This is not a typical grammar horror story, but it is still the tale of an overconfident pseudo-grammarian making a royal a** out of himself, so I feel that this is the place to put it. So - I was in the GD earlier today (arguing gay rights, but that's got nothing to do with the story). As happens all-too-often, some bored GD'er corrected another's poor grammar, while himself missing a fairly obvious typo. I repremanded him (gently, I hope), with this being my last sentence:
optional.reality Irrelevant, sorry, I know, but poor grammar and hypocrisy are my kryptonite.
The boy obviously thought it would be quite clever and cutting to catch me, the evil and overbearing grammar Nazi, making the same mistake he had just made while disparging him for said mistake, and thus being quite ironic. So, his reply:
unidentified noobling Damn, I thought "hypocrisy" was spelled like "hypocracy". I could be wrong... ninja
And, indeed, it would have been very cutting and ironic - were it not for the fact that 'hypocrisy' is in fact the correct spelling.
Just thought you all might like a laugh.

My all time favourite phrase [and hoping that I don't actually offend anyone]:
STUPIDITY RULES SUPREME!

I love it when people try to correct you and their corrections are wrong. When I say "I love it" I mean "wow, that's annoying".
