purr of a kitten. She turned to glance to the male by her side and smiled very slightly. It was nice to meet another so like her.
I heard something once, long ago, that to face ones fears will make one stronger. Perhaps by facing this one you call Rage, then you will realise that things aren't as dark as they seem. For even in the darkest of nights, the moons loom somewhere up above, behind the clouds. She tipped the stump of her tattered ear backwards as the hoot of an owl rose up above the pines.
Then as he continued, about this pack the Outriders, she tilted her head slightly. The orbs of her golden eyes glinted with moonlight and as she turned her attention towards him, looking into his strange-coloured face and into those eyes that held so much emotion within them, something clicked. She knew then that she could not follow him.
Cael... His name left her maw as a sigh and she turned away then, moonlight kissing her long, kindly snout. I wish I could say yes, I wish I could follow you...but I cannot. She rose then and sighed, almost sadly. I cannot explain it because instincts are too complicated for words, yet I feel them tugging me onwards. I have dreamt of the water that falls down the rockface and glitters in the sun like daytime stars. I look for a little pack tucked away from sight, the sound of their paws covered by the babling of a stream. She laughed then, You probably think I am quite mad, and I don't blame you. Sometimes I think I shouldn't put so much trust into my instincts but...they are strong. I can't resist it.
She blinked and turned towards him, drawing closer. The bell at her throat gave one, jingling note.
Do you understand?

His brows knitted as his black latered tail thumped upon the ground, weight shifting from his forepaws as he nodded his head. "Even in the thickest of darkness, there is always a light and even in life there are times where perhaps we are the light that another is searching for," he commented, his mind reflecting back upon the jet black wolfess. Rage was a wolf who was troubled- who struggled with inner demons and almost as if there was another that lived within her but, of course, Cael focused on trying to help her and not on her faults. The interworkings of his mind and heart continued to persuade him to return back to the Outriders and that was something, perhaps the one thing, that would help restore his heart to beat again. Cael was ready to face the darkness head on and try to save a life.
But the questioned still remained: Would Tainn go with him?
At her refusal and explaination, a sweet smile crossed his maw as he tilted his head slightly. "Mad? Never," he chuckled softly, sea green eyes holding a kindling gleam as the full moon above let its immaculate rays rain down upon them. "Sometimes the only thing we can do in life is to follow our instincts blindly and hold onto what faith we have. Follow them; don't rebuke the urgings or the yearning of your heart- you'll find what you're looking for."
Glancing back towards the trail they had traveled upon to come to the cliffsides, the purple and black hued male kept a grin tucked at the corner of his maw as his ears flickered.
"Well," he sighed softly as he looked back towards Tainn, "I'd best be off if I want to make it back to the pack by morning." Biting his lower lip as a sheepish smile crept upon his maw, Cael rose to his paws as his tail swayed gently behind him. "I know you'll find what you're looking for- just don't give up."
Slowly padding towards the mouth of the worn trail, the young adult looked back.
"Take care, Tainn."

She bowed her head low, respectfully, as the male spoke so kindly and as she raised her eyes to him she knew, somehow, they would meet again. Fate had mingled their paths once and as she listened to the whispering of the moonlight through the trees, she knew she would see his face again.
She bobbed her snout in the slightest of nods and watched him move quietly back the way he had come. A whine gathered in her throat but she held it back, standing silently as he moved away.
She wanted to say something, to thank him, to tell him how happy she was to have bumped into him. For if it had not been for him and their song, she was sure that she would have wallowed in grief for far longer.
And as he turned back, there was no need for words, because her thanks and her gratitude was written in her eyes and in the steady waving of her plumed, silver tail.
May the moon protect your path, Cael. She whispered, breath coiling up into the air. We will meet again, I promise you. And with that she whirled around on herself and tore into the opposite direction, never looking back.
Her heart sang and her mind soared and as she ran she felt as if wings would sprout from her ankles and whisk her upwards into the sky. She threw back her head as she ran and gave a long, low call.
Thank you.
She knew then that they would sing again someday.
((thank you so much for the RP Ronso! Plots will actually have Tainn heading to the Outriders at some point, so maybe our wolves can meet again <3 ))
