"Damn him to hell!" Koka swore as she nestled in a thicket far from the pride she had become somewhat attached to but Nyek had to go ruin it all. Now she was without a pride, stuck alone as a rogue, and now she had to bare his damn spawn! It felt like the Gods were completely against her! Why couldn't she get one damn thing that she wanted!? She had been so close to becoming queen of a pride, he first on many in her future, but no, Nyek had to get himself killed! b*****d, that's what he was!
A contraction ripped through her body at that moment causing the young lioness to tense up in pain. She growled angerily as she laid her head down. Her ebony body panted heavily as she grew warm from the effort she had to put into bearing the cubs inside her womb. Another contraction and Koka could feel the first of the cubs ready to enter the world. Through gritted teeth she rode out the pain and pushed the cub from her womb. As soon as the runt was free she turned and cleaned it off. Checking to make sure it was alive she moved the cubs out of her way before the second one decided to show itself. A white female was now being tended to as Koka cleaned the cub off but she had little time to even move the cub before a final cub began to present itself. With a few final pushed, Koka was able to free the last cub only to find it dead.
With a sneer of disgust, Koka rose to her paws painfully. She grabbed the dead body and carried it out of the thicket. She cared not what happened to the corpse of her dead daughter. The vultures could have the body for all she cared. Making sure to take it far away from the den so as not to attract too many unwelcomed visitors, Koks deposited the body upon the plains. She didn't think twice as she turned to head back to her two remaining daughters.
Entering the den she shifted the cubs around and begrudgingly began to tend to the cubs. She had no one to pawn the runts off on so now she was stuck tending to them. Koka had little to no mothering instincts. She certainly didn't take after her mother nor her grandmother. Those motherly genes had been lost along the way somewhere, but she was coping.
Moving each cub to a teet so it could drink she licked their backs to ensure that they'd begin to eat and assure them that it was her before allowing her tired and worn body to relax.

Air! Life! Needing- and then, things got spinny. It was a strange thing, this life. She didn’t want to go back to where she was. She felt free finally, of whatever had held her. What had held her? Was it a dream? She had always been- what nonsense was that? From beginning to end, she had been there. She knew no other, and therefore, it must be true. Uriah shifted against her bonds, and found a teat and took it greedily.
Mother was there. She was not yet sure what that was- but like her; it had existed. It was somehow connected to the life she had felt before. All darkness and warm places. She breathed in and the great mass fed her and washed her. She could tell no difference in the mother’s care; although any adult could have seen that Koka was lackluster. She heaved and swayed the stump of a tail, the wing like markings on her shoulders pulsing as she shifted.
Nor did she mourn for a sister she didn’t know existed- and probably never would. The one who remained jostled at her side, and she shoved back with a mew of contempt.

Koka cared not what her two newborns were doing. She was far too exhausted to care. Who would have thoguht that giving birth was such a tiring experience! Damn Nyek and his male hormones! His death was causing more problems for her than it was worth!
Coldness! What was this? What happened to the envelop of warmth that she had been? But now she had room to stretch her limbs and try out the lungs she never knew she had. This was certainly an enjoyable experience though she missed the sound of that lovely rhythmic beat.
A tiny squeak escaped her maw as another body next to her own pushed at her. Not wanting to be put out, Tanwen pushed back with a tiny vocal outcry before finding the source of the warm liquid that would nourish her body for days to come. She suckled contently as jeher stubby tail whipped back and forth behind her, and tiny paws pushed against her mother's side. Mother, that's who was in front of her who was nourishing her. Just the thought of her moth nearby was enough to calm the little cub into a lazy stupor as she continued to drink until her fill. Unknowingly the little cub had no knowledge of the harsh lioness she called mother and what was to come in the future. She knew not of a lost sister whose body had been thrown to the vulture. No, Tanwen was just a content and happy cub.

Uriah shifted, feeling a wave of tired lethargy come over her. Because she had never been loved before- she did not notice anything strange about their mother’s lack of attention. She demanded it with small cries, but after none was given she quieted and went to suckling. Strange things floated through the cubs mind which was struggling on overdrive to start working. Mother... someone else too. Who on earth was that? Roughly, she gave a slight pawing so that her tiny pad made contact with the sister beside her. The feeling of touch bothered her, and she quickly brought it back with a nervous hiss. Sister...- Too much for one day! The red cub breathed harshly and sunk her head into the motion of gently sucking, before long falling into a deep slumber; rocked by the motions of her mother’s breathing.
