“Adamu, why do you look so sad? - it’s such a nice day out, let’s go do something!”

The blue eyed female questioned before giggling softly as she slowly walked along side her new friend. She had stumbled into the lands a few weeks ago, and upon her arrival had found Adamu alone and quite. He didn’t seem to be very social but he also didn’t go out of his way to be bitter toward her. He was just quite, it wasn’t something she was use to but she was willing to give him a shot. Dima didn’t judge and because of this fact she was very interested in him. He had not once spoken to her about himself, even after the few weeks they had spent together, roaming the lands.

Well, she followed him around, but still... it was time spent together right? She saw him as a friend none-the-less and because of this fact she stuck around even when he didn’t speak. Her ears drew back as she stopped herself behind Adamu. He was gazing up at the sky again and he seemed so distant to her, even though he was standing right before her the young lion was so vary far off. Lost in whatever memory of emotion he had held up inside.

She felt for him, maybe that was why she wanted to mother him from time to time. She knew that he was so very alone; he made it so that no one could get close to him. It wasn’t healthily.

With a soft smile the female spoke out again and nudged his side with her forehead.

“Adamu, lets go for a run to the water hole?”

“I don’t feel like running.”

He spoke back dully. His coffee colored eyes narrowing with a slight aggravation as he moved himself away from Dima, so that she couldn’t nuzzle her forehead against him again. He was very tired, like he was every other day, so he didn’t want to run. She would win anyway, she was a cheetah after all... the odds were against him, so why should he bother?

“I’m just too tired to run today, Dima, sorry.”

“You are always too tired.”

The female spoke back with an eye roll. He always gave her silly excuses for never doing anything with himself, soon he would run out of excuses and then he would be completely helpless and he wouldn’t have any help from anyone because he never wanted any. Sometimes talking to him was like talking to a tree… just the tree made for better conversation.

“Alright then.”

She gave in.

“What do you want to do then?”

“Mmm...”

The male paused and gazed around slowly. His eyes shifted from rock to grass and from grass to tree. Nothing seemed to stand out to him really, nothing pulled at his heart strings. Today was just another dull and pointless day, just like all the rest. As he scanned the area he moved himself around so that he now faced Dima. He stopped for a moment and gazed at her, his coffee eyes lacing along her soft blue orbs. Something about her made a smile play upon his slightly parted maw. He wasn’t good at showing his feelings, but when he did it was really a sigh to see. He had a lovely smile, one that took after his mother’s.

He gained his charm from her, before her death... and when she died all of his compassion and love seemed to die with her. Adamu was an empty shell, a walking reminder of his mother’s death. He was there that night, he was... yet he could do nothing for her... all he did was get himself lost... only to find out that while he was playing in the woods his mother had been killed, her life taken. Maybe if he had been there the killer would have stopped, maybe Ari would still be here today... if only Adamu hadn’t been so stupid... and got lost when he shouldn’t have.

His smile faded now as he let himself become overwhelmed with the sent of that night, a flashback, a reminder. He didn’t know how to express this, he couldn’t tell anyone, he couldn’t tell Dima.

Moving himself away from her again the young male sat down and panted roughly. His face looked as though he had just seen death, his eyes wide and laced over with a fine layer of water. He wouldn’t let it out though… he was a shell, an empty vassal, he couldn’t let it out.

“Dima- I just need... to rest, I’m not feeling well-- Sorry.”

“Adamu...”

She whispered as he moved himself from her. She couldn’t really understand his hurt or change in attitude, but she also couldn’t help but worry. Something must have happened to him for him to act this way… but what was it? Slowly the female stopped and gazed at him as he moved himself to lie down in the muddy grassed that covered this part of the land.

She wanted to comfort him but she didn’t know how, and apart of her wanted to mother him, he was after all... so young.

Maybe that’s why she stuck around. She wanted to give him that freedom, the freedom to feel and to show sorrow. She knew that he didn’t have a mother anymore… this was something that he told her when they first spoke, but… she didn’t know the details about what happened. Why... his mother was gone. She could guess many things, play out the situation in her mind but every outcome seemed so much worse then before... so to keep herself safe and him comfortable she didn’t think about it or ask him what happened.

With a soft sigh Dima moved herself to sit beside him as he eyes slowly glanced down at his dark body. He was very frail looking, tired and lost.

Maybe someday he would change, but until then she would keep him company. It was the least she could do, if anything at all.

“Rest now...I’ll look over you, Adamu.”
