"All but one - Ari chose to remain at her own apartment, so Inanna (that's the child) lives off the compound...but they still come to visit regularly."

Peering at one of the monitors idly, Dacian then spoke up again.

"If you decide to live off the compound, we'll still require you to visit regularly - we want to make sure the child grows up knowing its heritage, of course."

Plus, they weren't going to just foist off these kids and then never see them again. That's one thing they would not do - these were there people, after all.

Straightening up, he offered a smile towards Jacob.

"So what do you think? Considering it?"

Jacob half laughed. "Yeah... but you won't have to worry about me living off the compound." He looked around for a moment, not sure what else to look at. "Yeah... I think so."

The whole time since he had first gotten here he had been thinking it over. It was either this, or moving in back home. Neither was a pleasant option, but being his age and living at home was probably least pleasant. At least this way he wouldn't have to write home to mom explaining about why he was taking care of a child...

He nodded again and looked back at Dacian. "Yeah," He repeated himself, absent-mindedly. "So... what are the apartments like?"

Now that was what he was more concerned about.

"Well, why don't I show you?"

Dacian then led the way from the labroom, and up out of the labs. Heh...it was always the sure-fire way to convince someone, show them the Soul - he had yet to have a guardian turn away afterwards. Some of them were wary beforehand, but they all crumbled after seeing it.

"Anyway...each apartment has two bedrooms, a main bathroom and one in the 'master' bedroom, a kitchen, a living room, and a spare room...that one you can make into anything, of course - office, playroom, whatever you'd like."

He led the way across the paths then, heading for the second building..it was the closest with empty apartments. Not to mention that it (in his opinion) had the best view.

Stopping in the entryway, he pulled out some keys. There seemed to be a locker for every apartment there, with a mail slot in front - and then there was another locker, with Dacian proceeded to open and pull out two keys.

"These are the mailboxes...there are two key's provided with each apartment."

Closing it, he offered another comment.

"Also, when - if? - you move in, I'm the handyman of sorts...have any problems, give me a call."

Then he began leading the way up to the next floor. On each floor (including the one they were just on) there was also a door that had a number and a letter marked on it - the entrance to the apartments, apparently.

Jacob noticed all of the mailboxes as he walked by. That woudn't be something he would have to get used to... He would probably have to find out his new address sooner or later, because no one would know it. It was probably better that way, though.

It was strange, though, he thought, that the first floor only had one door. Then the second floor only had one as well.

Unsure, he asked uncertainly, "How many apartments are on each floor?" After he spoke, he wasn't quite sure if he had even been loud enough to hear himself talking, but he decided not to repeat himself, for whatever illlogical reason he had convinced himself with.

"Oh - only one. I guess they're technically 'flats'..."

Dacian stopped in front of the second floor door, rummaging with the keys before unlocking it. He hadn't ever really stopped to consider the fact that one floor per person made it a flat, but oh well. Learn a new thing every day.

Opening the door, he stepped inside and gestured for Jacob to follow.

The door opened up into the living room. There was a kitchen visible, off to one side, with a counter as the dividing point between it and the living room (asides from the flooring). There was also a hallway, with four doors in it - the two bedrooms, the spareroom, and a bathroom. Oh, and there was a closet, but that wasn't important.

"Feel free to look around...like I said, the only furniture here is the basic stuff."
