That question brought Tel up short. Oh, it was an innocent and friendly enough sort of question, but how to answer it so Kinya might be able to understand.
"They left when I was a young one. They left because they thought I was bad. I ran away from my pride to try and find them and beg them to love me again."
Rather succinct, but it would have to do, he thought as he nosed among the jungle grasses.

"... that's not nice of them." She snorted slightly and crawled up into a tree to look from that point of view.
"You don't seem bad enough to run away from." If her parents had done that she would have just left them alone. That was mean and you weren't suppose to be mean to your children.
